So I thought I’d share… 40+ years ago when I was teaching English in Taiwan one of my former students told me you could tell Koreans apart from Chinese by the cheekbones. Of course he didn’t know how to really describe them in either English or Chinese so he had to resort to “that way” or “you know”, which I didn’t at the time because I hadn’t seen enough Koreans. Later back in America I had some Korean co-workers and finally knew what he meant. Now I’ve spent too many hours watching too many Kdramas and I’m more like “What other kind of cheekbones are there?”.

And for what it’s worth, Askakorean dot com once tried to describe how to identify Koreans by looking at them and DIDN’T mention cheekbones, although they were mentioned in the comments.

The comments were much more educational than the article itself.
