Appreciation for the women. Women who crossdress to be soldiers, women who refuse advantageous marriages to earn her own way, women who will call you on your sh!t but still support you unreservedly even if you choose the hard way, women will take 20 years to track down and punish men who harmed another woman, women who engage in school yard fights over poetry, and women who (though probably evil) uses a man’s own sword to cut his throat mid conversation when he questions her ability because she is just a girl.
All the characters are awesome. I especially love all the women also. They show so many different types of women and they are all very well portrayed and written. They are realistic and kickass 😍
Xianrong….. I don’t want to fall for her more (she’s not very nice) and your post is not helping 😭😭 but Xianrong, you’ve fought really hard to get to where you are.
Lady Huo – the go to lady of everybody. Men and women respect her, look up to her and seek for her assistance. I hope she’ll find her own happiness someday too.
XiaoJun – one of the best girlfriends ever.
Manting ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ My second favourite girl in the show. I’m on episode 34 now and she continues to amaze me.
Xiang Xiang – my girl – who is not fazed by anything, very strong and capable woman, strives everyday to be on equal footing with all the men in her life. I love you.
Even if she does have unrequited feelings for Yanzhen, her feelings never made her any less of a great woman that she is. She is amazing through and through. This is coming from me who ships Xiang Xiang and Yanzhen hard. I love Manting a lot.
I haven’t skipped any of the scenes. I became more absorbed with it as the story progresses. I slept on some of earlier scenes (ie Sargent Guo and Lady Huo’s flashback) because they were too many characters introduced, but when I became familiar with each one of them, I went back and rewatched the scenes that I thought were boring to fully understand their story.

I so wanted Manting to just become best friends with Gu Yanzhen with no mixed up feelings.
I’m only on ep 12 and telling myself to stay away from @halfmoon ‘s spoilers.

Manting is my favorite. I love her 😍
The drama slowed a bit for me in the teens and I started getting a bit bored but after some of those episodes it hasn’t lagged or bored me since.
