That ending 😱 Were both hyung and the stalker there???
We really got a lot of backstory today. Atlast we finally know how SungMo, his mom, and the stalker are connected. Although I’m still wondering how/why stalker kidnapped SM’s mom in the first place. Did her family and friends look for her when she went missing?
Dae Bong is so sweet. I’m glad he finally asked So Hyun if she wanted him around or not and left immediately when she said no. I hope she changes her mind though.

I think -hope- DB and SH will end up together at the end of the show… Why did she refuse him around her anyway? Was it to force him to date a girl who wouldn’t be a single parent?

      6
      1

I’m so used to DB standing for dramabeans, I got very confused for a second 😅
I hope they get together too. I think SH is just afraid that DB will leave her like her baby’s dad did.

        3
        0

I think SH likes him too. Maybe she’s just reluctant because of her past and she’s a single mother. Like the chicken shop owner pointed out, his parents may not accept her and SH has good reason to think that he’s just playing around. DB needs to prove to her that his feelings are genuine. I really want them to get together though. DB is such a sweetheart.

I felt so bad for JS this episode. She really wants to set things right but knowing that so many ppl were hurt so that she could get treated must be so hard to take.

Yes and yknow Korea, they judge who you are, doesn’t matter how great of a person you are. And marrying a single mother is frown upon. People talk.

I wish her dad hadn’t told her that he had covered it up for her. Why make her feel guilty.

        7
        1

I think he did not want her to think he was bad. He did what he had to do.. his reasoning.

          3
          1

Agree. He’s emphasizing That he did it for her and he’s still doing it for her. Trying to get his hands cleaned and get her respect back. Sure his hands were tied, but he rose to power because of YSS. The fact that a he’s an officer of a higher rank and is living in a mansion, he obviously benefitted in this that is not related to Ji Soo’s wellness. His corruption runs deep.

This has become so creepy!!! But I’m loving it.

Haven’t watched the last 6 mins of the episode, cuz real life sucks 😖

But yes correct how come nobody came looking for his mom when she went missing? Or has she been all alone by herself too?

So that young girl in his memory was actually the mom – I wondered if that tiny gesture from her triggered the stalker. She showed him kindness, smiled at him gently, then he wanted to possess her, cage her. Really creepy. I wanna rewatch to see if I had missed anything but at the same time I don’t cuz what happened was so mind-f.

      5
      1

Oh! I didn’t realize that the girl was Eun Joo!

        0
        2

Yes it was just a split second we saw how she was already in the cell at such young age. Stalker looked like he was a teenager too as she watched her cry behind the bars.

          4
          6

I was really creeped out at how she was caged since she was a young girl! Compared to what Sung Mo had to go through, his mother’s story seems even worse!
Imagine spending close to 20 years caged! That’s just so horrible!

And can I just say- the guy who plays the villain is better off playing roles of secretary/office worker/father/minor villain…. it’s really kudos to the directing and music that I get so creeped out! The actor doesn’t scare me at all! πŸ˜›

@obsessedmuch yep agree he doesn’t come off as creepy – I’m not scared af with him. It’s his story and yes bg song that creep me out, but not his face or acting. I think this is the first a villain didn’t give me chills just by looking at his face lol.

            3
            0

He has such a run off the mill ajhussi face!
I keep remembering him from 30but17, Alahambra and even DotS!

@obsessedmuch – Yes, I called out on bad casting early on. He just doesnt scare me. But when I watch possessed the killers really give me the chills!

I’m not sure how they’re going to make this four more episodes without more stalker getting away scenes. I’m ready for him to be caught. One almost drowning plus the prior murders has already passed my threshold.

The backstory was heartbreaking. How does one survive this?
Now I understand what the caged bird represents, although I’m not sure why SM and his mother had one in their home and now in his bedroom.

Anyway, please SM, ask for help now!

As for JS, I can’t imagine what she must be feeling now. But I think she’ll eventually reveal the truth.

    7
    2

After that I wouldn’t want to see anything in a cage.

      4
      0

Why do they keep the bird? To perhaps remind themselves of what they were? It’s like a constant reminder of what they went through and overcame? Let’s hope they talk abt this and answer our doubts!

Makes for great symbolism though! The island where the mother tried committing suicide had all those birds flying around…

      6
      2

I think it’s only for the symbolism. They leave the dog and bird alone so often that I’m not sure they’ve thought it through from a practical standpoint although they addressed it the tiniest bit in this episode.

        6
        2

          Hahhah true that!

          1
          0

speaking of the dog and bird – it drives me crazy when he comes home from being gone so much and doesn’t take the dog outside for a walk or anything. Maybe the dog is house-trained on a mat?
Anyway, I hope people watching think it’s okay to leave a little dog alone for such long periods.
Okay – off my stool for now.

          3
          0

Speaking of symbolism, (I’m bad at interpreting so I’m not even gonna bother dissecting the white bird in a cage 😅) ….. did we say anything about the sunflower necklace? Why does the camera focus on it every time? I wonder who gave Ji Soo that. She doesn’t wear it but rather hangs it up in a place she can see it every time.

        9
        1

Oh yes! I was wondering abt that as well!
What’s the bet that Sung Mo gave it to her and the show tells us later on that it is her that he likes more and the stalker misread his love for Jae-In?

          11
          3

Oooohhh that would be cute if he happened to gift her that! Honestly, I feel like he really likes Ji Soo. My shippers heart is sensing it real 😍 and I can totally picture this in my head…

Anyways there was this scene in the elevator a few episodes back, when Ji Soo pouted that he can see through her, but she can’t to him, and this guy, who is soo opaque, clued her in to his thoughts! Like! That says a lot about their relationship! He’s willing to share her his thoughts when he’s so shut off. I think I might have fangirled over that. Honestly I think when he started speaking to her in banmal, I started fangirl yelping at them cuz he’s so random and they’re so cute. 😆🀭😁

Ji Soo’s Dr friend said that some people could control this illness. And what if Sung Mo has mastered this and yes you’re right, the stalker might have misread thinking his most precious was Jae In when Sung Mo said it himself, it’s her that he cherishes. People brush it off cuz they know she’s harbouring a β€œone sided” crush for years, but who knows!

