Lookout eps 29-30

Oh Show, and you were doing so well for the past 14 hours. This should have been an emotionally touching and strong penultimate eps, given the many goodbyes and talks about a more hopeful future, and the last confrontation with a certain creepy kid. But everything else about this eps is frustratingly stupid.

I can understand Se-won’s naivety given how lonely she was, and she probably deluded herself that she is the only one who can understand (and change) Si-wan. But her mother’s sudden stupidity made me face-palming and yelling in frustration so many times this hour. I don’t understand why she didn’t tell Do-han about the threat knowing that he was already at school and probably has the best chance at finding and helping her daughter. I don’t understand why she thought Si-wan would fulfil his end of the bargain given how creepy and slippery that kid was. And I definitely don’t understand Suji who kept urging her to do what Si-wan ordered, when she is the one person who refused to believe Si-wan’s charade from the very beginning. Where did my capable and cool-headed detectives go??

Oh Show, surely there’re many other ways to get into this conflict without dumbing down your protagonists. I’m pretty sure I was as astonished watching this eps derailed as Jang Do-han realizing that Si-wan is even sicker than his delusionally twisted Dad.

Ah yes. Welcome to the end of this show, or as I like to call it “fire extinguisher window” in which everyone who was doing so well in their arcs suddenly went OOC and everything lost the plot.
I fully blame the director and the production for this because the writer knows what she’s doing with her characters otherwise.

The director shouldn’t put the fire extinguisher there, because I couldn’t believe that the girl didn’t use it for any of her escape attempt. And the window! I’m pretty sure she fit through that window if she stacked something under it. The worst though, is how they make her fainted (and dramatically at that) when I’m pretty sure she was only in there for no more than 4 hours. Whew… Apparently I’m still super frustrated with this eps.

You wouldn’t believe how mad I got about the fire extinguisher window issue… I was very mad Gadis. Still am and it’s been two years!!! Two years. This drama could’ve ended so well it had all the ingredients and they had to go screw up the execution on the ending! Argh!
