I seldom rewatch dramas, not even my most favorite ones. But The Light In Your Eyes is that kind of show where rewatching brings a whole new level of understanding and appreciation.
I am going to list some of the things that I couldn’t understand or bugged me and how they all made sense when Hye Ja’s condition was revealed. This is not exhaustive, I will just start the ball rolling. Please add to the list:
A) As shown from Hye Ja’s perspective
B) The reality
A) The sudden change in Mom & Dad’s marriage. Previously they were loving towards each other, but everything changed when Hye Ja aged overnight.
B) Hye Ja’s parents were happy but not her son and daughter-in-law. In fact, they were heading towards a divorce. What happened? We don’t really know yet. Years of shouldering the burden of caring and providing the family took its toll on the daughter-in-law.
A) Dad was a taxi driver but he suddenly became a security guard after Hye Ja’s change. I thought it was because Hye Ja didn’t managed to totally reverse the accident. Although Dad didn’t die, he was disabled and had to change job.
B) Her son had probably been a security guard for some time and never a driver.
A) Dad’s dislike for anchovies.
B) I couldn’t understand why the show made a big deal out of it. Now I think I do. Hye Ja probably forced her son to eat lots of anchovies thinking that the calcium would help strengthened his leg. This explains her son’s aversion toward them.
A) Hye Ja’s sudden ability to whip up dishes.
B) Hye Ja was probably a great cook. She wasn’t a 25 year old who didn’t know much about cooking.

i am glad i started watching this after someone gave me the spoiler.. i can see each scene in that light.. and still look forward to it to understand how is director going to make sense of NJH’s scene.. despite knowing all the reveals..(i guess more from the technical aspect)

But veyr good.. and NJH can be proud of this work
And the senior artist is just so lovely.. i dropped it earlier because i thought this was romcom and old lady didn’t help the case.. so wrong!

specially all dad’s scenes .. i can see what dialogues mean

I have not fully understood NJH’s part either. In reality, he’s Dr Kim Sang Hyun who’s her doctor at the daycare.

I suspect Dr Kim has a sad story as what’s shown so far. Perhaps he suffered a setback in his medical career due to the altercation with his father and instead of practicing in a hospital, he’s working at the daycare instead.

Haven’t started rewatching, but another netizen online also had the same realisation as yours. And as I read it yesterday, everything also started to make sense
