So Annoying. So Handsome! Fan Club | Ep. 11 Touch Your Heart/Reach of Sincerity

The theme of misunderstandings is the through line for this episode. Uri Ukulele Couple continue to enthrall. For all the discomfort this episode brings, we have significant movement in the relationship. Dan takes a risk. Choi is indifferent. Dan is brave. Choi finally sees Dan. We also learn that Yoon Seo isn’t actually Choi’s ideal woman.

Here are 11 of my flutterings and cringes. What are yours?

(1) Fluttering: I can’t resist Dan Moon Hee’s bubbling enthusiasm for her one-sided-maybe-mutual crush.

    (2) Cringe: Advised to embody her crush’s “ideal type,” she strides into work dressed like Yoon Seo. Her aegyo and micro skirt terrifies her boss but Choi surprisingly takes in stride.

    (3) Cringe: When pressed to explain why Choi supports Dan’s transformation, he thinks she’s taking “a break” and equates her behavior to that time he slummed it while vacationing in Spain.

    Of course Choi is way off target and Att’y Yoon’s reaction says it all:

    (4) Fluttering: Emboldened by her tiny suit, Dan sweetly asks Choi out for drinks, to celebrate his birthday and thank him for the ukulele.

    (5) Cringe: Choi takes a hard pass but doesn’t even fathom that Dan is asking him out because she likes him. I ached for her but was actually more embarrassed for our hopeless Mama’s Boy.

    “Why would I drink alcohol with you on my birthday? I don’t have a girlfriend or a woman that I like on my birthday this year, so I made a reservation at a French restaurant to go out to eat with my mother.”

    (5) Cringe cont. Unlike their earlier interactions where he was purposefully cruel or childish, I think he genuinely doesn’t perceive her attraction. It’s still achey to watch Dan’s disappointment but she maintains her equanimity.

    So, please buy me the alcohol another time, Lawyer Dan. Hurry up and get out.

    (6) Fluttering: Choi meets a delusional would-be client who seeks divorce because her husband no longer declares his love a dozen times a day. (He’s down to only twice a day!) Plus there was that time he bought a chicken for dinner and didn’t share it. This lady is wacky but I love her retroactively because she’s the catalyst to Choi finally seeing uri Dan Moon Hee.

    (7) Fluttering: Reflecting on her own misunderstanding of Choi’s feelings, Dan is troubled to see the would-be client’s husband charging Choi for trying to seduce his wife. She defies the laws of physics and valiantly protects Choi from the husband’s attack.

    (8) Fluttering: Let’s break down Dan Moon Hee’s white knight moment. Uri Dan can teleport, y’all.

    As the legal secretaries and Att’y Dan anxiously watch from the hall, the raging husband attacks Choi.

    Dan teleports (the only explanation I have) just in time to shield Choi from the husband’s reach!

    (9) Fluttering: Our little firecracker defends Choi’s character and puts the overwrought husband in his place. Choi is defiant, while remaining safely behind his tiny knight. I suspect @natzillagorilla is correct in observing:

    (10) Fluttering: Choi is grateful for Dan’s aid and asks her why she put herself in danger. Dan simply answers she didn’t want him to get hurt on his birthday. “Think of it as a birthday present. I couldn’t let you have bad memory of your birthday.”

    I love how this scene mirrors Choi’s quietly heroic white knight moment from Ep. 8.

    Also, Dan Moon Hee is really sexy with messy hair.

      I loved that the first thing he said after this was ‘are you alright’. Not, why did you do it or I would’ve defended myself.
