You have so far created a wonderful trope soup of a show with such refreshing taste, so please stop making it turn and spoil the entire pot with the upcoming episodes!
We all tune in for something like this:
If you insist (and persist) especially after the BTLIOF debacle, you will forever be CUT CUT CUT from Kimbap’s list!!!
💚 Agreed minus the BTLIOF part. What lead to this was really stupid though. He tells her that she doesn’t have to communicate things. He himself doesn’t communicate things. So, friggin, stupid, but somewhat understandable given their newness to relationships. Argh.
Yeah. I was watching the commentary and how they kept mentioning that sheโs at the law firm for field experience. Come to think of it. Itโs an entire package other than learning to be a lawyer. Re: field experience on how to date. Breakups included.
Are you serious right now noona. These writers now. Noble idiocy as a plot device to make her a better actress. I mean, as far as the story goes, it makes sense. As far as my initial frustration goes, FIND SOMETHING ELSE!!!
I postpone watching it until today, and there are still plenty of cute and enjoyable parts, @mayhemf! (Just don’t watch the preview.)
The writing through episode 12 actually still left me with faith that the big stinking N.I. will not be long last since Jung-rok himself literally said that he is not going to go along with the drama cliche, so at least the show has this meta awareness that this trope is tiresome.
I am now wishing that the preview is all just clever/manipulative editing to lead the viewers believe that they are going through a full bout of NI next week, @dramafan12! 😆
I am right there with you, @kimbapnoona. I’ll give them a pass for being Machiavellian if that’s the case. This has been such a fabulous romantic comedy on so many levels, there’s no need for full blown NI. Just Nope.
What makes it even more frustrating is the fact that they actually have a more ‘acceptable’ reason for breakup before (like her lying to him about her reason working in a law firm or the initial misunderstanding about Yeo-reum) that instead showed just how honest and supportive they are. Jung-rok’s reason is silly at best. She is a 30 something woman, for God’s sake, she knows well what she wanted to do with her own life. And I didn’t buy her manager reasoning at all because I’ve seen in real life how actor/actress who suddenly announced their marriage with non-celebrity instead got many best wishes from their fans. *hint, hint* *nudge, nudge* (If you are worried about being caught dating, just get married instead, guys.)
😂😂😂 Hear hear!!
Or fight scandal with scandal: make a baby, oh please make adorable babies together!!
And please do it soon before I stop liking you, Jung-rok!!
It is funny how upset I feel when noble idiocy hasn’t really arrived yet. Judging from the preview, it seems like full-blown case of NI. 😂
As you said, @gadis, It is upsetting really because all along JR talks about getting through obstacles TOGETHER. He even talked about averting this drama cliche when confronted by Manager Oppa…..and then all for naught? It is almost like the writer and director is toying with us: “hey we know this trope is overused and tiresome, but here it is!” *facepalm

Ughhhh I second that! So much communication prior, only to breakup due to such minor miscommunication. But first love hurts…

At least in the preview the pain of this separation seems to make YS a better actress? 😆
*tries hard to spin this positively

I watched it raw, and will only watch the subbed one on Monday or Tuesday. So that Iโm prepared for the next episode.

Yup, I decided to trust a little after JR made that statement. Let’s hope the show turns this trope on its tiresome head pronto.
