Okay, I love WWW premier episodes! It’s just one thing – except the excessive use of lightening (don’t know the appropriate terminology for it) – I don’t like or understand: why is Jang Ki Yong there? I like the actor but I don’t get his role yet. His character is coming across very flat especially since the other characters are already so layered.
I know we’re only two episodes in so it might be too early to judge. I just hope we get more insight into his character and he doesn’t end up a one dimensional character for the purpose of giving her a Ba Tae Min a love interest. I wouldn’t so much mind that either except it’s a waste of his talent. It’s just that, during the promotions, it seemed like he had a bigger role to play.

All in all, I’m looking forward to Bae Tae Min and ‘scarlet’ knocking heads. I just already love both characters. And Bae Tae Min’s official lackey – he’s cute. The whole ‘English name’ thing in Barro is hilarious! I couldn’t keep a straight face when they called each other ‘Scarlet’, ‘Brian’, ‘Alex’. It’s just so weird!

Once again, I crawl back into my hole to despair in exams.

Personally, it seems like the traditional power dynamics are reversed in WWW. Watching too many dramas and movies underutilizing women makes me think they might do the same thing with the men but with giving a few more spotlights.

If everyone had the same importance, it would be the best.

I really hope writer gonna flesh out Mo gun so we can understand who he is as a character. Right now he feel like a blank sheet to me… the same with the other men in the other two woman life 🙂 I do not see why we can´t have an equal balance between the woman and the men in this drama.

I really want them to add more depth to their male characters. I want them to prove you can have layered characters regardless of gender. I normally never like dramas/movies with ‘feministic’ or ‘women empowerment’ themes (Hollywood) not because of the message but because it always feels like they’re trying to capitalize on what a large percentage of the internet world agrees on. You know how it’s the ‘thing’ to do to make fun of Donald Trump or when it was Justin Bieber’s turn… or even identity politics… it’s like they make it into a trend!
Not that it’s a bad thing to capitalize but it’s always done in a fake way – almost like they don’t believe their message either but they want to sell it to us. Anyway, I digress.
This doesn’t feel like that to me. I don’t see ‘strong’ women, I just see different ambitious women – you know, normal people you come across everywhere. So I wish they’ll treat their male characters with the same respect.

I agree with you. I misued the term ‘strong’ and should have chosen ‘ambitious’ to qualify them.

If only women are put upfront, the problem will be the same about different treatment of male and female characters.

It’s a matter of style, I guess. I don’t like the fashion they dress a lot of male (Ryan Gold 🙄😒) and female characters in. I don’t like bright colors and flashy patterns – especially Neon colors! But some people do like them though. I generally don’t even pay attention to the fashion unless it’s something that grabs my attention which usually means I found it hideous – again, Ryan Gold and the likes and an array of so MANY of our drama ‘candies’.

But I didn’t notice anything in the drama bar Bae Taemi’s incredibly bright red suit at the end of the of the 2nd episode. That means I didn’t find anything hideous.

hmm.. ya they just look super ill fitted clothes.. women wear pant suits. but when you start dressing up every woman in your story in those clothes and the ones who don’t are “inferior”.. that’s just ..
