Drunk Lan WangJi is even better in the novel then the drama. I stayed up WAY too late reading last night because of this book. Who can deny wrists tied with a forehead ribbon and hide-and-seek? I regret nothing!

He approached Lan WangJi, harboring no good intentions at all. Lan WangJi passed the wooden screen only to run into the table that he himself blocked the doors with. Wei WuXian walked past the screen, chasing after him, while he went the other way around. The two circled the screen for quite a number of times, and Wei WuXian was just starting to feel the fun of it as he suddenly realized, What am I doing? Playing hide-and-seek? What is this? Am I out of my mind? Lan Zhan is drunk, but why am I also playing with him?

Noticing that the person chasing him had stopped, Lan WangJi stopped as well.

Hiding behind the screen, he showed only half of his fair-skinned face, peeking silently at the direction of Wei WuXian.

Wei WuXian watched him carefully. He still looked so prim and proper, as though the six-year-old who chased Wei WuXian around the screen was somebody else.

Wei WuXian, “Do you want to continue?”

Expressionless, Lan WangJi nodded.

Thanks for this! I wish they did more drunk LWJ scenes in the drama, he was absolutely hilarious!

Totally out of character but still expressionless, hahaha!

Agreed! I do love the drunken scenes in the drama but I would have loved seeing Lan Zhan playing hide-and-seek in the drama 🤣

Drunken LZ trying to straighten his ribbon was my first favorite moment of the drama, and the scene that absolutely sealed the deal for me. Fell totally in love with the drama at that point. He was so adorable, that was also the scene that sold WYB as LZ for me.
You are way ahead of me in the novel. I’m stuck on Grasses.

I was kind of sad they clubbed the two different drunk scenes into one, but then they gave us a different drunk scene in the past as their teenage selfs.

    I love it! ๐Ÿ˜€

Ah, if only they had done one more drunk scene. Just once more. 😂

Am I watching these episodes as you are reading them? I just saw this scene last night. WWX is a cad, but a very disarming one in this scene. I can decide if heโ€™s just being juvenile or if he really is attracted romantically to LZ right now. I think reading the book would help me with that.

      *Canโ€™t decide

He is very obtuse both in the drama and novel. LZ loved him pretty early on in both the drama and novel. But WWX has no clue of either LZ’s feelings or his own for a long time. And even then it takes him awhile to figure out anything. In the novel he actually thought LZ hated him in his past life, and described their relationship as just ok. So in the drama if you are still in the early episodes, he is being juvenile. They are supposed to be around 15 years old during the time they are learning at the Lan sect.

Ah, got it. Heโ€™s like a puppy that wants to be liked and get attention right now.

Why do I never see your response until after I’ve posted something along the same lines! Then I see your post and realize your response is much better…

You only tease the one you love, whether you realize it or not. (I believe that’s implied somewhere in the novel – someone with a better memory than mine can tell you!).

And boy does he love teasing LZ! Just takes him forever to figure out WHY he likes teasing him.

I know! He’s certainly trying hard enough to get some kind of emotional response from LZ, besides “boring”.

Itโ€™s Gilbert Blithe (WWX) and Anne Shirley (LZ). I gotcha!

          I don’t know who these people are…

Anne of Green Gables. A classic boy likes girl and teases her mercilessly until she breaks a slate over his head.

Oops, I should have known who those people were! (It’s been a few years since I either read or watched the movie).

The hide-and-seek is just too cute. I wish we could see that in the drama version. But yeah, I don’t regret having Wangji admitted to his biggest regret during their Q&A session instead. That was beautifully done and very bittersweet.

Yes! That is my favorite moment of the whole drunk LZ sequence. Makes me want to scream at obtuse WY to just hug him already.

        lol @ Q&A session!

One of my absolute favorite lines from the drunk scenes is when LZ declares that WY is “wo duh” (mine) and of course WY misunderstands that he meant Bichen that he is carrying on his back. 😆

The hide and seek and then running back to be caught ….too cute.

Hey! You left out the good stuff at the end! 😂

I love drunk LZ. It’s even better in the book!

The whole like 2 chapters are full of good stuff 🤣 Like the hand trying part with his forehead ribbon, then how he proudly displays the poor tied up WWX to the horribly shocked juniors. Or the licking and purposefully getting caught to the kiss. Pure gold 😍

I so want to watch the juniors shocked speechless by Wangji displaying Wuxian all tied up with his forehead ribbon. That was gold. And I love all their whispering speculations afterward about whether Wuxian understand the importance of that ribbon or not.

The audio drama gives us “mwah” kissing sound on the hand!!! I was driving when listening and almost died from squeeing too hard!!

Don’t listen to MDZS audio drama and drive, folks!!!

Thank God I don’t understand Chinese, so I have to read subtitle while listening to it. My favorite is the “accompanying you to sleep” extras. Those were perfect to feed my delusional fangirl imagination.
