OMO!!! 😍 K&K Boys (Xiao Bai, Demo, Grunt, 97, and One) and Li Xian reunited at the drama awards. The drama that I went crazy over the summer bagged the Drama of the Year at iQiYi Awards. Congrats #GoGoSquid

And they (Demo, One, 97 and Grunt) performed the opening credit too “Nameless Person” which is one of my favourites! So much nostalgia hearing this song again. I hardly recognize the boys, ngl. I think I recognize Demo, he was in the far left of the video and the first one to sing?

Well.. Hellooo, Li Xian K&K boys !
I didn’t recognize the boys either.

    1
    1

After a few rewatches, I think I can identify who is who. On the far left video is demo, next to him is 97, then grunt then far right is one. Grunt looks completely different, probably cuz no manliner!

On some angles demo looks like Xiao Bai! I dunno. My eyes lol

Li Xian blends in well with the boys. It looks like they’re all same age huehhehe

🤣🤣🤣🤣 the mysteries behind emojis. It’s been a great wonder discoveries these with you all 😆. Tomorrow we def need to screenshot the emojis we see on db too.

Since I finished this like two weeks ago, I could still recognise them but Grunt looks a little bit different. Also, I didn’t know they sang that song!

    1
    1

Yep Grunt looks different the most probably because he doesn’t have the glasses and manliner!

And oh neener, the boys didn’t officially sing the song, they just performed it at the awards show. This was the singer https://youtu.be/9xbviMFC3PM

Seeing them perform their ost makes me wish that Xu Kai and Bai Lu had performed Dreaming 💔 what a dream come true if that ever happened. 😭

      1
      2

Lol I can’t remember the boys either, I do remember how they looked like in the show but idk if it’s the makeup or what but they all seem different. Still happy for my first live watched c drama to get some recognition.

Yeah, Could be make up and they’re all suited up too! Go Go Squid took China by storm over the summer, so I expect it will bag more awards in the upcoming award shows.

My gorgeous bbs! 😍💘 #XuKai #BaiLu

Hope to see them bag more awards! It had been an amazing year for them. Wish them more projects that showcase their talents in the future too!

Pretty Lulu! 😍😍

I’m no longer used to seeing her in modern attire or with long hair… She’s still Liangchen (XiangXiang in disguise) in my mind.

    6
    2

Same. I couldn’t recognize her for a minute. She is very pretty.

      4
      1

Huehhehe!! How to travel back to 1910s and meet these bbs! 😩

I have read somewhere that she didn’t like going out with a short hair! The squad talked about how she would always wear her wig whenever she met them… so throwback to that time she did actually go out sporting a short hair and she rocked it!

      😆

      7
      1

She is so pretty! 😍😍😍 So glad they are getting awards! ❤

    2
    1

Indeed! And it’s so nice that she doesn’t have to wear wig anymore cuz her hair has grown out…. just extensions. Hope we get to see them together again at award shows.

      4
      2

I liked her short hair so I’ll miss it 😅 I also hope to see them again at the award shows, they look so good together! 😍

        0

So she actually cut her hair for the show? Respect. I know they trained hard and she even injured herself so she deserves all the awards. The whole squad gets a medal in my books! 🥇

        Congratulations

        4
        1

Yes, she did!!! And they shared a video of how her Liangchen looks came about. She was dreading for it to happen, poor Bai Lu. Xu Kai had his hair cut too the same day as hers. http://www.dramabeans.com/members/13infamyss/activity/926089/#acomment-926091

She sacrificed so much for this drama; it really took a toll on her, so I’m glad she’s getting recognition for the effort she put in. In one of the BTS I saw, when they finished filming she cried hard in her van as she said goodbye to Xiang Xiang. I wish I had saved the link of that video. I can’t find it now to share -__-

🤣🤣 worry not, azzo. I did not understand what they were saying as well!! 🤣🤣🤣 but I still watched their thank you speech with pride! Like yeah my bbs got awards! FYI- There’s just sooooo many C-Dramas and actors come out every year. Bai Lu and Xu Kai had a total of 3 dramas they led this year (2 they worked together) as example. And some dramas don’t even see the light- ie. Xu Kai and Bai Lu’s first ever drama filmed still doesn’t have a green light to air 💔 and it’s been 3 years now.

Ohh that’s sad. I felt so happy seeing them win as that meant that AMA was recognized since I don’t hear much buzz except for DB. AMA, I think is fairly newly shot compared to The Legends where both of them look younger.

        4
        1

Correct wapz. The Legends is more popular than Arsenal. Most had seen The Legends first and then checked out Arsenal after because they loved their pairing.

Accdg to wiki, The Legends started filming October 2017 finished February 2018. Then they immediately filmed AMA late March 2018 finished August 2018.

Ughh I love them but I need to get over them. I keep spending all my time rewatching bits again and again. They are supposedly my age or near and they’re winning awards while I’m jobless 😂

    3
    1

Huehehehehe. I’m going to be busy with work next week – they know I’m going on holiday soon so they swamp me with work now 😅… so AMA obsession has to take a step back while I finish these last minute work and watch me just go back again down the rabbit Gu Yanzhen hole once my holiday begins! 😖😖😖

Hope you’ll land a job that you like soon! Treasure these free time that you have now. It’s tough to juggle fangirling and work – being adult is hard!

Why are all these women so thin? I can’t look beyond that.

I did like her with that short hair

    6
    1

Am not trying to body shame or anything. But I worry there is too much pressure on these actors to maintain these thin body types. Seen so many drama actors who look almost 2D to me. Even men are trying to lose weight. Not just women.

      4
      2

I get you, on one hand, we shouldn’t talk about someone’s body type, but in this case not talking is normalizing this unhealthy standard that are pushed on these celebs by others.

        4
        0

blue, yeah, it’s the industry they are in that forces them to be in that ideal body whatever that is. I have mentioned before that Xu Kai had been criticized by his even own fans (most likely his C-fans) for gaining weight this year! His recent pictures show that he’s lost the weight. And maybe he’s still losing more.

So I don’t really blame them for wanting to fit what the industry wanted them to be. I don’t see body shame comments often happening in cdramas cuz I don’t search up actors. But K-Entertainment is very toxic at that. One of my Super Junior boys has been body shamed for being fat for 14 years now and this is still ongoing.

        5
        1

And at this “fat” phase he weighed around 75 kg, at 185 cm!!!

          1
          4

Exactly! And the fact that Xu Kai’s staff even asked him to stop appearing in public until he lost weight because he’s ruining his Gu Yanzhen image that fans had of him.. I`m like… excuse me???

