Also, did I miss something in translation because shouldn’t the king have been happy that his son would be the next king? (as in after him) I don’t understand this at all… #TaleofNokdu
Nokdu’s grandfather was the king, the current king Gwanghae was only the crown prince. So the shaman told him his grandfather would pass the crown to Nokdu and skip him.
This is how I interpreted the scene with the shaman/fortune teller – the current king was the crown prince when he found out from her that his yet-to-be born son would be the next king, ie he would be passed over for throne in favor of his son so he decided to kill his son to secure the throne. Totally sick but sort of make sense for a power-hungry ambitious crazy man.
Ah, okay. Makes sense (but only a little). His personality runs the gamut of friendly-abuji type to power-hungry psychopath, but I wish he’d have given his son a chance to live…

Same. Maybe it would skip him, because although he’s the son of a concubine, his son is the child of a queen?
Or having a son would neutralise his claim and give it to his half-brother?

I have no idea, but I wish there was more to this idiotic reasoning.

He still would have been regent for a while, wouldn’t he? How could he decide to kill his own son? >.<

Yes, but he kinda seemed reasonable enough in that other flashback…well, I’ll just chalk it up to bad writing…

And I also wish he’d stop poking people in the vital organs with sharp pointy things if they say things he doesn’t like…
