There’s actually a deeper meaning as to why Lan Wang Ji wants to bring Wei Wu Xian back and keep him at Cloud Recess…. I was in tears and basically a wreck when it was explained in the drama (not by Lan Wang Ji himself, but rather, explained by Lan Xi Chen)
Drama couldn’t portray this as how stubborn a Lan family member became when they loved someone. In the novel it was obvious that LXC wanted to clue WWX in using the tragic story of their parents.
In the drama, it was done as a flashback as Lan Xi Chen was explaining the fallout that Lan Zhan had to face after what happened in the battle at Nevernight and then the significance of the house hidden in the back of Cloud Recess (the home of the Lan brothers’ mother when their father brought her back and basically hid her away) to Wei Wu Xian 🙂