            2
            0

Excuse me but what??? 😱😱😱 That’s just cruel! This is making me so angry 🤬

            2
            0

@purpleink93 yes ;( it’s a toxic industry. They are paid to meet expectations of the “perfect look”. Having talents and skills are secondary, unfortunately.

It made me remember IU goes on extreme diet when she goes on comeback. There are several videos on YT who tried adapting her diet foods. Very unhealthy diet. I’m like…. I’m pretty sure she’s already skinny enough, but in the eyes of everyone else, she’s not. So she starves herself more 💔

            2
            0

@13infamyss It’s really twisted, their talent and skills should be the first priority.

I remember reading about it, it’s just sick. She is already thin, I don’t want her or any others to starve 😭Really wish the intrustry will change soon and realise how unhealthy this is!

I’ve been following her #ArsenalMilitaryAcademy spazz for a couple of days now. Getting a kick out of how she pretty much took the words of my mouth. Seeing this tweet made me decided her spazz is definitely worth sharing! I love her obsession with Arsenal. It’s amazing how I’m picking up small details I didn’t see before as well. Such as Xiang Xiang’s “flirt fight” with Yanzhen 😂😂 From now on, imma call their fights – flirt flights. It couldn’t be more obvious ngl. Thank you, Arsenal fan for your love for this series 💘 I hope you enjoyed it to the end.

Hahaha, she fell off her bed. I think I was jumping up and down on my bed and screaming (internally, it was late at night): “you’re confessing that to the wrong person!”

But of course, he knows already 😉

    1
    1

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love how we react differently to this scene. I actually had tears when she confessed. Even if it was to the wrong person. I couldn’t believe it had finally happen!

Also omg such a stalker, I hope she doesn’t mind me sharing her spazz but she’s just sooo hilarious spazzing. Like been there done that kind of AMA fit!

        HAHAHAA I wonder if that’s 7:15am.

*cough* Shen Tingbai is not a father figure! I’ll fight her with my sock puppet.
Other than that I agree 😂😂😂😂

        1

🤣🤣🤣 that was indeed 7:15am. I took a screenshot of it a couple of days ago cuz it was so funny, the make out part lol. Oh boy, I do embarrassing things now like Gu Yanzhen!

Yeah I wasn’t exactly sure who she was talking about there with Manting. I thought she was referring to Guo!

          1
          2

My Tingbai fangirl heart instinctively screamed against the notion of him as protective father figure, but you’re right… she could be talking about Sergeant Guo.

I guess I’ll have to rewatch the sock puppets episode to clarify what she’s talking about. 😅

            1
            0

Just checked!! Episode 28. It was indeed Guo. The scene prior to puppet was Guo picking up Manting from her work. It was his first time seeing her there performing. 😬

Favourite Yanzhen-Xiang Xiang moments in Episode 41 #ArsenalMilitaryAcademy

^A cute exchange. When she heard him come out of the room, she turned her head to look at him. His eyebrows flash and smiled at her. She smiled back then went on to look after the fishes! My cuties.

*Spoilers in the comments below*

**Just snippets of my thoughts. Time won’t let me post essay** 😭

This episode continues from Gu Yanzhen searching every nook and cranny of Beijing to find Xiang Xiang. She was kidnapped and no traces of her could be found.

He is desperate, so lost on what else can he do. He’s slouching in the middle of the street. He is exhausted, but can’t rest, won’t rest, won’t let himself pass out until he finds her.

    2
    0

When he did find her, no words came out. The sight of her safe and sound overwhelmed him; it made him cry.

Whenever Gu Yanzhen is overwhelmed with emotions, he tears up. We’ve seen it first happen when he was frustrated that he couldn’t save the patriotic students, when his heart was broken once again, when he lost Xiang Xiang the first time, and this time too when he found her. I am always at awe seeing these many sides of Gu Yanzhen. Behind his narcissistic, crazy, impulsive, wild self, he is also so raw when his feelings come out.

Crying is the only way your eyes speak when your mouth can’t explain how things made your heart broken or happy

    5
    1

Perfectly worded Famy! As much as I loved this scene, I did chuckle when he collapsed. I know Yanzhen hasn’t slept and probably eaten but boy you weren’t the one who was kidnapped.

      2
      2

I laughed at that too even if it was supposed to be very serious. This is again an example of role reversal. Girl saved herself and girl even saved her boy.

        4
        1

The role reversal here is definitely one of the highlight themes of this drama. Its presence is pretty much felt in the characters’ personality and the situations they are are in.

Xiang Xiang is also not someone who cries a lot; we don’t see her whine and is not very much expressive with words either which typically goes to a male lead role. But that’s how Yanzhen complements her character!

          2
          0

Hueheheheh. He was always the one who came out most distressed in these situations! Both here and in episode 40, while her presence assured him she was fine and in one piece, he def looked like he was the one stabbed and kidnapped. LOL. But then again, with Yanzhen, they might as well just do that than have him go through these stress.

        0
        0

Let me take a moment here to appreciate how Xiang Xiang has come along way in her journey in getting out of her depression from her brother’s death. She got into the military to fulfill her brother’s dream, went through the same tough harsh training with the rest of the men, worked hard everyday to become the best version of herself. She can perfectly save her own skin just fine. Yanzhen didn’t even need to worry!

    4

I like this scene. His jokes make her smile now. And look at how sweet the smile she gives him. It’s so endearing.

    5
    0

He gently takes her hand, assures her that he will be with her no matter what. She smiles again in agreement.

I can’t help but compare how calm and peaceful this moment is than what she had with Junshan when she walked him out. It was the same discussion – that she needed to come back to the academy, that someone would be with her when she travelled back, but he used force once again to make her say yes. He wouldn’t let her speak; there were no buts. His decision for her was final.

    3
    1

I loved this scene. She calmed down so much after realizing her love for him and she is letting him be. She is now enjoying his love for her.
And this hand holding was so soft and so caring.
And you are absolutely right about Junshan. He was worried but he approached it very differently. Our girl has grown up so much and learnt to be independent and it will only work with someone who treats her as equal. May be if she had met him before joining the school she might have been impressed by him, but not anymore.

      2
      1

So agree on all you said blue! In this scene too, you can feel how much they are on equal footing. They discuss plan together rather than Yanzhen impose his idea on her on what she should do now. He asks her questions and provides her with his options – do you have anywhere else you can take your parents to? Or I can help. She tells him she has other relatives she can ask for help. Yknow simple conversations like this that shows there’s a two way communication between them! I love it.

        2
        0

My most favourite OTP moment ever. Something about this made my heart go “Ooof! They are so beautiful. So precious”. I imagined this was how they were going to spend the rest of their lives together. Very homey. So comfortable.

