Australia. Sunday afternoon. I went to buy some winter basics from Uniqlo (Japanese store for those of you who don’t know). Was browsing the isles of the sweater section when an Asian boy and a girl (no more than 20 year olds) were holding hands and staring into each other’s eyes. I turned around automatically to give them some privacy as I heard the girl say ‘bogoshpida’. and the boy whisper ‘saranghe’.
My head snapped back at them with such force that they both turned around to look at me, still holding hands. I swear on god, for everything that it right and holy, I gave them the finger hearts.
Nervous laughter followed..from all three of us on that sweater isle. I didn’t buy anything.
