I will keep this short & to the point because this show doesn’t deserve anything more.
It was overdramatic & cheesy & it took me a whole day to finish this. Only my trust in beanies’ opinions made me finish this ep, or else I would have dropped it at the 30 min mark. The cinematography & effects hurt my eyes. The sound design was over-the-top. The romance made me laugh & actually made me say eww. That was the stupidest date I had ever seen. Also, wow, look at that. The FL has already been compared with someone stuck in a tower for years that the ML has to save.
Predictably, the FL also becomes an airhead around the ML. And can we all help them try & find this thing called “chemistry”? Because they don’t have it. She has more going on with that new employee of hers than him, to be honest. As for Jang Ki Yong himself, he looks so awkward in his role, I was cringing whenever the camera focused on him.
So, as is clear by now, dropped . I saw the preview & it has more of this stupid contrived romance which I am not here for. I may want female-centric dramas, but I want GOOD female-centric dramas, not shitty ones. So I will pass, thank you very much. However, I feel sad that I will be missing out on Lee Da Hae whose character managed to grab my interest even though she had been onscreen for hardly a few minutes. Sigh. Why am I always in the minority with dramas. Why can’t I love something everyone else is loving at any given point in time?!
Funnily enough, what you call shitty is really working working for me. 😀 I loved the opening episodes and the depiction of women. If it stays this good, I’m here for the ride. He may have tried to compare her to a princess that needs saving, but she sent him packing and saved herself just fine. She is an airhead around him, and everything else not related to her work. Other than that, let’s just say different strokes for different folks.
I enjoyed everything else but the romance. It feels off – he feels off! I found him bland and awkward. I also didn’t like the excessive lighting as it got kinda irritating but so far, the romance aspect has been like a total of 10-15mins. I enjoyed too much of Im Soo Jung and the rest of cast’s interactions to drop it. Especially with Lee Da Hee – their chemistry is very palpable. I’m also loving Bae Taemi as a character herself.
This is pretty much where I’m at. I’m still enjoying almost all the characters, but the romance and the male lead are just not working for me. He just perpetually has this bright-eyed, smiley “charming” expression stuck on his face, like he’s always saying something clever. I’ve adored Jang Ki-yong before, but he makes me feel nothing here.
That said, I agree that, luckily, I could strip the romance away completely, and the best parts of the show would remain intact. Im Soo-jung has chemistry with almost everyone but him in the show, especially Lee Da-hae and Jeon Hye-jin and I’m really invested to see how all their relationships unfold.
Same. The romance feels stilted and out of place. At this point, I’m not even sure what it’s supposed to be doing for the story. Hopefully it’ll get more natural seeming in future episodes. Otherwise I have a feeling I’ll be skipping their scenes…
This drama really works for me. I like that she is not the template career woman shown in dramas who have no life outside work or are shown as cold hearted. She seems to be relaxed outside work, enjoys her drinks/dinner, can have conversations with people etc. Yes the romance doesn’t feel organic. But he is not here to save her. I think she is perfectly capable of handling her life and job. As shown in episode 2.

I feel youuuu…I tried watching WWW for about 10 minutes…I see pretty office, pretty people….zoned out…and changed the channel.
We can still enjoy Arthdal! Hopefully today’s episode is good. Since its a fantasy drama I don’t take it seriously and watch for fun 😆.

I don’t care for the romance. If they can develop it nicely then good. Otherwise it won’t bother me much.
