This is somewhat random but I just read that some actress from ‘Secret Life of my Secretary’ had to drop out because of an assault case. I didn’t really read about the case but I think she was the assailant and she was drunk.

Then I read a comment about how being a horrible drunk doesn’t make you a terrible person. I, then, had like a flashback of so many violent cases (sexual, domestic, child and verbal abuse) where the assailants always gave the ‘I was drunk card!’
To be frank, I was very irritated!

I’m not referring to the actress in particular because I didn’t follow up on her case so I don’t have enough knowledge to make a statement but I can’t get behind that thought process of blaming alcohol.

Millions drink every day but majority aren’t abusing people. It’s not the alcohol- it’s you! I understand alcohol can alter the state of mind, make you lose sense of inhibitions but it doesn’t make you assault someone. That’s on you and the sooner you own up to it, the faster you can get help if you need it.
I feel it’s an excuse the abusers give themselves so they don’t fully acknowledge they did what they did. YOU violated the person not the alcohol!

She got in the passenger seat of a taxi and started to yell and beat up the driver who happened to be over 60 years old. When taken to the police station she got violent there too.

It’s going to make it a little harder for me to watch. They’re going to try to edit some of her out, but she’s an important side character.
