I’ve been rewatching all the BBC Jane Austen movies/series and gosh how I enjoy period shows. Any suggestions for similar period movies/series? With the same Austen feel?
Far From the Madding Crowd. As far as I know there are two versions, but both are wonderful. Under the Greenwood Tree. Basically anything based on a Thomas Hardy book, but some can be sad like Tess of the D’Urbevilles. It’s wonderful, but hard to watch at times.

North and South. If you have not yet met Mr. Thornton, you are in for a treat.

Oooh yes, thanks for reminding me I have yet to watch N&S. 😏 And officially meet this Mr. Thornton (I’ve seen him on beanie fan wall posts before lol)

*fangirling* Take me along when you meet him!! 😉
In addition, I recommend Wives & Daughters, Cranford, and Return to Cranford (Tom Hiddleston, ‘nuff said). All based on novels by Elizabeth Gaskell. 🤓

Lol! My expectations for Mr. Thornton are so high by this point, I can’t wait to watch!
Tom Hiddleston, you say? 😉

North and South for sure if you haven’t see it.
Wives and Daughters and Cranford are also great and based off of Elizabeth Gaskell novels and I’ve watched both several times.

I would say the film Belle which aired in 2013. It’s lovely to see a black woman play a lead role in a period piece. We need more diversity!
I don’t know if you have seen the remake of Poldark starring adrian turner. Just be warned there is a hefty love triangle.

P&P 😍 I’ve also watched Downton Abbey up until Matthew died. It made me so upset I stopped watching. Pity because I loved the Dowager.
