Coffee Prince Song List
This list contains songs NOT found on the official soundtrack, since you can always buy the official soundtrack from Yesasia.com (that’s the first OST; here’s the second OST). This list is for people who love the songs not readily available on the OST. (I know you can download the soundtrack, but I’m leaving those selections (mostly) off my list.)
TO DOWNLOAD:
Most (if not all) songs are in mp3 format. Many are batched in RAR files. RAR is an archiving format similar to ZIP. (The reason I used RAR is because it preserves the Korean language encoding, while ZIP does not.) If you don’t have a program that can unpack RAR files, Download WinRAR here for PC users, StuffIt Expander for Mac users. The programs are free and easy to use.

Wow awesome. I’m thinking of the songs the characters themselves sung? Like Mr Hong on the guitar in the apple orchard in ep5, and when Han Gyul and Eun Chan just made up and they were singing before they hit the fountains in ep7, before the texas song starts playing in the background.

kyutpinay2o, that song is 바다여행 (최한성 Ver.) and it’s on the OST. The official soundtrack actually has two versions of that song, one by the original artist, and one sung by the actor who plays Han Sung. I’m mostly using this page for songs you cannot find on the OST, since you can DOWNLOAD

Acey, that’s 바람에 살며시 앉다 (바다여행 Piano Ver.오수경). It’s the instrumental version of 바다여행 (Ocean Voyage), which is the song that Han Sung sang to Yu Ju. All three versions of the song (original, Han Sung singing, instrumental) are on the official soundtrack.

katerina021, you should be able to download by either clicking the link directly, or right-clicking and “save as.” Hoju, I believe that song in Ep 11 is by 얼른아이 (Adult Child). I don’t have the song, but I’ve updated the list to include the title. Sylvia, the chestnut scene song is “May” by Belle Epoque (it was used — and is posted — in an earlier episode, which is why I haven’t posted it in the Ep 12 list). 1st Coffee Prince(KOR), thanks! I’m not generally including songs from the official soundtrack on this list (since it’s the “unofficial” soundtrack) but thanks for the links.

Javabeans, there seems to be more songs/episode every time I go check for Lapampam’s listing of episode music! Such craziness! Whoever handles the music for CP must be super serious about h/her job.
Here’s a song identified in Episode 01 that’s not listed yet – it’s Honey by Moby (I can’t find the full mp3, but you can listen to a clip here: http://moby.org/audio/clips/Honey-44.mp3). It’s played at the club that HG went to (right after the bubble-wrap scene between HS and EC).
It’s interesting that each character’s ringtone’s been identified (except HG’s):
Eun Chan’s: KIROTS – “청소슝슝” (cleaning)
Yu Ju’s: FREE TEMPO – “Sky High”
Han Seong’s: LUCID FALL – “보이나요” (Does it show?)

ying, yes, I’m sorry I had to remove the links to the individual mp3s. I kept them up as long as I could, but they literally killed my web server and I had to remove them. Are you blocked from using megaupload/sendspace, or are you just unsure how to use them? Perhaps when CP is over some kind soul will upload the unofficial soundtrack to bittorrent or Clubbox to help people who can’t use the other services.

