Rookie Historian: Ep 3
Crown Prince is growing on me. I love him so far as a character. He instills a bit of fear with his people, yet he can be empathetic and sensible when needed. He strikes the right balance. Definitely voting him for King! And I hope his relationship with his brother remains the same. I would hate for them to have a tiff.
I loved the interaction between him and GHR.
In fact, this episode was a solid episode. It finds the right balance between fun and though provoking. I enjoyed every bit of the the ‘first day at job’, ‘late to job’, ‘women not respected at job’ in the Joseon era. Most of these things still hold true for women in workplace.

Also, I like the GHR is not shown as a ‘know-it-all’ person who will lead all the women to victory. Introducing another solid character (historian Sai Hui) with a different set of skills, the show is managing a nice balance. Also, we got no romance this episode and that is a good thing!

These episodes showed just how fortunate and lucky she and the other female historians are. Not only are they upper class and educated, they are part of a patriarchy that has not had them enslaved or worse.

Good job on the show pointed it out and more importantly pointing it out to her because that is the thing about privilege, when it is your norm, you don’t think about anyone else not having it.

And to add, Park Ki woong, I haven’t forgotten about your turn in Return.

yeah to no Romance cause i am loving the current tone of this drama… fun light and stll deep and thought provoking. esp how patriarchy is difficult to get rid of… cause males cant handle a female doing same work as they do. and moreover they can’t accept the fact that females can actually pass a civil exam….

now back GHR… i just LOVE her antics. the drinking challenge was so real nothing over the top super woman skill just that she used to drink with her brother its her habit to be able to handle her drink. am so looking forward to how she shows those male counterparts mirror of reality.

Crown Prince here is so unlike other dramas, and i am enjoying watching him. CP usually shown either a weak character being chases/threatened for life or someone larger then life to fight any one to save his kingdom. but he is real human being, who has emotions, who knows what people actually want but also knows what to do to make things better….

on short i love everything abt this drama. just wishing CEW could act better….

See, I think he is doing better here than in My ID is Gangham. He has more than one expression, his comedy skills are so far so alright, and damn it if that smile is not all kinds of adorable.

CEW is not great here but I don’t mind him. His role so far is meant to be light and fun and he seems ok with it.
Not sure if we can handle the heavy portions (which seem to be coming, especially with his nightmares and trauma).

oh yes, I loved the drinking challenge. Something she did casually with her brother, but no one expected her to be a pro!!

I’m bummed that I’m in Mexico and Netflix hasn’t even aired the first two eps here yet! I downloaded them before getting down here though so at least I’m on ep 3, but probably won’t t be able to watch it until I get back home! The wait is killing me!