Happy that we at least got this scene. I wanted MOOOREEEE

      2
      1

Same neener! Same 😭 It was around this time that my thirst for OTP scenes became stronger than ever! I had made it to 41 episodes just fine but I think I had a meltdown seeing this scene and longed for more. That’s probably why this became my most favourite!

        1
        1

And how cute is it that Xiang Xiang flirts with him in front of her parents?

    A typical household conversation:
Mama Xie: Yanzhen, what do you want for dinner?
    Yanzhen: Anything is fine.
Mama Xie: What about Sichuan cuisine?
Xiang Xiang: He doesn’t eat spicy food.

💘💘 My precious. It’s little things like this that this drama gets me

    3
    0

    I like this.

We were deliberately shown that her thoughts are with him. She knows he won’t like Junshan’s request to walk him out. She said yes again knowing he’s not happy about it.

    3
    0

Thankfully, even when sulking, her ‘home’ always waits for her to come back.

And we know how much she likes loves her home.

Many thanks neener!!! Nope, I really had all the words I wanted to write in my head TT_______TT I wanted to elaborate further my most favourite OTP moment. It’s was a brief moment but I had so many emotions going through when I first watched it. And how she casually interrupted Yanzhen and Mama Xie’s conversation to tell her mom that he doesn’t eat spicy food – like auugh… my heart! Anyways thinking about it, I think I wrote my feels about those scenes in one of my early posts http://www.dramabeans.com/members/13infamyss/activity/927081/#acomment-927695 so I guess this one should tell more how much I am in love with those two brief scenes! ^__^

      1

Noooo, many thanks to you too! I don’t have any place to talk about this yet as my rl friend is not yet finished, so I’m thankful for all the posts!

Whenever Xiang Xiang casually says something about how much she knows Yanzhen, my heart explodes! You’re not alone in loving those scenes! I love little moments like that.

        1
        1

Lucky you! At least you have somebody you can talk to irl about this drama. Did you introduce Arsenal to them? Huehehe. Anyways I only have you beanies to spazz with so thanks a lot for spazzing with me!

Huehehhehe. She knows her man too well. She knows how picky he is with food. Going back to that beautiful episode 16 where she made him eat food he didn’t like and laughed to herself! My heart💘

          1
          4

I just found out last night that she was watching. You should have seen me in the coffee shop hihihihi I jumped, squeed and hugged her! >.< She's still at the episode 12 so it'll take a while for her. I did offer to watch with her.

I am amazed at you Famy for remembering episodes SO WELL! I remember the scenes but I can't remember episode numbers

            1
            0

😂😂😂😂😂 @neener I have rewatched these scenes with you guys many times. Beanies started at different times so whenever a scene is brought up I watched the episodes that you guys were on over and over again 😂 I definitely have these episode numbers embedded on my brain already. I’m saying this is actually good so I know which episode to jump to right away. I used to have to play each episode to get to the scene I want to rewatch. 😅 geeez My reasoning totally sounds an unhealthy obsession.

Awwwww ep 12 is definitely the perfect moment to rewatch and point out what she may miss at that time. I remember how these episodes just flew by and around that time I didn’t really remember the names of the other characters!

            1
            0

Nah, not unhealthy, we love the show that much which sounds unhealthy >.< who cares? HAHAHA

In that case, if I suddenly want to rewatch a scene, I'll be asking you which one!

            1

I loved their scenes. I wish the whole show was just about them because I’m not feeling the patriotic segments. I mean the whole action part is good but doesn’t give you the same feelings as maybe Chicago Typewriter even. Though they are based on two different things, this show’s charm lied in the main couple, we should’ve seen more of them. Now I am actually feeling the couple. Isn’t there a rumor of them being togther in real life too?

    3
    2

The patriotic part was so disconnected. Somehow it wasn’t organic. Also, I didn’t bother reading up the history. So I didn’t get the significance of many events.
The OTP is the reason I watched the show. And of course our squad.

      2
      2

Same blue. And I was so disappointed with what they did with Xianrong. I enjoyed seeing her be conflicted with her becoming a Japanese national, turning on her original background vs her feelings for Junshan and her brother figure. I loved seeing her shaken up in those times they were involved. Alas, the show carried on destroying her supposed layered character with over the top propaganda to show who’s the real baddie here.

        3
        0

Yes the OTP and squad had the best moments. I’d say all the episodes with the squad were way better than political intrigue. The first students protest in Beijing and its results was fine, after that one thing happened after another and most of the time I’ll think if it was even needed. But well now I’m done with the show and still loved it. The last few episodes did kick in the right emotions but yeah the charm still lied in Gu Yanzhen teasing Xie Xiang so I’ll go back to watch the earlier episodes to reminisce that.

        2
        1

RE: Gu Yanzhen teasing Xie Xiang –

There was this scene that somebody mentioned on twitter that I thought was funny. It was I think ep 37 where Xiang Xiang and Xiaojun rain into Yanzhen just outside the campus. The tweet was like she was ready to fight flirt with him again but he was in the bad mood (lol he was coming from Manting’s place and her constant pressure on him to like her back), so he just ignored him after her snotty response that it was not any of his business when he asked where she was going. Looooool I went back to that scene and she really did look confused after he walked past her! When he was coming out of his car, she cleared her throat ready to “flirt fight” with him lmaoooo. These two.

          1
          0

This drama came out at a wrong time unfortunately – the Chinese government had imposed stricter rules on what production companies can show given its 70 year anniversary this year. I had found two flashbacks that OTP reminisced that I did not see happen in the show at all, There were at least three kiss scenes that were cut; I saw two and one of them was just a kiss on Xiang Xiang’s hair and even that did not pass censorship! The production team admitted that OTP scenes were trimmed down significantly to pass censorship. It’s sad that this drama that I loved so much could have shown more, could have produced a better quality to satisfy its audience’s thirst…. but here we are….. left with wondering what could have been….

I was very iffy starting this show. I read a whole lot about this series before continuing on because OTP romance wasn’t the highlight of the show. Romance is my only reason to watch drama! But I still took the risk, lowered my expectation and found myself falling in love with this show despite its imperfection. My binge watch slowed down during the patriotic and propaganda scenes, but I didn’t want to skip anything. So I’d rather take a breather, don’t watch it for days then come back to it when I’m in the mood to take in the patriotism they throw at me. Overall, this drama catered to how China wants their patriotism to be portrayed. It still looks cheesy and absurd to me no matter what. But I came out loving all the characters in this show, not just my OTP-bbs, and I am left having a great respect for all the actors and the characters that they made come alive.

Xu Kai and Bai Lu have been in 4 dramas together. Two of them they were leads and they have another one coming out either next year or 2021! So there’s lots of rumours going around them for sure!

