Yoon Kye-sang still crazy about acting

Y’all know I have much affection for actor and former idol star Yoon Kye-sang. That affection endures despite his role as one of the most irritating characters in the recent drama Triple, and I’m eager to see the new movie he has coming out (the prison drama Executioners), which looks great. Here’s an interview with him as he promotes the new film.

“Even now, I’m still crazy about acting. And I believe in myself.”

It’s been six years since Yoon Kye-sang began acting. In 2004’s Flying Boys, he stood with uncertain eyes, not knowing where he was supposed to go, and is now a 32-year-old young man acting in movies. In the wake of his idol glory, he has been quietly walking the path of an actor. There were people who threw stones, and others who spit at him. Praise was scant, and his path was strewn with thorns. All the while, Yoon Kye-sang was always growing within his roles. No, the roles he chose reflected Yoon Kye-sang’s feelings of that time.

After he was released from military service, we met him in Crazy for Love after he’d split from a long-time girlfriend. The movie Lovers for Six Years was also an autobiographical project.

Yoon Kye-sang was called a traitor for leaving G.O.D. before the sixth album; they went on to release a seventh before disbanding (unofficially; rumors periodically surface that they may make a comeback). Yoon recently said that he had ended a six-year romance as he headed into military service, as both parties got busier and they naturally drifted apart.

A new look for Park Yong-ha’s new album

Yiiikes. Love ya, dude (Story of a Man rules all, y’all), but singer-actor Park Yong-ha’s artwork for his new Japanese single album is, um, maybe not the best way to showcase his lovely features.

Don’t get me wrong, I know there’s a concept at work — I just think it’s a little harsh and borderline garish. The imagery is supposed to evoke a Pierrot mask (those clown masks with white faces and a painted teardrop); I say at least there’s a second image showing him looking more like his usual gentle image. (See below.)

Jang Hyuk to welcome second child

Actor Jang Hyuk has announced his happy news: after being married last year, he’s now expecting his second child. Jang broke the news while doing press for his new movie, the racy, adultery-themed Penthouse Elephant [펜트하우스 코끼리], with what the reporter calls “a very bashful expression.”

This announcement comes late in the pregnancy, as his wife is currently seven months along, and the couple’s due date is around the end of the year or early January. Jang’s first child was born about two months prior to his June 2008 wedding. He had been dating his wife for six years, as the couple had had waited to marry until he returned from army service in late 2006. Jang explained that with his first child, he’d made a lot of preparations, picking out a name and even trying to talk to the unborn baby, “But with the second, I’m so busy that I haven’t been able to do anything, and I’m sorry to my wife.”

Aside from Penthouse Elephant, Jang is also promoting his other film Rabbit and Lizard (which he and co-star Sung Yuri acted in without pay), while also filming the upcoming sageuk thriller Chuno, which will air early next year.

Tablo and Kang Hye-jung tie the knot

Ever since quirky actress Kang Hye-jung (Herb) and Epik High rapper Tablo announced their relationship earlier this year, they’ve been very open with their affection for each other, and announced last month that they were expecting their first child. The couple had been intending on marrying next year, but the news spurred them to push up the date, and now the day has come: their wedding, which will be closed to the public, takes place tomorrow (or today, by Korea’s time), on October 26.

The ceremony, which will be closed to the public, will take place at the Bailey House in Seoul’s Samsung-dong neighborhood and only be attended by the couple’s family and a small number of friends. It will be emceed by fellow Epik High-er Mithra Jin.

Following the wedding, the newlyweds will take off for Europe for their honeymoon, after which they’ll move into an apartment in Yongsan to begin their married life together.
