Confused between what I want to do and what the audience enjoys *cries*. The show is too good but the director clearly looks disappointed that people didn’t enjoy it. Slice of life is a genre that people find difficult to watch because clearly it’s not escapism. There have been people who had to switch to writing sth that only pleases the audience (KES anyone?) but that erases the creative freedom one has. While I also love to write slice of life, I know it doesn’t sell. But seriously here is an early tween who loves the show, who were the ones who couldn’t relate? The cast is positive thankfully but I hope the 1 percent does not discouarge them for writing such amazing, witty, relatable dramas.

Thx for sharing the link. Oof—1% ratings? Perhaps Korean audiences will soon look back and recognize Be Melodramatic for the gem that it is.

It’s depressing to remember but broadcast TV exists for the benefit of its sponsors. The audience is lucky if we get original storytelling out of it. I work for a local PBS affiliate and ratings matter even for us.

I love this show so much and feel fortunate to be watching it live. It would’ve completely missed my attention if not for the Beanies here!

I remember Age of Youth having low ratings but that didn’t stop the writer, director, the cast, and the crew to make a second season happen! This show might not be a popular right now, but I believe it’ll turn out to be a fan favorite like what happened with Age of Youth. Also, Melo is getting mostly positive comments and praises! I hope it gets to the 2% mark before the finale!
