Extraordinary You, Ep 9 (post #2)

I have to say that I have my complaints with the fact that Haru & Baek Kyung are fighting over Danoh, often when she’s in the scene – it’ll be Haru that stands up for her, not Danoh herself. 🙄 When he’s not around she stands up for herself just fine.

Listen I get it. I find that I also tend to do this around guys I like – rely on them unnecessarily. It’s a component of my personality I hate. Why does that particular feeling turn me into such a Candy? My real personality is pretty straightforward. I feel like I’m Danoh off stage & on stage when I’m on my own vs with a guy I like.

Not that I’ve been with a guy I like in years. The crush on Min Yoongi aside, it’s been … ages.

This has digressed.
Okay, bye.

Did you just say “crush on Min Yoongi”. Crush? GF, say it isn’t so! The wedding plans are so advanced. There are draft scripts and everything.

😣😣 but, but…he’s a millionaire superstar in South Korea & I don’t even make the tax bracket as a rookie attorney here in India. If you were to try and write this love story, even all of dramaland’s tropes may not be enough to bring the OTP together.

I still think giving him legal trouble in India and him being forced to live with you while you defend him is a solid Plan A. If the logistics seem a bit difficult, stalking seems quite culturally acceptable in Korea. If I win the lottery this weekend, we’ll make The Business of Bahu a reality.

😂😂 I’m loving these plans. I’m a bit skeptical of this reliance on fate so I hope you’re fated to win the lottery. That way you’ll be rich (muahajaha) & we can do something about The Business of Bahu. But frankly, if we’re relying on fate, I’d like to win the lottery as well (muahahahaha)

Pfft, all we need is a meet cute with an idol running away from something while wearing a face mask, while an adorable Indian fan girl is minding her own business, headphones on, listening to her favorite music (you know who), and a little wee crash that employs some Korean gravity.

I’m not sure I count as adorable. Consider me more Seo Hyun-jin than Kim So-hyun? But overall, I’m down for this. Except – he’d crash into me, I’d fall down & he’d continue running while I curse internally.

Sounds like the perfect recipe for a kdrama to me 😉

I can see the successful man – poor girl trope in there yes. It’s also a noona romance. But nope.

Um…..rich hero and working class heroine…..yeah pretty farfetched for a romcom.

I say you learn korean and try to become a manager for a kpop group. Meet him backstage at one of the music shows.

😂 this would be a Netflix drama given its international nature. Not to mention that I’m not white, but of a skin colour that is looked down upon by South Korean society. The potential issues of racism would definitely add much gravity & depth to our simple rom com. @leetennant

I have to admit I was not thinking of that. I’m not sure if it is something I’ve seen a kdrama adress?

I was thinking of his scary fans. No offense to army, but some seem intense. What if you met Suga but fell in love with the second lead? Someone a little older….

@bcampbell1662 – I’d even say full offense to army. Fans will go after the workplace & families of girls BTS members are revealed to be dating. Did you see what happened with the tattooist JK was rumoured to be dating? Scary.

BUT also – I have to tell you picked the perfect second lead. I’m a Baby/Babyz too & adore Yongguk. It doesn’t help that he’s a bit older too – same year as me – equally charming & less famous.

Also, I’m enjoying this conversation too much. 🤣 So to reiterate the original point. Even all of Kdrama’s tropes can’t bring this OTP together.

Also Kdramas don’t feature international romances? Japanese dramas are better at that – I’ve seen two. One even had Kim Tae-hee as the female lead.

How about a Hallmark film then? Have you thought about inheriting a guesthouse on Jeju Island?

@leetennant I’ll take that guest house. Come stay with me, we’ll offer Korean tourists a choice of the Indian or Australian experience – it’ll be a winner, I’m sure of it.

I think the difference is that Dan-oh is a bit more dismissive of Baek-kyung and is less likely to make a big deal of Kyung’s abuse when Haru isn’t around. She definitely stands up for herself, but her tendency is to just chalk up his BS to his rude personality and move on with her life. By contrast, I think Haru takes Kyung’s abuse more seriously than even Dan-oh does.
