The 1st episode of Abyss didn’t really do much for me. Even the JSM/SIG cameo fell flat. But I like Park Bo Young so will probably give ep 2 a go before I call it quits.
Same here. It felt very spotty and I just didn’t get the mood of this drama.
Am hoping now that PBY came towards the end of episode 1 things will change for the better.
Also, am confused. Does the voice change or it’s the same. How do people recognize Cha Min over the phone when he is in a different body.
Also it would be icky if they now fall in love with their new bodies. Like they couldn’t do that in their old bodies.
I hope there’s was good reason for him to go behind HeeJin and get married quickly. Let’s see. Will see episode 2 and decide.
Same here. And I too had a problem with the fact his voice was different (surely) but she still knew who he was.
The whole episode was messy and I was left wondering if one more episode would be worth it. And that is sad because I really like those two actors. sigh…
The Secret Life of my Secretary on the other hand was delightful.
It’s pure trope and fluff – which now after Possession, That Psychometric Guy, Dr Prisoner is kind of okay. Besides I like the actress – she is quite cute.
And I KNOW the obnoxious male is going to be forced to come down quite a few notches…..
But nothing more than that – guess it makes me a bit shallow right now.
Same here. I have hope now that Park Bo Young is here, but Ahn Hyo Seop (?) no matter how handsome he is, isn’t ready to carry a drama yet, by the looks of this. OR this is not well written and well edited. I can’t decide.
I thought it was a screenplay issue too in addition to his acting. I felt we weren’t jumping genres!!
The suicide attempt, rebirth – none of it triggered any emotion. In theory it’s a big loss. Losing your body.
Same thing when PBY comes in her reaction to the loss of her body/death made some connection. Purely her acting.
I don’t know if the writers intentionally did that to show why these two characters never worked romantically in the first place.
Yeah. His disconnect was explained away as him being a weird person, but I got distinct Reunited Worlds vibes from the whole situation. Like, the reactions made zero sense given the circumstances.
Exactly! I could connect to the story in just the last ten minutes when PBJ came on to the screen. I also couldn’t understand why the guy was hiding himself? And then again wanting to visit his friend without even a single worry that his face is different. I don’t get it.

Exactly! The phone thing really irked me! You have been friends for 20 years and in contact and you don’t recognise your friends voice over the phone?

You liked secretary? I was going to skip it. I wasn’t ready for another obnoxious male in power abusing a secretary :))

Really, I found it rather dreadful and tropey to the boot, and Abyss is not much better, Monday premieres were lacklustre this time.
