does anyone else get EXTREME ANXIETY due to the paper-thin walls in the palaces in sageuks? Like, every time a secret is told inside, I panic. PEOPLE CAN HEAR YOU THROUGH THE WALLS. GO UP TO THE MOUNTAINS TO REVEAL THIS KIND OF THING.

Hahaha, this used to bother me a lot but now I just accept that they are only paper-thin if it serves to move the plot along.

    Everytime.

It feels like a horror movie, no matter what.

That and stairways in modern kdramas. Like dude, your secrets are just echoing all up and down this stairway.

JIGALINE HERMIONE JIG. I did not need to start realizing this!!!!!!! but you are absolutely right. it is one of the laws of dramas (see also: no one is actually asleep when you touch their face. the only way to get there is by making a u-turn. and no secret is safe in a stairwell.)

Haha yes never trust a person who looks like they are asleep (personal experience cause I’m great at resting my eyea in public and the things I hear cause they assume I’m asleep…)
For u-turns, also the fact that Korea just neeever has any traffic unless someone needs to be hit by a car of course.

There was an older sageuk… I don’t rememver which one… Maybe Dong Yi? It was mentioned in the show that the ladies-in-waiting knew every word ever said in the palace. And the amount of secrets that got out depended on each one of the ladies’ loyalty, fear, or greed. This made so much sense to me and made me feel much better while watching sageuks. Although I still do get extreme anxiety when people are plotting treason!

Not to mention discussing their plan to thwart baddies right out in the open in a crowd of people and shouting to the world at large to boot!
