Aw, does the vengeance mastermind need a hug? A snuggle wasn’t really the concept I was expecting when KBS released the character posters for its revenge thriller Shark, but hey, every wronged-hero-turned-mysterious-avenger needs to cry on somebody’s shoulder, right? The new Monday-Tuesday drama is gearing up to premiere in just over a week, and even though I’m still not convinced it’s not Bad Guy all over again, I guess I won’t really care as long as it’s Bad Guy: Bigger, Better, Badder.

Ooh, here’s our first peek at Lee Jong-seok in his new drama I Hear Your Voice, getting ready to air on Wednesdays and Thursdays on SBS. Um, they kind of look exactly like stills from his last drama School 2013, except maybe Go Nam-soon would just wear his scars like an accessory instead of hiding them with bandaids. When do I get to watch a drama where Lee Jong-seok doesn’t get beat up for his lunch money? His pain is my pain, people.

It’s good to hear that Kim So-yeon has signed on to a new project, going contemporary this time (her last drama was a sageuk, The Great Seer) for upcoming MBC drama Two Weeks. I feel like she’s been underused in recent years and would really love to see her back in her element. Maybe a thriller-mystery-chase drama will be the ticket?

That means she’ll be starring alongside Lee Jun-ki—or should I say opposite, since their characters are at cross-purposes: He’s the hero who’s wrongly accused of murder and is scrambling to save his sick daughter, while she’s the prosecutor who’s chasing him down. (He’s also being pursued by a professional killer, so I’m expecting that there’ll be a lot of chasing. Run, Jun-ki, run!)

SBS is really going all-out in casting Heirs (or He Who Wears the Crown, Endure Its Weight: Heirs), with all the hot young stars it’s drawn into its casting net: The latest is none other than Kim Woo-bin (School 2013, Vampire Idol, White Christmas), which should make some people very happy. He’ll join Lee Min-ho and Park Shin-hye, our two leads, and add even more pretty to the mix.

(I recall reading comments after the last casting tease about Choi Jin-hyuk that the only downside to Choi being added was that dreams of Kim Woo-bin joining were dashed. Well, let this be a lesson to you all: Never accept an either-or situation when you can have BOTH. Greediness is happiness!)

Lee Jun-ki recently signed on to play the hero of MBC’s upcoming Two Weeks, and now he’s got his enemy: Song Jae-rim has just joined the production and will play an expert killer who’s chasing down our hero. (In case you don’t recognize Song Jae-rim in the above picture, you may recognize him better—I know I did—sporting the long flowing tresses he had as the bodyguard in The Moon That Embraces the Sun, and also as part of the posse in Flower Boy Ramyun Shop. Hm, lots of Jung Il-woo love there.)

Two Weeks is the new thriller drama from the writer of 49 Days and Brilliant Legacy, So Hyun-kyung, and puts our hero on the run when he becomes the fall guy in a murder. Complicating his case is the daughter he finds out he has, who’s suffering from leukemia. No word yet on why Song is chasing the hero, though I’ll hazard the guess that he’s the real culprit and he’s out to tie loose ends. Or perhaps he’s working for the culprit, just doing his job. Killing people and such.

Kwon Sang-woo (Yawang) is busily eyeing his next drama project, and rumor has it he just may be the new hero for Age of Feeling. He’s not a final lock and word is that he “has received the offer but has not been confirmed,” with his reps being a bit coy about his decision.

This is good news in that I was starting to wonder whether the show was going to move forward. I’d been intrigued by the premise of this “romantic period action noir” drama and thus bummed when Lee Jun-ki, who was previously in contention, decided to take a different drama instead. But now the drama has got a broadcaster and a timeslot, so all systems are go.

The drama formerly known as Undercover has undergone a title and casting change, but we’re full-steam ahead for its premiere in two weeks. The new Monday-Tuesday drama on cable network JTBC is now called Heartless City, and though the cast isn’t a huge draw for me, the teasers are beautiful and mysterious, and effectively made me stop to check out what this drama’s about.

How ’bout some new stills from Dating Agency: Cyrano, the upcoming rom-com from tvN? We’ve seen posters and teaser videos, but the drama just released its first stills today, featuring its lead star Lee Jong-hyuk as the gruff boss of the theater troupe–turned–dating agency, which stages encounters designed to put its lovelorn clientele in the best possible light before the objects of their affection.

Since Lee Jong-hyuk follows Uhm Tae-woong’s character from the movie, and like him this character will be sharp, decisive, and cynical… until he meets his romantic match, perhaps? I ask that as a question because there appears to be no Lee Min-jung character in this drama; Sooyoung will be playing the lead, but her character seems rather different from the ladies of the film.

MBC has a new drama in the works, and it’s a good news/good news/bad news kind of situation. Mathwise, that works out favorably, no? First, in the good column: Ha Ji-won (The King 2 Hearts, Secret Garden) is headlining as the leading lady. Score one point for Show. The drama will be a Goryeo-era sageuk about Yuan Empress Ki, called Hwatu. As in the card game? What a weird thing to call your drama. I saw the title and thought this was going to be the Tazza remake, but apparently it has nothing to do with that. (While hwatu means “flower” and “fighting,” they’re using the name of the card game as their working title.)