      0

Oh that explains a lot. Because the only episode with OTP moments is ep 41 and nothing else really. But as I mentioned earlier, the charm of this was in Gu Yanzhen teasing Xie Xiang so maybe I’ll just keep that in my memory 😜 But otherwise I do get that the show is about Arsenal Military Academy in itself and that’s why it ended there rather bringing the focus on the couple. By the end, I did appreciate the emotional kick, yes it could’ve been less but they probably ecisted because of the reasons you gave.

Yes I heard this is their 5th drama together. This is going to be my reel to real ship unless I ship Xu Kai with myself 😂

Episode 46 is one of my favourites too! Not sure if you’re on there yet? It’s one of the cutest. It was around this time that I miss his cray. I mean he still jokes around but he’s definitely tone down.

I noticed in episode 46 – He used to be very cheesy yknow “I’m full watching you eat” kind of guy (ep 33). In episode 46 he only tells her “you eat. I’ll watch.” 😭 although I’m pretty sure he really meant that cheesy line. This simpleton!

Is it the reunion? After she is rescued by him from jail? I’ve completed the show. But if it’s about the reunion scene than I loved it. And that’s exactly what I missed in the show, there were very few of these scenes.

Yep I was taking about that! Overall we really had very little OTP scenes and it’s so exciting to learn new things about them that beanies have discovered such as Xiang Xiang had actually picked up one of Yanzhen’s habits overtime. Their scenes were all precious; they built up. Their love story didn’t start from love at first sight or physical attraction. It stemmed from being strangers to camaraderie to close friends to finding each other as their better halves. Even with little screentime, we’ve seen this progress happen. It’s beautiful.

I loved the vibe of this scene – it’s homey and comfortable. Gu Yanzhen doesn’t even look out of place. My OTP heart was very, very satisfied in this moment.

An aside, but OP, I love your enthusiasm about this series and the romance! I got into the series earlier this week and I’m now around the 42nd episode with no one to gush over the OTP with hahaha thank you for posting all the gifs!! I love all the fluff GYZ and XX bring, but also the fact that they have a pretty healthy relationship, which was already highlighted in one of your earlier posts 😀

Oh no so sorry to hear that you had no one to spazz with on this series Nina!! 💔 I was on the same boat as you when I first watched this which was……. early October…. almost two months ago 🤦‍♀️. I know I sound like I’m seeing all this for the first time! 🤣

I mean a couple of beanies have seen it with me but our conversations were so limited because we were the only ones who understood what was going on! When I finished the series, that’s when beanies started to pick it up and I rewatched the scenes with them. They all started at different times so I rewatched and rewatched and rewatched to my fangirl heart’s content! 😆😆

But worry not Nina, feel free to spazz on DB and we’ll be with you on your journey to Arsenal’s last arc. And should the need to rewatch some scenes kick in, feel free to share your favourite moments with us, and we’ll definitely spazz with you….! 💘

Episode 41 fed my soul. It was exactly how I imagined Xiang Xiang and Yanzhen’s life would be like if they didn’t live in a turbulent time.

Thank you beanies for the amazing Gu Yanzhen love today! Here’s my contribution post #ArsenalMilitaryAcademy

Hottie Yanzhen having a fit seeing injustice happening before him!

This is also me right now. Having a rage attack because I’m so tied up and time won’t let me write an essay about Episode 41. 😭 Time, I hate you. Gu Yanzhen having a fit, I love.

I think he is a better partner with Manting.

I am just now on the Xiang train with him or other dude. Maybe I need a few more eps under my belt to truly understand why they find her so interesting and attractive.

    2
    3

Where are you at right now? Sorry if the below are spoilers!!

To me Manting and Yanzhen are too alike. They’re too crazy together. They’re gonna drive each other up the wall if they were to spend the rest of their lives together. On episode 10, when she pulled a prank on him, I knew they would be a great team, but not so much romantically. When she talks, she sounds like his echo, vice versa him to her.

He fell for Xiang Xiang because his curiosity piqued the moment he figured out who she truly is. Wanting to know more and protect this woman who braved herself to get into the military academy and disguised as a man. Xiang Xiang is very reserved, so there’s not much to see because she follows rules and mostly enjoys to be in the background. She’s not spontaneous. But her charm lies in working hard, trying to be on equal footing with all the men in her life everyday.

Oh, you’re watching it?! The characters develop nicely so you just need to give them time. I like that no relationship is fated to be in this drama; they make their own choices.

It’s not mainly about romance though so don’t expect lots of lovey-dovey scenes.

      2
      1

Good. But I am already getting frustrated because Xiang is kind of a idiot and has absolutely no chill. Everything is like a Benny Hill reaction instead of just having chill. For someone trying to blend into the background, she sure as hell is bringing a lot of attention.

        2
        1

Yes, at first I kept rolling my eyes because she and her friend are not very clever about hiding her identity. It’s kind of miraculous nobody else found out. Her character arc is to eventually become more mature, observant, and independent.

          4
          0

I felt the same. But everyone here is right. In this show we get to like characters slowly. I do get why Xie Xiang is liked but not why should she like Gu Yanzhen. Maybe because I have strong SLS and I did think that Manting and Yanzhen make a really good combination, with more episodes I have realized that probably they aren’t the best to be a couple because they are well too same.

It’s the same argument. I find Junshan and Xiang Xiang too alike. In the later episodes, Tingbai emphasized how having opposite personalities are not such a bad thing. And I believe that’s what the show highlights.

        1
        1

I am not deep enough into the series to get a read on Junshan. I mean, from what I have seen he is just there. Once I watch more I can get a read on him. At least now I know his name instead of calling him ‘that dude’. 🙂

Why Episode 38 is one of my favourites… #ArsenalMilitaryAcademy

^And no, that still image isn’t from Episode 38, lol, but I like that image, so…

*Spoiler in the comments below*

51

It all started with this scene and this episode continued being one of the most heartwarming!

Xiang Xiang was dragging her feet back to the academy after the long night she had had with Junshan. Her worry that he found out the truth about her identity loomed over her.

Yanzhen waited for her return and his face lit up at the sight of her on the campus ground. He tells her that he’s got food upstairs for her. She smiles and runs up the stairs.

This scene is great for a couple of reasons:
    1. Junshan witnessed that there is more to Yanzhen and Xiang Xiang’s relationship than fight each other day and night. That there is more to their relationship than yelling and arguing.
    2. We see that Yanzhen and her little room with him at the academy is her home. Her place of comfort. The sight of him telling her he’s got food for her made her feel relaxed and cheered her up

    5
    2

      Well said !

Xiang Xiang didn’t seem too worried that Yangzhen knew her identity. She’s always been comfortable and herself with him.

