So Theme of the Month no longer exists on Dramabeans? I genuinely looked forward to them! Should I start my own blog to write mindless essays even though no one will read them ? Just thinking out loud
I’m not really paying attention to the recaps, are people hating the women again? *sigh
I will most definitely be chiming in on episode 5 recap though because I was very happily surprised that a kdrama went there, and did that, and so damn positively too. Lee Joo-young as Hyun-yi is fantastic.
Haven’t watched 5 yet. I tuned out of the comments when it was getting heated, but that was over age gaps I think.
For me, it got to a point where it was like one of those old talk shows where groups of people just shout at each other.
I found the women interesting in IC, the female character I am having a hard time with right now is on Never Twice. And I do hate on her.
In the case of Itaewon Class, so SooAh is getting so much hate for being ambiguous in her position but still liking the male lead.
Yi-seo, who people are praising for being «bad-ass» tried to stop an intoxicated SooAh from kissing male lead (PSJ) -who btw was consenting- by saying there was no consent (but there was) and when she (Yi-seo) had kissed PSJ’s character herself while HE was unconscious and intoxicated. Double standards.
Yi-seo seems to lack empathy and would have no problem hurting people (but she doesnt get hate because she decides to help PSJ) and Sooah ,who isn’t always in the clear, at least feels guilty about her actions. Idk Im just…. ugh

with the currently airing Itaewon Class, I think a good theme would be “Our double standards in hating kdrama characters”
