Another HDL question:

Why did PO need the graduation ceremony? Did he want it? I thought he was just waiting for his dongseang to pass away so he could go. Or was it just MW’s way to taking money? But didn’t she change? No?

Man Wol didn’t change – she’s always going to find a way to get $$ out of her guests. But she also got to give Ji Hyun-joong a legacy by having the school named for him and letting him graduate. It was pretty strongly implied that waiting for his sister was just the excuse he used to hang around.

I think it was also to give him a little more closure, as it was another right of passage he was denied because of the nature and timing of his death. Letting him graduate is one less thing he can regret. But also, because his identity was stolen from him so all the things that were done in his name weren’t actually his. By “graduating” he finally gets something with his name on it that is truly his own and not by proxy.

Understood. It was never implied though. It was a bit random.

I thought Man Wol implied it when she asked whether he was only waiting for his sister – when she was talking to Chan-sung and we see the flashback to him coming to her inn and all that implied that he was doing more than just wait for his sister. Remember, the other members of the staff are also waiting for some sort of revenge before they move on, so it logically makes sense to me that he too would be waiting for some sort of revenge. But that was just my reading. I don’t think it was done very well, but I think that was the intent.