Once Junshan knew about Xiang Xiang or once he started to pursue her as a girl / as Liangchen’s sister, she changed. She used to be in awe at him and trusted him well. But she is now much more reserved and careful in front of him.

      3
      1

Yes, agree. And I did not like that Junshan made her run around the town – from the academy to the girl’s school back and forth, changing from man to women’s clothes vice versa – just so he could go on dates with her. He knew she wouldn’t say so and he took advantage of her secret.

And then there was Yanzhen, who ran around the campus, did a lot of crazy antics such as shower scene and making a scene with Li Wenzhong, just to make sure her secret was safe.

Junshan’s love for her made her situation uncomfortable. I’m disappointed that he turned out to be this way when he fell in love, but again, it sets as a reminder that Yanzhen was the better man for Xiang Xiang.

        2
        1

Aw, her face lit up when he called to her. I think I know why you used a still from another episode… Yanzhen waiting for her at the door like a married couple. He’s her home. For his part he looks totally at home with her family in Beijing.

          1
          1

Huehhehe yep! Yanzhen waiting for Xiang Xiang to come “home” is a favourite of mine. You see him complain whenever she leaves him, but he doesn’t follow her around like a stalker to see where she’s going and what she’s up to. He is always waiting for her to come back.

The scene at the Xie residence was very heartwarming. It was brief but I loved every bit of it. I imagined, in an alternate universe, it was not a turbulent time and people were living pretty much a mundane life. And then there is Xiang Xiang and Yanzhen having some quality time together with her family. It’s very domestic. I like my own alternate universe.

I also liked that bit from episode 41 where Mama Xie asked what Yanzhen would like to have for lunch. He answers anything will do. She says they’ll have Sichuan cuisine then. Xiang Xiang interrupts her and casually answers on his behalf as she gets the door that he doesn’t eat spicy food. Like ooooh my heart 💘 There’s something about how she answers for him because she knows him that moves my heart. It’s little things like this that this drama gets me.

            2
            0

Yup, I never considered Junshan as good pairing with XiangXiang no matter how hot he is 😉 She always looked up to him and he remind her of her brother and that some unhealthy power dynamic in relationship, whereas with Yangzhen they are equals and she has no problem to tell him off or stand her ground.

      4
      1

That scene from Episode 6 where he carried her on his back was a good foreshadowing on how Xiang Xiang saw Junshan. Right from the start, he was a big brother figure to her. I thought about it but she had never once said to she liked Junshan romantically; this was purely based from Yanzhen’s assumption.

When Junshan said he would “court” her, she was the confused about her feelings for him because she didn’t know how to love someone romantically. She never experienced it before. When that is all clear, that’s when she realized it she only saw Junshan like a brother.

And yes 100% on Yanzhen and Xiang Xiang as equals. This is why I enjoy their fights a lot; they look like ordinary couple having normal arguments to me. She’s reserved and mostly keeps everything in to herself (like Junshan!) but when Yanzhen riles her up, she fights with him to no end. We see sides of her that only come out when he’s with her. Their dynamic is great because both can say yes and no to each other comfortably.

Outside this love triangle arc, Junshan is a great man. I love that when he “conceded”, he admitted to Xiang Xiang that she’s more comfortable with Yanzhen than him. And how he knows she would be more honest with Yanzhen than him.

        2
        1

It’s interesting that Junshan’s teasing devil came out once he found out she was a girl, like stripping and asking her to put cream on his back or having her run around town.

However, his joke went on for too long. Yanzhen teased her but soon told her that he knew she was a girl. There are no secrets between them. Junshan kept it a secret so he could go on dates with her. Still. He’s a great guy outside of the love triangle, I agree. Ji Jin agrees too. 😆

P.S.: I’m still mad we got 5 minutes of Junshan ballroom dancing and none for the OTP back in Ep. 16 (I think).

          4
          1

Yep, I didn’t mind how he wanted to “court” her at beginning. I thought it was cute that he wanted to court her like any man would at their time – ie Huang Song brought her food and would to see her whenever he could.

I thought he would court her the right way. What a disappointment that he made things difficult for her because he fell in love.

Yanzhen teased her but soon told her that he knew she was a girl.

It made me remember a scene after they helped out Manting for a night and became servers. The following day Xiang Xiang told Yanzhen since she helped him with Manting’s case, he better keep her secret. He gave an exasperating reply that he had been doing that since the beginning. Ohhhh his efforts that that go unnoticed 💔

And yeeep I’ll be forever bitter about that dance cut. 💔 Somebody left a reply on that dance cut video saying how it was a low key scene – with no audience compared to Yanzhen/Manting and XiangXiang/Junshan dance scenes. It was just them dancing in that room and I swear I heard my heart crack again! 😭

            3
            0

I was appalled by what Junshan ordered her to do with her shirt and I’m glad that Yanzhen called him out for it. He had no right to tell how she should wear her clothes! This is one of my favourite scenes because it sets as a reminder what a great guy Yanzhen is. He had never once told Xiang Xiang what do, what to wear and how to wear her clothes. He lets her be comfortable in her own skin, in her own clothes.

He had never once got too controlling with her either. Even when he asked her to stop seeing Junshan or would put his arm out to stop her from going, she would still leave him and go to Junshan. She had freedom to do what she wanted, and he’s left either whining or sulking about it. Bottom line is he never overstepped his boundaries with her just because he fell in love with her.

    6
    2

      Totally agree !
Yangzhen has been very respectful. Super annoying and a troublemaker. But very caring and respectful.

      4
      1

Yes! He knows when to joke and when the jokes stop. She’s always been a priority to him. In the scene before this, he noticed that something was wrong with her; she was acting weird. He pays attention to her too much; his love hurts me good.

        2

This scene sealed the deal for me. There was going to be no SLS 🙂 not that there was even traces. Lol.

      3
      1

Huehhehe same! I really liked that the show made a clear stance on this love triangle by showing how different these two men are. It’s compare and contrast which is the better man for Xiang Xiang, and of course Yanzhen wins by a landslide.

I’m glad that we get to see what a great man and perfect he is for Xiang Xiang. I mean it’s a given that he is, but when the show makes it a point to tell you how and why he is, it’s such a great watch!

        1

      1
      1

Junshan totally went alpha on her around this time and I was uncomfortable by how he controlled her and took advantage again the fact that he knew she couldn’t say no.

So Xiang Xiang moved out of their dorm, but to my surprised, I couldn’t be more thankful now for Junshan’s alpha-transformation on her!

She is deeply missing him!!!!!!!!!! 😭😭😭 The room felt incredibly big now that she’s got it all to herself. It’s eerily quiet too. She’s missing the chaos in her life.