Obviously, I haven’t seen the dramabeans server logs, but I don’t really need to because I know what happens behind the scenes on a lot of other servers. People who don’t have that experience may understandably think that the recent performance problems are at least partly down to the huge numbers of people reading and commenting. But they aren’t. The package under which this site is now running could cope with many times the number of current visitors without missing a beat, if all that those visitors were doing was reading posts and or/adding comments. And graphics of the modest dimensions used here aren’t a problem either. It’s truly is the mp3s that are the performance killer.
I appreciate the trouble you go to to hunt down these tracks and the care with which you weave them into your writing. And I admire your persistence in trying to keep the live links for as long as you did. But every mp3 downloaded or streamed from this site puts the same load on the server resources as several dozen (even in the worst case, several hundred) users who are simply reading and posting stuff. And the problem is made worse by people using “download managers”, many of which are truly evil pieces of software designed to get the download come what may, regardless of the effect on the server or on other users. They work by opening multiple simultaneous connections and retry relentlessly: the more pressure the server is already under, the harder they hammer it., until nobody can get anything. And then there are the mindless idiots who hotlink…
Re problems with megaupload especially (though it applies to some other sites too). There are tutorials on Soompi and elsewhere that will help, but the main problem seems to arise when people are behind a proxy server which channels web requests from large numbers of users. The download site sees all these requests coming in from the same source and thinks they are from the same user. That’s why you can be told you’ve exceeded your download limit even before you’ve downloaded anything. And waiting five minutes or five hours, or however long you may be told to wait, doesn’t help. At one time, most proxies were located in colleges and big corporations, so home users didn’t hit this obstacle. But nowadays many commercial ISPs place “transparent” proxies between users and the Web. And some countries, notably China and several Arab states, put all their citizens behind a bank of proxies so that their Web transactions can be monitored and controlled. Megaupload tries to detect this problem and offer a way around it, but it doesn’t work in all cases. The only sure way round is to sign up to one of the pay packages: that provides a user-specific ID, escaping the proxy trap. But of course that costs money, and only works for that one site. Failing that, the only thing to do is try another site: that’s why offering links to more than one site for each item wherever possible, as you do, is a great help. Since different sites use different methods for trying to limit users and “encourage” them to buy a paid-for package, it’s often possible to get things from one site that other sites deny a particular user.

It came up several times in the drama, but I only remember one scene specifically – in Ep 9 after the beach, when Han Gyul and Eun Chan fight at the cafe and then Han Gyul drives away. Its an instrumental song, and starts out with piano playing the melody and then the guitar takes over. I would reeeally appreciate it if anybody knows it.

Can I just chip in with a bit of nerdery? I got these particular songs before they needed to be delivered in archives, so I can’t say whether this applies to them specifically. But it you are into getting Korean (or Chinese and Japanese) material inside archives, it may be worth knowing for other occasions.
When operating under a US-English or European (ISO-8859-N) system locale (even if the user locale is KR, CN or JP) WinZip can have trouble writing some filenames containing Hangul, Kana or Chinese characters to some disk areas, especially on some USB attached drives. The symptom is that either the archive doesn’t unpack at all or that some songs are missing. WinRar is slightly better at this (it handles zip archives as well as its native rar format, it will usually substitute dashes or question marks for characters in file names the filesystem refuses to accept). WinRar is however, nagware: free to download but it does repeatedly request, though not demand, payment after a trial period. So I suggest you might consider 7-zip, http://www.7-zip.org/ which is free, handles zip, rar and its own format and doesn’t have the CJK locale problem that WinZip sometimes shows.

WANTED, that song is “Polly” by The Melody, and it’s on the OST. kw02, ooh, what a creepy reference to catch. Tesshan the song in ep. 12 at the airport is “Goodbye” by The Melody.
Lily (#116), unfortunately I don’t know where to get that song from Flowers for My Life. I don’t know if they never intended to put out an OST or if it was due to such low ratings that they decided it wasn’t worth it, but there are a few songs that seem to have been made specifically for the series that weren’t released officially. It’s a shame.
Does anyone know who was (were) the musical director(s) for Coffee Prince? I think Tearliner helped with the arrangements on the OST…
The band Tearliner is actually credited as being the musical directors for Coffee Prince. I know they’d contributed a lot to the background score, and I don’t know the extent of their involvement outside of the tracks they provided, but perhaps they were also responsible for the rest of the musical selection as well. That makes sense, as many of the other artists featured are label-mates from the label Tearliner is with, indie music company Pastel.

Sweet! I was wondering what songs were which. Anyways I have a request sort of. I don’t think this piece was listed above, but I forgot which episode it is in, but I’m positive its from 14-17. (I know that’s a lot of episodes and songs in between) but there was this one classical piece where I believe it played in a background of either a Restaurant. I am one of many non Korean who have problem with the English subtitles, so any synopsis ( and very good one, too) from you guys is greatly appreciated. Thank you also for those hard to find songs. One example is when Eun Chan and Han Gyul are in the hospital (In Episode 5) or when they are in the toy room (Episode 6) and Han Gyul gently touches Eun Chan’s face. There’s one song you haven’t listed (and which I was unable to find mysefl). It’s the very last song in episode 12. It’s a guitar piece with a male singer. It’s right where Eun-Chan is shouting “I love you” over and over again into her cell phone. I can’t make it out.