Huehhhehhe ignore me, I’m just romanticizing the creepy situation they’re in right now πŸ€ͺ

            9
            0

yeah, what’s with all these sunflowers? She goes where light is? or he goes where light is.. is Ji Soo the light and Hyung the flower..
and what’s that damn poster in his room.
and why have a bid in a cage.. Hyung.. don’t turn bad..

@13infamyss – I dont for a moment believe that Hyung has romantic interest toward Jae In. I think she was the first one to trigger an emotion in him (when he was a teenager). And then he felt that feeling of warmth. May be his first love.
And seeing her living by herself without a father made him care for her and protect her. He has learnt how to deal with his illness and has managed to do well. I think he trusts Ji Soo and cares for her. But is unable to show love on his own. If asked he is able to give. Now that Ji Soo knows, I think she can handle him better than anyone else. That woman is a rockstar!

@mayhemf Yesss! And he acknowledged Ahn as Jae In’s boyfriend a few episodes back. He might not feel anything, but he’s not obtuse. He can see what’s going on between Ahn and Jae In and he doesn’t look overly concerned about it.

I’ve been so busy since last week. I literally can only sleep every two or three days.
    I miss Lee Ahn.
Have fun guys, I will join you next week.

Not sure about everyone else, but when LA opened the closet door and the image of young SM running away scared me. I was getting ready to see a scary scene (with all the slow motion and music). But it was still a bit creepy…

    Absolutely!

Oh man! that was a heavy duty episode. We got a lot of ground covered.
My heart does out to his mom. Imprisoned since teenage, raped, pregnant and a mother all in this cage. This is just cruel.
That wallpaper made me so sad, so so sad.

We have 4 more episodes. It feels like am already in the climax. What are we going to do for 4 more episodes. Can we solve all this in the next 2 episodes and focus on rehabilitation for Hyung and his mother and some happy stuff in the remaining episodes please.

    8
    2

Yes please. Can the creepy things end next week. And then spend the last week with cute, bubbly stuff. I know somebody mentioned that we tend to forget this is one heavy drama because our male lead is a fluffball. And he does make things light, so hopefully we would get a light HEA for our three couples!

      +++++
And argh, forgot to mention YSS again! It’s being sidelined all this time but I feel like they really play a bigger role in this. I mean we have a talented veteran cop who ended up being stationed in a lull town. There better be a reason why we were shown that he’s still great at deducting right? (He was accurately naming his lunch) and that the last big case he handled had YSS involved in it.

      5
      2

I know right. I knew this was not a Rom-com and was prepared for some dark mystery. But right now its just too dark. I think the whole caged teenager giving birth was too hard to handle. I could use some break. Lee An was a nice break from all the darkness. May be they will free Hyung and all 4 will go against YSS?

        4
        1

Yeah that revelation part didn’t really do well in my brain, didn’t help either that I was watching this at breakfast this morning. 🀒

          2
          0

And the 2 drAmas am watching now are this and Possessed. Both very dark. But I love them both. I need something really light to break this tone.

        3
        1

I agree. We better get some cute, happy stuff in the remaining episodes.

My heart breaks so bad for Ji Soo in this episodes because she cried so much. Seeing what usually a bright person cries can do that to you I guess. Anyone kindly enough to explain the meaning behind the sunflower? It’s everywhere!

12 episodes in and for the first time I realized that the bird in Sung Mo’s room is alive! Hahaha I thought it was just for decorative style.

Finally saw the last 6 mins of Ep 12!

Eeeeeepsss!!! Why is Ahn narrating this???????????

    😱😱

How? Why is this a painful memory, Ahn????? Don’t freak me out.

    4
    4

And she is totally looking at her pendant!!!!

This has got to be Sung Mo’s present to her!!!

      4
      1

Honestly, if Sung Mo gave that to her as a gift, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was bugged or has a tracker on it.

On the other hand, symbolically I think she is his light. Our psychometric puppy and Jae-in may have been the first people he cared about, but Ji-soo is the one who breaks his shell even if he doesn’t show always show it. I think Hyung knows all the connections and while he is trying to get his revenge, he also wants to protect her.

Gosh I hope we don’t get a morass of noble idiocy.

        9
        0

And it goes without saying after getting to this part, but so the events have already happened and we are basically watching the story unfolds through Ahn’s story.

adding one more screenshot here cuz I doubled the last pic

I know right. Something bad is going to happen. Why do I feel hyung is going to kill the man.

      5
      2

        That’s what I’m thinking too.

        2
        0

Honestly it shouldn’t be a crime to kill a murderer. 🀬 If that’s the only way to stop him, he could use self-defence in court. It’s either him or that stalker who survives, so I’d rather Hyung survives.

        1
        1

Well Hyung had all the information to track him down. He was a prosecutor. He had the cops behind him. All he had to do was speak up. In the past it’s true they couldn’t catch him because he lacked an ID and these 2 survivors were so traumatized that they could not deal with the cops and ran away. But hyung has grown, learnt. I feel it will all be in such vain if he just kills him.

          4
          1

That is true. 😪 let’s hope he’s got a better plan than killing him

            1
            0

I was thinking it’s a good thing he’s narrating it because that means he survives!

What’s with the reveal and her constantly looking at the sunflower. Something is amiss and I can’t tell.