    5
    1

You know what you said about ‘home’. So powerful. Yanzhen and that room was her home. She had no secrets there and she was completely being herself. And she was happy. Suddenly someone came and moved her and she didn’t even have a say. And Jushan did it ONLY after knowing he is a girl. Until then rumors of her and Gu didn’t bother him enough to make a change. Exactly the kind of guy I would stay away from.

And I am glad it happened because she realized how much she misses Gu and how he is a big a part of her daily life.

      3
      1

Yes!!! I liked she got homesick fast and realized how much she took for granted her moments with him. We tend to not realize what we have until it’s gone; so they say.

I believe that little exchange he saw – Yanzhen waiting for her with food – alarmed him. He was suddenly not comfortable knowing that these two are actually close especially when no one is looking. Oh, what else could they be doing behind closed doors? Now that he’s fallen for her, everything that she’s doing at the academy is wrong! 😣

        2
        1

I hated Junshan for abusing his power like this, and thought that Xie Xiang covered up for him by telling the furious Yanzhen that she had requested changing rooms.

I may be wrong, but is this also a sign that Xie Xiang is falling in love with him but is confused and tired of the love triangle and tries to retreat? Of course absence only makes the heart grow fonder.

          2
          3

but is this also a sign that Xie Xiang is falling in love with him but is confused and tired of the love triangle and tries to retreat

When you say “him” – are you referring to Yanzhen?

I personally think that she said it was her decision to cover up for Junshan. We all know Yanzhen’s temper. He’s definitely not gonna back down from this especially it involves her. But if by “him” you meant Yanzhen and how she wanted to get away from the messy love triangle, I’m thinking about it – you could be right. Huang Song wondered why she wanted to leave their room fast without even waiting for Yanzhen and she didn’t answer. Perhaps she wanted to leave on her own accord too to give her “space” to think things through.

So I went back to a couple of episodes. Episode 38 – Junshan asked her if she disliked him and he wanted to tell her that he wanted to date her but she interrupted him. Xiang Xiang said no to him in a heartbeat saying she’s too young (lol this “too young” Running joke is so funny).
In another scene, Xiaojun, who is trying to psychoanalyze Xiang Xiang says that she thinks she has feelings for Yanzhen and that is why she’s scared of Junshan courting her.

In episode 31, when Yanzhen confessed his love and told her nobody could stop him now, I find it interesting that she didn’t say anything at all nor did she get flustered like what happened when Junshan “confessed” and immediately told no he can’t. She didn’t even pushed him away when he hugged her. She always feels embarrassed of his display of affection in public, but I don’t know she outright rejected him.

            3
            0

Yes, by “him” I mean Yanzhen! Sorry about the confusion. I think she was worried that the guys would fight and probably get her in an even bigger mess, so she covered up for Junshan. I’m saying that although Junshan engineered the room change arbitrarily, it was her decision to go through with it.

I also think she took the chance to have some time alone and think… Girl is receiving a lot of attention from the two guys, plus Huang Song (poor guy with a crush). Personally I’d run away too, for a while at least.

            2
            0

Yes I agree with you then, that in a way she took this Junshan’s forceful chance to step away from the madness that is going on around her.

            1
            0

One of the heartwarming scenes to me was when Xiang Xiang realized her true feelings for Yanzhen and it happened because of that button…

Their separation is slowly making her realize her feelings for him, but I found it fitting that it was this little thing – her button that she nonchalantly told him he could keep as his birthday present – became the last straw to stir her heart. What she said was of little importance, but Yanzhen took it seriously. Everything she said and did, even what if it were nonsense, mattered to him. His love runs deep and she can finally see how serious he is about her.

I thank Junshan for separating them because now she’s realized how much Yanzhen, the man who created chaos in her life, had taken up a space in her life. He is her beautiful disaster. Life is empty without him.

    4
    1

When I saw the button, I had completely forgotten about it (just like Xiang Xiang did).
Then I let out an Awwwww…..😍
Then I thought… 🤔 Geez, Gu Yangzhen… You took that button out of my her jacket! 🙄 *rolling eyes*

      3
      1

Same! I knew it went missing but we didn’t see him keep that button until some episodes later, so it had completely slipped my mind that he took her words seriously and literally plucked that button out of her jacket! LMAO. What a simpleton he is!

But acccckk! Look at how this has come full circle 💘

This hospital scene was such a great contrast from Episode 22. This time around, Xiang Xiang’s eyes were only on him the moment he stepped into the room. She never broke the eye contact. Her attention was fully on him.

All that matters to her at that moment is Yanzhen and how dishevelled and exhausted he looked because he was looking for her. My bb girl is in love 💘 And I love that she is in love with Yanzhen 💘 💘 💘

Yeeeees, it’s so cute how she’s like firing him with questions (have a sit, are you hungry, what do you want to eat, do you want to go home and sleep) and he doesn’t answer because his mind is all a mess.

I loved how she reassured him saying she was ok. She wanted him to calm down.

Did he just blow that candle with his nostrils? 😂 I really want to watch this show but somehow the title makes me think it would be serious? I need a no brainer all cute stuff right now.

      1

🤣🤣 You did not see it wrong, wapz, male lead did indeed blow the candle with his nose. That’s one of his many crazy antics in the drama.

This drama is a mix of everything but mostly centres on its characters and patriotism. I consider this drama an ensemble cast. Everyone in the show has a story. It is definitely a no brainer when the male lead is on, he brings a lot of crack ups. I would suggest to check out the first 6 of the series to get a feel of it as Episode 6 was when I was full on laughing and liked where the story was heading. I didn’t like Episode 1, but you just need to get over that first episode and forget that ever happened. 😉😉

Here is the MV I saw on YT that made me check out this series. I’m sharing with you for motivations https://youtu.be/3SSneyKcsbk

Although of course brain had to start working again so you can rewind the scene. Huehehhe. Tbh my appreciation post is still not finished! For the record, it took me a month to finish this show. I was in between watching shows and this, and as much as I loved this show, I had loved the others too. So definitely take your time watching. 48 episodes is definitely a stretch, if you keep counting down on how many more episodes you need to see, it will be too overwhelming. So just watch whatever you’re able to!

I’m actually thinking about to start it now (I must be crazy😂). It’s a good idea to have it as a in between drama. Thanks!😊 Just a bit scared I’ll love it too much and ending up binging it lol.

            0

Awww Purpleink!!! 😍😍 I am not a fan of period dramas, but I really loved the setting in Arsenal and the costumes and antique props. These fictional characters felt so alive to me, as if I was watching their forgotten era and lifetime.

And oh no!!! Sorry to hear! I wonder what is causing that?! Does that happen with any shows you’re watching?

