hearing about the suicides – most recently Goo Hara – is really horrifying… there is something terribly wrong with the SK entertainment industry to have so many people killing themselves…

I´m wondering just how isolated these young people were that they couldn´t tell anyone? Is there some hushing policy? It needs to be brought out to the open, this cannot continue!!!

it has to be a cultural — netizens posting harsh comments daily/hourly? hmm, sounds like our US president trump to the same detrimental effect…

does this happen in other countries as rampantly as it does in SK?

I think it is beyond just the entertainment industry in SK, they just get the press. They have a very high suicide rate rate. I think it is one of the highest.

Yes, it’s a reflection of a problem in the wider SK society. The entertainment industry is just part of it, but this is truly horrifying.
I think for it to change, a huge cultural shift needs to happen so that people think of mental health as JUST health 🙁

Yes. Overall mental health and quality of life.
Because of dramas I always wonder how important sleep is in Korea. It sounds silly, but it seems like everyone is always working or studying way into the night. It is seen as praiseworthy, but it is not healthy for the body or the mind.