I really need to stop watching Coffee Prince – Ive been obsessed for months!! Does anyone know the song that plays in episode 12 when Eun Chan and Han Gyul go out to make the deliveries and Han Gyul is playing around telling strangers Eun Chan is a girl and then they run up the stairs? Its plays for a pretty short time (like 30 seconds maybe) but its so pretty. Guess what, it was a great and welcomed accident! im a big coffee prince fan and when i saw you have a list posted of the soundtrack, WHOA!!!!! JUST AMAZING! I also love your recap of each episode and the pictures wow it just brings back my fave scenes from the show! Im from Manila so the coffee prince fever is just catching up. This is the first koreanovela ive ever watched out of all the gazillion koreanovelas shown here in Manila. Yep we call them “koreanovelas” here. I just truly love it.. I don’t know if anyone mentioned this already, but really, 11 pages of comments is so much to read through thoroughly I didn’t completely check. But I figure it doesn’t hurt to say it anyways, in case anyone cares.
In episode 1 where Han Seung is in the studio or whatever (just before he’s called out to talk to Yu Ju) the band playing (recording, I mean, I guess) is Tearliner (they start playing a song and then stop to say their tempo is too slow or something? before starting to play again) and they’re playing Gazer Razer. The Studio Live Version from that episode is on their myspace ( /tearliner1).
In episode 4 when Han Seung serenades Yu Ju over the phone, he’s singing “Ocean Voyage/Voyage to the Sea” by Tearliner in his incredibly deep voice. The band’s version (also on their myspace) sounds different to me, but that’s just the difference in Liner & Han Seung’s voices.
Also, anyone know where I can find Love Box by The Melody? I don’t think it was in the batch file for episode 8.

I want to add a song that I didn’t see on your list. Yu Ju’s ringtone in one episode is the song “Michelle” by The Beatles. I think it’s before the 12th as you pointed out another ringtone and if I remember well it’s when she is sick

Omg! I LOVE you dramabeans! You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting this song and not knowing who sings it: LEE SEON KYUN – “바다여행” (Ocean Travel). *Sigh* When I listen to this song, my heart swells up and explodes to an uncountabillion pieces. It’s one of those songs I’m going to listen to obsessively and repeatedly. In this case, simply b/c it evokes the most profound of all feelings, yet full of contradictions.

I think Michelle by The Beatles was actually waffle boy’s ringtone (lol, was his name Sungki or something like that?)
And to be exact, I believe it was episode 7. . .
lol, clearly I choose to remember the most random things EVER (and if I remember correctly, that ringtone rang for like less than a second! haha)… but I just remember it was a big deal when this drama was airing because all my friends were commenting how he “stole” my ringtone (lol, Michelle has been my ringtone for like the past 3 years!).

I’m a recent big fan of Coffee Prince. It’s totally unknown here in France, but I think it would really deserve a French version.
Really nice storytelling, very cool soundtrack, amazing lead actors, etc, etc.
I will just add a single song to your list that has not been discovered yet (I think).
- Title : “Un homme et une femme” (OST of an old French movie of the same name)
- When : Middle of ep.3, outside of the coffee, manager Hong whistles it after Han Gyul said that he totally trusts Eun Chan and wants “him” to be his first employee.

“Un homme et une femme” just means “a man and a woman”.
It’s a really nice twinkle because it makes you understand that Hong already think those two will be engaged in a romantic relationship (just take attention to his gaze between the two, then he nods, like he was meaning : gotcha! and starts to whistle…).
What is the name of the song in Ep. 16 where Eun Sae tells Hwang Min Yeop that he could follow her and he then picks her up and runs around? Thank You In advance.

When I first heard it on Coffee Prince, I wasn’t too fond of it, but now I can’t seem to forget about it. It just makes me feel totally relaxed.
