I am so so happy! I thought that they should win 4 or 5 out of 6 last week and they won 4 :).
I’m thankful for the previous foreign films like ROMA for paving the way for PARASITE to be the first foreign film to win an OSCAR.
Yay to the Acedamy for voting for PARASITE. That’s awesome to see!
Park Chan-wook you are next.

And his acceptance speech after the Best Director win was so humble! I love the man!

I agree. So humble even with so many people praising him and his work.
I think that’s part of the reason why the critics and basically everyone who had seen PARASITE were rooting for him and his film to win.

exactly… those words, him being so humble, and his tears.. it was like no bug deal but biggest at the same time for him…. his words were the treat to hear.

Bong Joon-ho has been gracious and humble in every award shows and inerviews he’d done. I can’rt get enough of him lol. IRC Parasite won 50+ awards so far.

I love how he honored the other directors too. The standing ovation for the great Martin Scorsese was touching and his ugly cry for being honored by Bong made me teared up.
Quentin Tarantino has been a fan of Bong Joon-ho for a long time. THE HOST and MEMORIES of MURDER are two of his top favorite films.
I watched them at the Busan film festivals and they were awesome together.

We need more Bong Joon-ho and Song Kang-ho. Talented and humble.

I was hoping ROMA would win last year, but looking back at it, I’m glad it didn’t.

If it had won, the impact would not be as significant as this year’s Parasite. The media would have made it about Netflix and its money rather than about a non-English film winning an award. This year, with Parasite, it definitely does feel historic.

I am so estatic about the 4 wins. My expectation was that it would only won 2. I’m so glad it won more.

South Korea really knows how to spread their culture. From music, to dramas, to food, to skin care, and now language. With Bong Joon Ho speaking in Korean in this award season, more people will get accustomed to the language. They would say “Ooh, that language is so pleaseing to the ears. Maybe I could learn it.”

I was thinking about the impact if ROMA had won too. I wasn’t sure they’d give the Best Picture again to another foreign film. But, it cracked the door wider for future foreign films and gave them a better chance at winning the biggest award.

2019 was a great year in cinema. The winner could go to any of the nominees and most would be ok with it but PARASITE was the most loved by critics and movie nerds lol. No fan of cinema is going to complain, in fact most were rooting for PARASITE to win all 6 nominations.

This is my should win pick from last week and they won exactly 4 and all in the same categories.

6 Oscar nominations is pretty Amazing for a foreign film.

I think it should win 4 or 5 out of 6 (best international feature film, best motion picture of the year, best director and best original screenplay) but sadly it’s run by Hollywood and I don’t think they will be that generous.
I think FORD V FERRARI should win best editing and 1917 is a tough contender for production design although I’d still pick PARASITE.”

I’m glad to admit I was wrong about Hollywood. I guess the 1 inch barrier of subtitles didn’t matter :).

I didn’t want to be too greedy but PARASITE should have won Best Editing and Production design too. The competitions was really tough, the others very good too but still I’d pick PARASITE and I agree with these assessments.

My choice was Parasite for production too but I didn’t want to be so greedy because 1917 was awesome and Once Upon a Time was too.
I thought 1917 was going to win but I’m happy for Once Upon a Time.

This last year had a lot of great movies. It was so hard to pick and not doubt yourself lol.

I think Roma would have won Best Picture last year if it hadn’t been a Neflix film, but now I’m glad it didn’t for the same reasons.

Netflix got 2 Oscars this year with Laura Dern winning supporting actress for MARRIAGE STORY and AMERICAN FACTORY for documentary.

Thanks to “Marriage Story” I’m in love with Adam Driver. He is the only reason why I wanted to watch the last STAR WAR movie and boy did he carry that movie.
