It’s Sunday night and I keep thinking I’d read some other beanie’s take on Fiery Priest this weekend and how insanely funny it was. But no one else has written so I’ll just add my two cents worth here.
Back when I was watching WooHoo Wakiki and howling with laughter, I couldn’t imagine any show funnier than that one. Well now I’ve found it. It is so funny – but in a different way as there isn’t quite so much bathroom humor.
Still they’ve become this ragtag team of ex special agent turned priests, nuns, delivery men, ex-bodyguards to the king of Thailand, a prosecutor with a guilty conscience and a wardrobe to die for, a silly but earnest detective with a bad gut, and now finally a child-actor turned priest.
The fearsome four and slowly disintegrating and imploding upon themselves, the fellow officers at the police station are finally appreciating our hip-hop baton wielding rookie cop (who is just adorable by the way) and our bad guy is losing ground and looking more pathetic the less in control things get for him – even his bobbed hair minion can see he’s going soft.
Add to that a silly Russian mob with swiveling heads and a rather dumb cult leader.
This show is so good at not taking itself seriously but we viewers are having too much fun. I wonder at times how much of this is ad-libbed and they just kept it in the film because the crew thought it was so funny.
But thank you Fiery Priest – you totally make my weekend! Don’t know what I liked more Saturday – the “Shepard and Yellow Dog” or the women taking down the gangsters together or everyone crying when Father Han went into drama mode.
If you aren’t watching this show I cannot recommend it enough. With Kim Nam Gil and Honey Lee it is fun – but the whole cast is really rocking it.
Me, me! I second everything you’ve said. I really like how things are gradually turning around for the good guys.
Clearly no one takes themselves seriously AT ALL in the drama. The past few episodes have been ridiculously hilarious and Father Han’s arc yesterday was the cream of the funnies for me. I laughed till I couldn’t see my screen. Both times. I’m glad this is going to 40 (20) episodes. It’s just so good.
I watched this Friday night and Saturday laughing out loud so much and almost peeing my pants when they walked out with those dogs heads on. But I wasn’t able to post. So yesterday morning I went back through to get those screenshots and laughed almost as hard the second time. This show will definitely be a rewatch.
Father Han was epic!
Now we just need to get the story of the nun and gorgeous bad guy’s (sorry don’t remember the names) sidekick’s mysteriously murderous looks. Maybe he is out for the cash as well.
Oh, and how convenient that her THUMB got damaged- hah – yeah right……
I was thinking the same that I’ll be rewatching this whenever I need a good laugh. My attention was on another drama when it started, which meant I was half watching this during the early episodes. At least that’ll be my excuse for the first rewatch 😁
So much of that had to have been accidental and was so funny they added it. When Ha-il was yelling that he wouldn’t wear it but the camera was on the car I though for sure the masks would be pink and or covered with a design of some kind. I was completely unprepared for the dog masks. Brilliant!

Actually I could watch Kim Nam Gil for hours all by himself.

Apparently I was too tired to edit what I wrote last night. My apologies for the multiple grammar and editing mistakes. *hangs head in shame*
