In Ep 2 Fu Pei asked her to go out with him after grad. Momo said she knew that day was April’s fools day, so she didn’t want to get her hopes up. He said he wasn’t joking. In the later flashback scene (same episode) when his ex was bawling her eyes out over their breakup and asked Momo if they were gonna get together then, he told her they weren’t. So yeah he was stringing her along, afraid what people would say if they officially went out. Momo called it quits right away, which what I really admired about her. As much as she loved Fu Pei, she didn’t let him play with her emotions at that time in their highschool. Now, there would be many times more since then that he’d raise her hopes up and she’d end up be disappointed, but she had never left Fu Pei ruined her everything. She loved Fu Pei, but her world didn’t revolve around him.

In the drama, no, they never dated.
She had a crush on him. He knew full well. He strung her along. She got fed up. She moved one. He realized what he lost but it was too late.
