I haven’t watched many – most of the ones I’ve seen are ones that have Korean remakes because I like checking the originals out before the remakes air. I started Hirugao (Love Affairs in the Afternoon) and it’s already so much better than the Korean version – which was just toooooo dull and non-eventful for me.
I think romcom is Japan’s weak point. Their early 2000s dramas were peak romcom (better than ANYTHING airing today) but their modern shows don’t have the same magic.
