I was just waiting for somebody to say “neither” because I know people hated these two shows. But I want to know the why.

Haven’t seen Bride of the Water God although i have never seen a good thing. Mama Fairy started off really weird and quirky and funny and then doubled down on the world’s worst romance and assassinated a bunch of its characters. I dropped it around episode 12 because I physically couldn’t watch it anymore.

I did see one comment from one person who liked it and thought it was getting a bad rap.

But I want to see something with Seo Ji hoon. I’d never heard of him til Flower Marriage Agency where he was the king but he really got a bum rap on that deal. Couldn’t stand the OTP and SJH had barely any screen time. And he was good, too. He out acted everybody else. Besides which, he’s kinda cute.

I just looked up his filmography and apparently he was in Prison Playbook. Now that is one drama I haven’t seen that a lot of people loved. Not sure how big a role he had in it but it’s also on Netflix (at least in my region) so it’s quite easy to watch too.

@leetennant Ah, Prison Playbook – been meaning to try and watch that. Netflix it is.

Or Yang Se jong in Saimdang, Light’s Dairy.
I simply can’t watch the end of My Country: New Age because I know what happens to Yang Se jong’s character.

I’ll go for Saimdang, but he doesn’t have too much screen time in this one. I ff’d the rest.

I’ll skip Bride and Woodcutter. Bad acting, bad stories, not worth your time.

Are you picking your next watch by your favorite actors?

I cant comment on fairy and woodcutter, but bride of the watergod was awful. Bad acting (ML was especially bad), plot was nonsensical boring and badly written, not interesting characters, clearly low budget and the romance felt fake and little chemistry between the leads.

I adore NJH, but I can’t defend him in Bride of the Water God. I have come to terms with the fact that he wasn’t a good fit for that role. In addition to that, the writing let down the show as a whole and the secondary leads didn’t help matters. Personally, I’ll take the mess that was Hwayugi over this drama any day.

I wanted to like Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter, but it couldn’t keep my attention. I just leave it at that. Seo Ji-hoon needs a good drama.

I know I didn’t help you with much in the pros and cons department, but yeah. Neither had many pros to begin with.

It’s “neither” for me. If you want to watch something with those actors I’d recommend…

For Nam Joo Hyuk: The Light In Your Eyes (sad puppy), Weightlifting Fairy (one of the few rom-coms I’d recommend), School 2015 (not so great, but he attempts to portray a swimmer=abs?).

For Seo Ji Hoon: Drama Special “The Legendary Lackey” (it’s hilarious please try it!), School 2017 (a minor but okay role), Solomon’s Perjury (going on beanie recommendations, I haven’t seen it).

      Second Solomon’s Perjury.

Light in Your Eyes is the reason I wanted more NJH. I’ll probably end up watching that one. Weightlifting Fairy, no, tried it, just, no. I’d love to watch Legendary Lackey but I can’t find it anywhere just yet. Solomon’s Perjury, too high school for my taste.
Thanks for your suggestions! I’m quite picky, if you haven’t noticed.
