Is it too early to say that A Beautiful World is probably going to be my drama of the year?

Because this is a first to have a full-length drama hooked me emotionally and made me cry within the first 10 or so minutes. I feel like I can see myself in them, in their ordinary lives and routines, that it’s easy to feel what they feel and understand what’s going through their mind even when I haven’t known them that well. It also didn’t hurt that it was so beautifully and meaningfully directed.

VIU subbed this. And it’s also available in the usual not-so-legal sites.

Oh my. That graphic match alone gave me goosebumps.

And it was only one of the many carefully directed scenes here (and also the most unspoilery one). It felt like these visuals told the story just as much as the dialogues.

I loveee that one scene with the teacher seeing his distorted image in the mirror.

This is a really hard watch though. As an early childhood educator, I’m so mad that these people call themselves educator when all they care about is reputation. This is serious. They need to get to the bottom of this. I cannot accept that people can get away with doing such vile acts. I’m just so mad. I know it’s a drama, not “real”, but ughhh I’m so madddddd.

It’s a really hard watch because it hits too close to home (thankfully not to this extent, but bullying happened in all kind of forms). And while I tried to tell myself to not get all work up over a drama, I can’t help but questioning how close this story is to the reality there.