Your computer got shookt due to Yanzhen exposure 😖😖

            0

I’m a big fan of this time period, it’s just has sush a beautil aesthetic and was a interesting time in history ❤ It was actually when Yanzhen first appered my computer started to make noises 😂(more than it usually does) He is just too handsome to handle❤.

But I suspect it’s the graphics card that is giving up.😓

Ohhh that’s good to know you like this period drama. Happy watching!!! Feel free to let me know where you are at, so if you need somebody to spazz with, I’ll happily spazz with you! 😆 Just FYI though – it’s not heavy on OTP romance, but centres more on its characters and patriotism. Yanzhen though guarantees crackfest and swooonworthy throughout the show for sure. And I certainly loved the military squad. They’re very immature at this moment, but life events and time made them grow up 😉

Hopefully your computer doesn’t fully die on you 😖😖😖

Yay thank you for wanting to be my spazz partner😆😂 if I feel heavly for the OTP then I may spazz about them, bit I’m more for the whole story and mostly now for Yanzhen’s face since it’s his fault I started to watch it😂
Will maybe start episode 3 but at the same time I don’t want my computer to go into the demonic screech again😓 It just calmed down to it’s more normal buzzing lol. Hopeing it will stay alive until next spring (that’s when I can hopefully afford a new card)

On episode 5 now and my computer seems to handle him a bit better now😄(if only I could, he is too beautiful to look at I keep fanning myself) It helped when I switched to an another media player. I’m now hooked on this drama, help! I’m in love with this time period and all the props and the beautiful clothes! And ManTing is so beautiful and I just love her spunk!❤

            0

Yaaaaay!!! I’m sooo glad you’re enjoying the ride so far @purpleink93!!! And worry not, I’ll “help” you spazz more with this series more! 😆😆😆😆

Manting is very beautiful indeed. She is the girl version of Yanzhen, it will be very hard not to fall for her because they’re exactly the same! Lol so if you love Yanzhen and his craziness, it will be automatic love with Manting! 💘.

Episode 5 is great, I love Yanzhen with brushed up hair. He is so beautiful at the party.

I literally ogle every scene he is in. 🤤🤤 I’m glad you are understanding my obsession now with him!😄😄

@13infamyss I’m so happy I started to watch this! Yanzhen and Manting is my fave caracters as of now😍❤

And that party was just so beautiful, wish I was there so I could see them in all their glory❤ I also loved Yanzhen’s brushed up hair it fit him so well! And I really want Mantings dress, it was just so beautiful!

Really liked to see their military training in the forest too, it felt intense in a way I can’t describe. I’m going to watch atleast one episode today!😍

Yes! That’s pretty much how I feel about the series. These characters feel alive to me; I’m watching their lives unfold as if I was there with them.

Ooooh Episode 6 is going to be good. That’s when I totally knew I was going down with this show! lol and then Episode 7 was the turning point of my love. Have fun watching!! 😬

#ArsenalMilitaryAcademy Behind the Scenes

Here is a clip of how the academy was built. It’s surprising to see how they pretty much started from scratch building the campus.

I don’t understand why this was cut and Junshan and Xiang Xiang’s dance wasn’t! She looks definitely more comfortable dancing with Yanzhen. But then again she knew who she was dancing with. But this dance scene is 1000000000000x more romantic than Junshan and Xiang Xiang’s dance…………. I`m just saying. And no this isn’t coming from a frustrated shipper, lol. It’s so obvious, ngl.

    1
    1

Just finished ep. 37 and I felt my blood pressure rising when they played the same tune “Greensleeves” during her dance with Junshan (while Yanzhen was fixing water pipes!) Just no, no. That was the tune they danced to in his old home surrounded by his mother’s relics, in such an intimate setting.

It’s so unfair that we get 5 minutes of glitzy ballroom dancing in ep. 37 but the OTP dance was cut.

I’ll get back to you when I’ve watched ep. 38-39 but I’ve long jumped from Second Lead Ship. He isn’t playing nice.
      #JusticeForYanzhen

      1
      2

😭😭 This is why I felt deeply robbed and I will forever be bitter that this beautiful scene got cut. What a big difference from the dance scene with Junshan. Show, how can you do this to me!

Anyways now that you have seen ep 37, lemme share with you why I have turned completely against Junshan around this time. You could not be more right, WishfulToki; he was not playing nice. I felt sick seeing how he used Xiang Xiang’s secret to get her to do the things he wanted to do with her. He, of all people, should know how difficult she’s been living at the academy disguising as a man. He made her run from academy and girl’s school back and forth, change from man to woman’s clothes just so he could bewith her. Just so he could “court” her. No, Junshan, no! He manipulated her because he knew her secret. He made her life difficult because he thought it was fun seeing the girl he liked go on dates with him. Dirty and disgusting.

And then I take a look back on Yanzhen the moment he figured out her real identity – he keeps her secret safe, cracks up to see her lie her way out with her friends about her twin only all to himself, he runs around like a chicken with its head cut off to make sure nobody finds out her secret. He had never, not even once used her secret against her. This is the man who loves his woman with all his heart and wants to make sure she doesn’t live a difficult life at the academy for being. A girl.

Episode 38 is very swoon worthy to me and highlights more the difference between Yanzhen and Junshan. How much of, once again, a better person Yanzhen is, so I’ll come back and discuss this with you when you’re done! Wait, we do need a separate post for Episode 38, you’ll understand why I think it’s soo good, so hopefully you’ll make a post about this and we can discuss! 😬

        0
        0

Also in my opinion, love triangle between Yanzhen – Xiang Xiang – Junshan happened the moment Junshan realized his feelings and decided to pursue her. Before it was purely Yanzhen’s assumption that she liked Junshan that’s why he’s competing with him. But she never said she liked Junshan.

        0
        0

🤷 I don’t get why it was cut either. On the opposite, it should have stayed to show the closeness of the OTP. Sigh.

    4
    1

My thoughts exactly. You could see how she’s slightly smiling while they dance. Perhaps it was something of he said, but she looked so comfortable dancing with him….

I also rewatched Episode 47 this afternoon and one of Xiang Xiang’s flashbacks came as a surprised to me again as I never saw it happened! It was that scene she had a leg injury and Yanzhen was helping her walk to her bed from the bathroom. She was looking at him as he removed her boot off….. like gaaaaaah! Waeeeee! 😫😫

      1

Why in the world would they censor such a harmless sweet scene? Thank you for the clip.

I’m at episode 35 so haven’t read your comments above. But I have a feeling that there is more editing going on because there are some strange transitions.

