I am surprised at my consistent inability to watch dramas for my bias.

I tried 1 episode of Mother of Mine and despite a gratuitous shower scene of Hong Jong Hyun, I can’t muster any interest to continue. Show has all the cliches and tropes of your typical weekend drama.

Dazzled by the awesome The Light In Your Eyes, it’s a tough act for any new drama to interest and much less impress or hook me. Then came All Is Well a Chinese family drama. I’ve never watch a C-drama of this genre in decades. In recent years, I’ve only tried period or fantasy C dramas and a very occasional non-period drama. Modern C dramas generally don’t appeal to me and the few I’ve watched are fluffy rom coms and criminal procedural.

I’ve changed my banner which will now show recommended dramas unless some actor makes me irrational enough to put his face up. I am still fond of HJH but in the light of things happening in k entertainment, it’s a timely reminder that what we see onscreen is very often not what is real.

I’ve read somewhere that All is Well is doing pretty good in China.

I read that it was good but never felt tempted to try until now. I binged watched to ep 20 in 5 days.

It’s a well made drama with excellent character study, traditions and family relationships. It comes from the same production house as Ming Lan.

If people are sick of watching poorly written female characters, forget about K dramas and try C dramas.
