I’m obsessed. Watching the episode twice in just one day. This drama is so hilariously romantic. Can’t get it why the ratings were so shockingly low.

Baek Kyung is acting strange. I think he is starting to realize who he is and remember the ‘shadow’ too. Also in the shadow, he starts having some feelings toward Dan-Oh. But sorry boy, it’s too late. She’s already set her eyes and hopes on someone else. Serves you right. Should have been nicer to her.

I find it particularly interesting that Baek Kyung’s eyes were on her and her animated facial expressions during the staircase scene. He’s noticing her more often than before. Can’t wait to have the recap page for ep 2, so we can discuss this more!

But yes he’s too late. Even she hates her stage self for liking him too much and believes he doesn’t deserve her.

IKR, he keeps checking her out while saying he couldn’t care less about her.

See you on the ep 2 recap. ^_^

I hope to start this today, but worried. I usually love the jerk who falls hard, lol. Poem a Day was one of the times I shipped the other way.

Have fun watching Beverly! It will be fine; lots of boys to choose from! Or you’ll end up rooting for all of them. To give you a little bit of a push, we have two jerks here ;))

Be brave Beverly (what a rhyme). You’ll be rewarded with lots of flower boys and lots of jerks. eieiei. And all of them will be head-over-heels any time soon.

But him acting as a jerk might be out of his control, though…

Yes and it will be really interesting once he becomes self aware and questions everything that he is.

I think Dan Oh’s character is created so that he gets a love line. He is after all a supporting character in Secret, therefore, has a bigger role than Dan Oh. Every scene they have together is for his benefit. He gets a character development and redeems himself in the end. I think his story is about a chaebol boy with a dysfunctional family who eventually falls for the girl he didn’t want to fall in love with because of his father. That dinner stage scene at the Eun’s is for his benefit too.

Poor Dan-oh. She is listed last even in the extra character category. Even Il-Jin, Yi-Jin, and Sam-Jin are all in the higher rank than her. Hahahahaha.

LOLOLOLOL. She’s the last named extra character with a terminal disease whose sole purpose is to pine for a boy who lashes out on her… Can she get any worse? Damn teen romance book!

Oh yeah, she sure can! Her white knight is not even listed in the character intro. An extra of the extras.

Do agree that part if it is due to how the write establishes his character in the manhwa. But I do believe that his own true self is not much different. Once a tsundere, always a tsundere. Let’s see how he will change when he realizes the whole thing including his feelings for Dan-Oh.

But they are not humans hence aren’t they what the writers have made them to be. Like i know dan oh is self aware and is in between the lines of reality and fiction but even she was what she was unless she had some awareness. Ugh, i can’t comprehend it and I guess I shouldn’t look for logic in a show about comic characters.

They have characters of their own. They just don’t remember the time when they are being themselves in the shadow. Just like all the bullies playing together happily like high school kids and not always be the bad guys (because they are only ‘bad’ in relative to the female lead perspective, hence when she’s not around they don’t have to be bad). They only play their roles on the stage, the time in between (when they have no appearance in the manhwa) are theirs.

Fantasy or not, a good story has to build rules for their world. There should be basic ground to explain what happens.

But him being a jerk to her is out of his control. Just like Dan oh being all submissive to him and liking him. That’s their concept, at least in the stage.

My interpretation: the scenes where Dan-Oh can take control of herself are all in the ‘shadow’ where characters can all be themselves but will not remember any of it. And I see no difference in his behavior toward Dan-Oh. If he is a jerk on and off stage, then he’s a jerk.

But I do like him and can’t wait to see him goes head over heels for Dan-Oh and then we’ll get a steamy jealousy fiance-second lead.

Self-Theory: Extra characters spend more time in the shadow i.e. being themselves, less busy playing the role on stage, that’s why they likely gain consciousness. Mr.Squiddy and Dan-Oh are both extras. Haru should be more self-aware since he’s an unnamed extra, extra of extras.

But, please show, please explain why these three are different from others. I’m curious. And, please, I don’t want Dan-Oh’s heart condition to become the obstacle of her getting her happiness at the end. I warn you, show.
