The Secret Life of My Secretary is now over and I will miss it. It’s been such a long time since I’ve fallen in love with a kdrama romcom in its entirety. I usually cant follow through after episode 12 curse. (Omg i think my last COMPLETED romcom was Still 17). It was cheesy, tropey, cute and emotional in a heartwarming way. I loved it for all its faults. (Fish CPR 😂 and the lady killing herself for a fish. Omg It CANT take itself seriously.).
I like how they ended it. Min Ik will try out for presidency again when he feels more mature. And Dae Ju who has been supporting him gets to be lead.
Min Ik is happy and satisfied with Gal Hee. I loved the relationship between the two. There is no power dynamic. (If anything, Gal Hee has the upper hand). (I loved that little touch with Gal Hee getting annoyed at Min Ik for throwing stuff. Yes, couples aren’t perfect.) While the lie lasted long, i didn’t mind it. Had it finished earlier, im sure the drama would’ve been plotless and I would’ve dropped it.
Last comment: i love the last narrative they bring us. No min ik isn’t permanently cured, but when he DID see faces, he cherished it and would run to his girl. And the ring didn’t matter as long as they love each other (but she still had it).
(Also VP with her camera and Dae jus “awesome” is the RIGHT KINDS OF CRINGY)
This drama is a throwback to 2000 dramas in a good way. love the OST.

I’m so glad that he wasn’t miraculously cured. He didn’t go abroad for some surgery to cure him. A fish didn’t fall from the sky and hit his head in just the right spot to cure him. And they even avoided having her love cure him.

That last narrative telling us he runs to her whenever he sees faces is 1000x more romantic than any airport reunion scene showing a supposedly whole person. Bravo to the writer and director for finally giving us a positive story about living with a disability. (*squints at the drama that shall not be named)

Also to have KYK AND JKJ narrate that line at the same time makes it 10000x times more romantic. No Im not squealing. Oh god im 15 again.

@egads – you summed it up perfectly. The lies lasted as long as they needed to and the bottom line was that Min-ik was still himself even if he couldn’t see faces clearly.
This was a show that didn’t take itself too seriously (cue fish-cpr) but still knew how to drive a point home when he told the board of directors how not seeing faces clearly helped him get to know the people more clearly.
All around I LOVED it and am sad to see it end.
But these two – get a room already okay? all the sexual innuendoes were so much fun?
      *strong thighs- right*

This drama did so many things right. I will enjoy writing up about it.

100% yes to this. I was dreading the “here’s your reward cure from learning the valuable lesson this disability taught you” thing most dramas do. The way this show handled disabilities was a pleasant surprise. We need more of this.

loved that summerization.. its super romantic and real that how people in real life love and manage to live despite their hardships and disability.

this drama is perfect because of the four leads..

and veronica’s characters need special recognition..that character is extremely difficult to pull off.. anyone and everyone would have made it annoying, cringy or too childish

I need to see her again soon!!! What they did well was they kept the annoying angsts at a minimum. If this were another show, not only would have had the Gal her lie… but we would’ve gotten an annoying female lead, more annoying disapproving parents, love triangles, noble idiocy… and i dont think i would’ve been able to deal with that or love a show like that. Here, They kept the angst to only lying, and everything else was dealt with smoothly. Which, for some reason, made it believable (if we overlook fish CPR lol)

lol.. that museum fangirl lady also had minimal angst.. infact quite a few shows recently don’t have it.. but darn.. all of them turn unbearable by ep 12 if not earlier..

While i get what you are saying.. in my opinion, i still think it was the innocence and chemistry of these leads that did wonders… and by extension kudos to the director to be able to bring out this “flavour” in the series..

no where do i feel that things just happened that way, director was really going for this “pure” vibe

i loved all the life lessons this drama gave.. not just the last one but the one where GH’s mom comes and tells to “not to obsess abt whats lost but to cherish what you have” thats something we all forget in our daily life and stress abt one more thing…..
but I am so happy with everything in this drama… it made me content watching it till the last moment .

“it made me content watching it till the last moment”
I don’t remember the last drama that did that for me to be honest.

But then, I don’t remember what I had for dinner last night either. Wait, did I even eat dinner?

glad you feel the same.. and its so hard to get a drama which you fill *all full deep down at heart and soul* cause it gave you all the feelings you could hardly get otherwise… and this is one such drama…. GH’s whole family was the soul of this drama, like water sprinkles on a dried, ignored plant at home….. I am really so so happy that i picked it up….

i mean there’s water in your stomach— by the drama’s logic the fish could still be alive. it might have gotten facial prosopagnosia or a trauma tho. Don’t worry, his true will fix him. And now i feel uncomfortable.

now that i think about it, Gal hee’s poppa being blind was a knowing decision de writer made from the beginning. love it.

            🙂 sorry

every story, every script has everything for a purpose..

Is there something the brother did that served the purpose you are talking about?
