Okay, well, first of all, there are 2 ways to interpret this last scene. 1) its a day dream 2) CY didn’t die and came back. But based on what BQ said before CY showed up, it seems she believes that he’s dead. If that’s the case then this must be a dream. However, this last hug seems too solid and real that it may just as well be that he didn’t die. If that is the case then the only reason why BQ would think that he did die would be that he was fatally injured and took a while to get better and during this time, he was stuck in BiRuoTian so she did not see him. So how did he survive the fall? Theory: CY falls all the way to the bottom of the well and lands on top of the body of Mysterious Man, acting as his cushion and thus he survived and didn’t die. While at the bottom of the well, because he was seriously injured in battle, he had to recuperate before he has the strength to use his great martial arts skills to use the side wall of the well to come back up to the top. And what did he eat during this time at the bottom of the well? Remember those tears that were shed by BQ when CY fell? She is the Divine Maiden of BiRuoTian and so her tears has special powers, just as her blood does and when they fell into the well, something miraculous happened at the bottom and all sorts of herbs with healing powers grew and anyways, CY ate them and he got better and was able to return and that is how he reunited with his love. THE END.
Regarding how everyone died in the end: well that literally happened, except for the king and LiuQW…. sad, sad sad… I wanted these two to die…. sigh. But all these deaths were understandable, except for Yun and DanSha… they could’ve been saved just by not being there in the first place…. Don’t really understand why the writer had to kill them. But DFS 😭😭😭😭 why didn’t they let him liveeeee 😭😭😭 but at least its his own grandfather that killed him. but still… give me back my DFS😭😭😭😭😭😭

Coming in knowing the ending made it more palpable that by the end I was thinking of reasons why each character died and whether it made sense for them to. with that in mind, I’d say I am quite happy with the end except for the fact that I lost DFS… but then again, he died protecting that which he loved, it better than dying of betrayal and being ordered to death by the king. This is probably a better ending for him. But if I could rewrite that I would make it so that he takes the fake-your-death pill (administer to him by BQ) and later just lives somewhere far away, attending to the sick and being his miraculous doctor self. I think I will be happy if that were to happen and that he finds his own bride that loves him back.

Awwww thank you for the final write-up of your thoughts!!! Being able to revisit the drama a little bit in the last couple of days through your screen caps and posts made me happy 😊
Up to a certain point, I just gave up & simply wished that our OTP would get a happy ending—and they did!!— so I don’t really care about the logic of how we got there or the logic of whether or not it was real, Bu Qi’s imagination, or Bu Qi’s dream 😂😂 I wasn’t too upset about so many character deaths, I honestly just rolled my eyes at many of them because I found it so laughable that they were so good all throughout the drama and then the writer(S) just got lazy & killed them all, but the deaths I was actually sad about was Cousin Yun for sure & also the death of Dongfang Shi in hindsight. Both men were such good people & good to Bu Qi 😭😭😭😭 I always shipped for Chen Yu when it came to his relationship with Bu Qi—because, yes, Zhang Bin Bin & Ariel Lin’s chemistry is just 🔥🔥🔥— because I alway saw in their relationship that they had this fundamental understanding & unquestionably deep love for each other that didn’t break & would always bring them back together, even in moments of near-death or actual death. I think going through the experience of being torn apart when Bu Qi faked her own death, which actually was the kickstart to their relationship, was the thing that helped them & their relationship be so strong right from the beginning, because they have already sort of experienced the pain of losing one another, so they know more than anyone else that they have to cherish the one they love. Yes, there were silly moments when Bu Qi was “jealous” of Chen Yu & his ‘business relationship w/ Liu Qing Wu, but I feel that was written just to give audiences a thought that maybe, just maybe, things could change & Bu Qi might choose to be w/ DongFang Shi in the end. Oh, DongFang Shi 😔😔😔😔 Poor puppy. He grew up privileged, he grew up w/ great knowledge & turned that knowledge into a great skill of learning medicine & helping people, but I also think that his privilege & great knowledge turned into arrogance & that’s where it all started to go wrong. His privilege & knowledge made him arrogant as he grew up & then knowing that Bu Qu’s family owed his family money made him feel higher up because the money was all that he could see & all he cared about until he actually took the time to get to know Bu Qi as a person & then fell in love w/ her because of who she is. I feel like the reasons why DongFang Shi fell in love with Bu Qi were the same reasons why Bu Qi & Chen Yu love each other so much: Bu Qi & Chen Yu both have a generous heart towards the marginalized & the poor of society (because Bu Qi experienced it & because Chen Yu has a blunt perspective of what is right & what is wrong), they will do absolutely anything & everything for the people they love & the people that they love, they love very deeply, they empathize w/ each other

The fundamental understanding of each other as people, the mutual respect, and unquestionable deep love Chen Yu & Bu Qi have for each other was never something Dongfang Shi ever understood and never took the time to try to understand— we see this when Chen Yu faked his death, and Dongfang Shi brought in the fake burnt corpse to Bu Qi just to get a reaction from her and to see the reaction. Chen Yu would have never done that, because ‘tis not the actions of someone who would have a fundamental understanding of another person.
When I say “fundamental understanding”, what I mean is the understanding of how a person clicks, understanding how a person’s emotions are built and what is the root of why they react to certain things the way that they do, what are the experiences that the other person has gone through to make them the way they are today— and then being able to see past the mistakes and misunderstandings that come up when they do and find a solution that will work for everyone … Dongfang Shi never took the time to find out and to know those things about Bu Qi unless she was the one who brought them up, but Chen Yu took the time to learned those things about Bu Qi every time he visited her and talked to her as the Lotus Robe Knight

Regarding understanding, I feel DFS also knows BQ quite well that he is able to predict her reactions all the time. But I guess knowing someone and really trying to protect them from crying is different. What I mean is he used this knowing as a weapon to use against her, kind of. Like in capturing Cousin Yun and in sending out XiaoXia. He knows her quite well, as the one that holds her friends dear but he uses it to her advantage…

Hmm 🤔 your comment really showed the deep relationship between CY and BQ. Although I love it when the two of them are together but after meeting DFS I felt that he also deserved some love. But everytime he did something that resulted in BQ’s tears I felt that perhaps the person he loves the most will always be himself. But after BQ asked him what he’d do if she got killed, I feel that is a turning point for him and from then on, it seemed to me that he was willing to risk more of himself for her. Even at hurting himself to get the antidote for her. And in the end getting killed when trying to save her.

Each time he asked BQ if he met her earlier, would she had loved him, I had to wonder as well. But thinking back to CY and BQ’s relationship development and what made BQ like CY, I’m going to have to admit that the answer may be no. Well, unless if DFS showed up as a the miraculous doctor who he truly is and maybe they could start at being friends. Sigh, but seeing how much BQ likes LotusKnight, DFS, you’d have to meet up with her before LK’s stories pass through her ears…!
