Game of Thrones was my first American series I watched in like 8 years since I started Kdramas.
And it ended like that. What a way to ruin a show~
Guess who’s not watching TV series ever again 🙂

How did it end? (I haven’t ever watched it)

Well the last season had 6 eps. The first three eps were good, but the last three eps did not make any sense. All the character building they’d done was thrown out of the window. All the main characters were doing things that were so out of character. *spoiler* One of them goes mad and kills a lot of people but the reasons why they did that don’t make.any.sense.
Also ultimately they gave the throne to the one character who did NOTHING the entire show except sit around and say some crap idk it was just legit.so.dumb
There was a character who had such amazing growth and she could have been the queen of the seven kingdoms but they bypassed her and made her queen of the north instead. SO.DUMB. Consequently, the current person on the throne is now the ruler of six kingdoms lol
Instead of the intricacies of the plot that we’d seen for 7 seasons, the last three eps felt like some dumb kid wrote the plot from point A to B with no twists, turns, feels, and character growth that we saw in the first 7 seasons.
Basically, the fanfiction trumps the original plot. Shame on D&D
DON’T even get me started on how the mother of dragons ended up in the show I literally want to tear something to pieces when I think about how they BUTCHERED her character ffs

All in all I’d give it a B ending. I would have done some things differently (and was understandably disappointed as a result), but what worked was done really well. I cried a lot! In the big picture, GoT was far less disappointing than many kdramas I have seen.

No but it could have been (should have been) so much more. That wasn’t GoT writing in the last three episodes, that was some lazy cheesy weird anti-GoT writing.
The show was never meant to have a happy ending but what it should have left us with was something meaningful and logical at the very least.
If Dany had to go mad, at least do it in a logical and sensible way. How did Dany go from mourning one child’s death that her dragons had killed to burning an entire city to ashes? What cause Jorah and Missandei died?
If they decided to kill Cersei, give her the death she deserved. She literally had one of the most merciful deaths in the show, in Jamie’s arms. It should have been a Stark that killed her.
WHY would the show pass on the chance to make Sansa queen? She had the best character development in the show and she would have made an amazing queen. The north would have stayed too if she’d been queen. Bran said he’s the three eyed raven he’ll “never be the lord of anything” – legit his words – and they made him king. FOR WHAT?!?
Where did that horse come from? What saved Arya from death in ep5?
What does Bran do as the three eyed raven? What was he doing in The Long Night?
What happened to the hole in the wall? Why do we need a nights watch anymore?
Dany’s death was as anti climatic as it could get. And Jon stabbing her like that? Jon Snow really? Underhanded surprise stab in the chest? REALLY? Jon would never do that. Makes.no.sense.

*Just cause Jorah and Missandei died?

Also Tyrion went from being the smartest man in Westeros to a bumbling fool in season 8? They killed his character without literally killing him (like they did with so many) just to get an easy ending.
Whatever happened to Arya killing a green eyed person?! WHAT. Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. That’s what the red lady said. WHERE did that plot line even go. Speaking of which: Arya didn’t use her face changing abilities once this season. Are we forgetting that’s she no one?! Wtf

An amazing show was ruined. What also pisses me off is that because the writing went to shit, we couldn’t appreciate the cinematography and the directing of the season. They went all out and it was obvious they were trying to make up for the terrible writing. It pisses me off because that’s all most of us focus on and the amazing crew who put it together weren’t appreciated.
But I think differently in the sense that the first four episodes were the absolute worst and the last two were what could be salvaged. Personally, I’ve found Game of Thrones’ quality lacking mainly from the 7th season. I never felt GOT was about good and bad/ villain and good guy – it was always about choices and how actions have consequences.
For me, it also wasn’t Daenerys going mad that pissed me off. I’ve seen that coming since the earlier seasons. There were always indications that she was too obsessed with the idea of her destiny and didn’t do too well with people who opposed her. Besides, Targaryens were inter-bred – madness is bound to run in the family. It was just how she went mad. So much didn’t make sense to me. And Bran – I do admit that at the end of the day, he was the best candidate in the shit of the mess they’d created. He was the candidate that everyone could accept but fuck, that ninja did absolute shit nothing for 8 fucking SEASONS!

For me, the Battle of Winterfell was just outrightly terrible. The plan sucked. Their strategy made no sense to me. I kept saying throughout the episode – why? Sending those people to the crypt was just the most thoughtless and ridiculous thing to happen! Why didn’t they try to move the battle to a different castle or a place they could have better advantage? Why did the Dothraki charge first? The fought like they were fighting the living! It’s like Jon forgot that any deaths from their army added to the Dead’s army.
And they made space for romance every episode! I’m not here for ‘I love you’ every second. It was Romeo and Juliet assfuckery!
Tyrion was the biggest disappointment of all. He should have kept with the booze and whoring – he was wise then! My mans just became an arrant idiot by the end!
I’m glad it was 6 episodes. I complained at first but now I know why – they had nothing to write! In the name of wanting to be unpredictable, they ruined things! I had Attack on Titan to look forward to. It also aired on Sundays and it made up for the tomfoolery that GOT was!
All in all, compared to most series, it was an amazing series. But comparing season 7 and 8 especially to the first GOT seasons – comparing to the standard it has set for itself – it was left wanting.
On one hand, I think the writing sucked, but on the other hand, I don’t think I can blame them as much. There was too much pressure and they’re not GRRM, the genius behind the books. They could not follow up the ingenuity he made. It was bound to happen as soon as they surpassed the books!
