Eom Ki-joon just finished up a drama—May 4 was the finale of OCN’s The Virus—and rather than taking a break he’s headed immediately back to work for more performances, this time onstage, with some time to answer questions and take interviews like this one.

Or rather, we can say he’s continuing the stage performances instead of starting, because as it turns out he’d been doing a musical concurrent with drama filming, like a crazy person. While The Virus was still ongoing, he was juggling the role with one in The Three Musketeers, which continued. Now that the drama’s over, he’s added a new musical to the roster and is busily rehearsing for Monte Cristo, which will run from June 7 through August 4.

javabeans: Uh-oh, bad news for Joo-won, who just suffered an injury to the nose while filming an upcoming episode of 1 Night 2 Days. Apparently he was knocked unconscious mid-shoot, then taken to the emergency room while filming stopped.

girlfriday: Eeeeeep. I know we always joke about wanting the games on 1N2D to be violent, but not this kind of violent.

javabeans: Yes, like forehead-flicking and shin-kicking. Not face-disfiguring. He was reportedly playing the “king” role in a “game of pride” involving football when he hit his nose on someone else’s head and was unable to get up. He reportedly also hurt his nose while filming Level 7 Civil Servant, but I don’t think that was a big injury. Still, not the face!

girlfriday: It’s like Rule No. 1. Don’t mess with The Pretty. They violated Rule No. 1.

It’s safe to say that Gu Family Book turned Choi Jin-hyuk into an overnight star, even though he had steadily been acting for the better part of a decade and had leading roles in other dramas. I know a fair contingent of us here have long been fans of his gentle charisma (Pasta, I Need Romance, It’s Okay Daddy’s Girl, Panda and Hedgehog), but it was Gu Family Book that turned him into a star on the rise.

Choi Jin-hyuk was so winning as the romantic gumiho mountain spirit who suffers a tragic fate after falling in love with a mortal that his fame spiked instantly despite a mere two-episode guest appearance (although he is slated for a reappearance down the line). I’ve long wanted to see him in a role that did him justice (I can only sit through so many subpar dramas just to see him), so I love that he’s finally enjoying his moment in the spotlight and hopefully getting ready to parlay that into bigger and better roles.

Ah, that time after an actor wraps a drama and finally has time to give tons of interviews and shoot photo spreads… Kang Ji-hwan recently finished up his weekend revenge-and-money-and-corruption drama Incarnation of Money, and we’ve got a slew of interviews and photos, like the cover he recently shot for May’s issue of The Star magazine.

In that magazine and in other interviews he’s given recently (I’m condensing several into this post), he talked about how he felt about the drama, his legal battles with his former management company, and his plans for the future.

Ha, adorable. Park Hae-il gets in touch with his inner goofball for this new Vogue Korea photo shoot, which just makes me smile. He looks like a big doofus, but also maybe the world’s best-dressed doofus. I have no idea why he’s waving around a fish or holding close a… turnip?… but damned if he isn’t workin’ it.

Park Hae-il has a new movie coming out soon, a comedy titled Aging Family wherein he plays the middle brother in a family of (not to sugarcoat) aging losers who can’t get along and who can’t act their age. That would explain the comedic bent of the photo spread, since his previous roles have given him a rather serious image; his recent filmography is full of action thrillers, dark crime movies, and serious dramas like Bow, the Ultimate Weapon, Moss, and Eungyo.

You’re welcome. Here’s Jung Seok-won (Haeundae Lovers, Rooftop Prince) in a shoot for Esquire, making days brighter everywhere he goes. Am suddenly discovering I have a newfound appreciation for suspenders…

The actor recently announced his upcoming wedding to ballad singer Baek Ji-young this June (*clap clap* — they’re so adorable) and all I have to say is, if all noonakillers looked like this, I’d date a guy nine years younger too. Just sayin’.

How cool is this? Lee Shi-young, who took up amateur boxing a few years ago, has now qualified to be part of South Korea’s national boxing team. Dude. That’s awesome. I recall reading headlines that she was hoping to make the Olympic team, and now she’s one step closer to that goal.

Lee Shi-young, age 31, won her match in the final round for the national team tryouts on April 24 against her 19-year-old opponent (score 22-20). She’s the first celebrity to become a national team athlete for any sport. She competed in the 48kg weight class (Flyweight) but plans to compete at this year’s nationals in October in the 51kg category, since there is no 48kg class at the Asian Games.

Lee Soo-kyung has a new drama and a new image to go with it; she goes bold and fierce for this InStyle magazine shoot, which plays off her image as a villainess character in her current drama, I Summon You Gold. It’s not a look I would have chosen for her, but she pulls it off with aplomb, I’d say, looking strong and striking.

I was a bit surprised when Lee Soo-kyung took on a second lead role in I Summon You, Gold, and that it was an antagonist’s role, then again when she chopped off all her hair to transform her look. Because while she has experimented with different kinds of projects before (which I like about her), she’s always been so likable that I’m not sure I want to see her being hateful or bitchy. Even when her characters are deeply flawed, she’s always managed to find some way to make them engaging, like she did in last year’s Color of Woman (her character was materialistic and frivolous, but bubbly and fun all the same).

The K-webs are abuzz with this piece of news, which is likely to dominate for the next day or two, with Jo In-sung (That Winter, the Wind Blows, What Happened In Bali) and Kim Min-hee (Temperature of Love, Moby Dick) admitting that they’re dating.

The key points:

• His agency put out a statement on April 24 confirming the news.
• They began dating earlier this year. They describe their relationship as “early stages.”
• Reportedly, they’ve been unable to date much with him doing his drama and her tied up with movie work.
• They’d obviously met before; photos posted here come from a fashion shoot they did 12 years ago.
• There’s a Kim C connection as well: The singer is good friends with Jo In-sung, and things got started when Kim C called out Kim Min-hee’s good friend and stylist, who brought Kim Min-hee out with her. Ha, Kim C the matchmaker, who knew?