    3
    1

Cuuuuuuuuuuuz 😭😭 China govt doesn’t want harmless sweet stuff. 😭😭 But it’s definitely okay to show bloodbath for patriotism sake……..

Anyways I personally found episode 37 and 39 a struggle to binge because I have a strong opinion against Junshan around this time and I can’t help but compare him with Yanzhen and how much of a better man… actually scratch that, not just a better man, but a better person he is as a whole. I will talk more about it once you’re there. Episode 38 is the episode I have so many thoughts to share and can’t wait to discuss with you on a fangirl level. But anyways! I simply do not like this love triangle arc. It didn’t last long, but it felt too damn long, if I were being honest.

thx for sharing it’s was too beautiful that stupid staff cut it for that reason 🤦‍♀️

So I’m still at ep17 and was wondering why I didn’t see them dance!

    1

I hope you are enjoying Arsenal so far neerner! I will be forever bitter about the dance cut. I believe I posted about this beautiful dance that they cut *sobs* like thrice on my wall! 😭😭

I always say just as a warning lol that it’s not heavy on OTP romance but the gem lies on the characters. It’s an ensemble cast and each character has a story to tell. 😉

      1
      1

        I am enjoying it!

Thanks for the warning because I was starting to get really invested on the OTP and I haven’t had a scene with them in the last two episodes T_T

        1
        1

Yeah 💔 where you are at is the arc where they are separated the longest. I missed the OTP much around that time too. What I like about their dynamic is that their romance didn’t start because of love at first sight nor physical attraction. It stemmed from being strangers, to comrades to close friends to finding each other as their better halves. It’s not an easy road but they’re gonna go through a lot to make the end game worth it 😉

          5

Does that mean I’m gonna starve for a few more eps? 🥺🥺😭

He will be back Episode 22 🤣 and episode 23 is one of my favourites! His presence was certainly missed at the academy. He just turns the entire place and her life upside down and it’s not the same without him there.

            1
            0

🤣🤣🤣 He’s a nutcase for sure. He’ll even turn into Junshan for her if nothing is working. And now the image of him becoming Junshan doesn’t still well at all in our brains. He shouldn’t be like Junshan ever again! 😆😆

I found this cafeteria scene interesting because Xiang Xiang has her eyes on Yanzhen the entire awkward exchange. That gif above was the first. Junshan asks if he can sit next to her and her eyes went straight to Yanzhen. She tells him yes; Yanzhen does not say anything and goes straight to a seat across her.

She’s stealing glances at Yanzhen. He isn’t looking at her like he used to and she’s accustomed to.

    4
    1

OMG! I didn’t see this in any of the tags or links you gave so I was about to talk about this!

And here it is. THIS scene, right here! I LOOOOOVE how she stared at Yanzhen the whoooole time!

      1
      1

The conversation goes like this once everyone is seated:

Junshan: What did you chat about?
Huang Song: I wanted to borrow notes form Liangchen. He refused to lend me. He said he kept it for you.

Her eyes automatically check out on Yanzhen. She knows this will hurt. He was quiet the entire conversation, his head bowed down. I could hear his heart breaking from his silence. Yes, he is hurt, and his crazy usual self is certainly missed here

    4
    1

She cares about him (not just as a comrades now) and worries about him!

      4
      1

💘💘💘 Finally! Yanzhen’s efforts are slowly being paid off! It’s so nice to see her look at him when he isn’t!

        2
        0

This is noteworthy. Yanzhen has got his eyes on Junshan, Junshan’s on Xiang Xiang, and Xiang Xiang’s attention is on Yanzhen. She’s watching him.

    5
    2

And then she tries to get his attention back.

Of course, typical Yanzhen replies back a cheesy line!

But eeeps, Xiang Xiang is changing! I love that she’s noticing Yanzhen more and more.

    4
    1

      Soooo cheesy !
      Typical Guy Yanzheng.

      3
      1

😂😂 and just like that he is back to his usual self! Even if it was just for a short moment, we missed his cray.

Of course payback time with Yanzhen is always big. He doesn’t forget. Lol. In the next scene her notes turned into paper planes. 🤣🤣

        1
        2

See. This is why. The girl takes one step and then he helps her take ten steps back. I want to smack him!!

          2
          1

This manchild! 😭 And she looked happy to play with him at first before she realized his true intention!

            1
            0

I loved that scene. He was totally planning his paper planes revenge during that conversation, just so she wouldn’t give her notes to Junshan. 🤣🤣

          2
          1

Man, Gu Yanzhen. 😅 And here my thoughts were endless wondering why you were so quiet……. You revenge does run deep….😂😂 I think I know now what you were thinking while your eyes bored into Junshan – “You are so not getting her notes 😏”

            😂😂😂😂

            1
            0

Awww. She is looking at him and he looks at her.

    2

There was some weird editing this episode or was it just me? I checked Viki and my other site and both of them start a scene at the lockers but then cut to a random night scene at the bar. Something happened in the locker rooms, and I don’t know why the bully ended up with his arm in a sling.

    2
    1

That is correct, WishfulToki. This was one of the scenes that was cut due to censorship that’s why the editing was very bad. I wish they didn’t show it at all cuz it made check out what actually happen at the locker scene. So there was supposed to be a kiss in the locker scene!!!!! 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

Here is a snippet of what went on at the locker scene in the novel. https://twitter.com/nyueyu/status/1167912769389088770?s=21

      😭😭😭😭😭

      2
      2

Kiss? Oh man, so that’s why Xie Xiang is looking at him differently.

        2
        1

There was a gif below that tweet where Xiang Xiang is crying with a blanket on. I saw that from the viki trailer but I don’t think we’ve seen this seen at all in the show…? 🤔

          https://youtu.be/37iPWhy0mjM @0:37 mark….

So I believe this was her crying scene after he kissed her… My heart 💔

          1
          2

I’ve seen that GIF several times and wasn’t sure if it’s supposed to be a funny or sad scene. Since she said “how embarrassing!” I’m guessing it’s more on the funny side? Like she’s embarrassed that he kissed her, not sad because he kissed her without her consent? I hate forced kisses so I hope that wasn’t the case.

Yeah i think it’s more for comical relief because in the narrative, she cried harder when he tried to comfort her. That she was more concerned about what the students would think and the rumour that would spread than him stealing a kiss from her.

Just have to say, Shen has a nice smile. It’s nice to see him relax now that he knows she’s not a guy haha. I didn’t know he knew how to tease either.

He does smile warmly. Honestly I feel like had he not figured out who she was, he would have pursued Liangchen anyway. He’s been looking for a loophole somewhere somehow that Liangchen is a woman. His disappointment look when Huang Song confirmed with him that the girl on stage was his twin and not Liangchen was so raw.
