Episode 1 highlights the female lead’s sad love story. In 2019, she’s basically a living dead, getting through the days of her life without him. In every step, you were with her in her grief, her coping mechanisms, and how we learned she had never really moved on at all. Time had stopped for her. Her birthday celebrations that were once beautiful memories for her were something she could not look back on anymore.
The drama is labelled as timeslip romance, but I think it is more than that. By episode 2, my head is swirling with a lot of theories, possibilities of where this drama might be headed. Right now, I`m under the impression that this is a tale about alternate universes. That is, in another timeline, there is someone who looks like you living a whole different world. It made me remember a popular manga called Orange.
My theory right now is the two alternate universes will parallel eventually. The highschool students of the past will grow up and catch up with the present time that has the adults in it. How that’s going to work and be convincing in its fantasy world, I`m very curious to find out. I’ve only seen four episodes so far and I`m really liking it. I`m hoping I`m not setting myself up to frustrations and disappointments!

That’s when he started thinking about her as more Than a friend! One of my earliest theories is that in 2019, he’s purposely gifting her things that remind her of Wang Quan Sheng so that she could travel back in time and save the girl that he loved (her doppelgänger). But in episodes 4-5 keep hinting that they might be the same person but the logic doesn’t make sense as female lead pointed out. In 1998, Wang Quan Sheng was only 5 years old. Theories! Theories! Theories! I hope that ending satisfies us too. So far so good, but I’m not really feeling that psycho thriller being added into the mix at episode 5 cliffhanger 😤
I like it a lot and for an answer, we get more questions. Your brain will keep working, believe me! I think the psycho thriller plot will connect to the time travel/exchanged bodies soon.

I feel like Episode 5-7 dragged because it went into the direction I was uncomfortable with. It was too dark for my taste and I didn’t sign up for that. When it jumped to 2010, questions were answered and I really enjoyed this timeline.
When I got to beginning of Episode 8, I had to pause to take a breather because omg what was that reveal????? Anyways my interest with the drama definitely swing back at Episodes 8 and 9. Things have gone full circle by this time, at least with the main plot. And more questions popped up as they gave us more answers. But I enjoyed these two episodes because it definitely answered the mundane questions like: why was her favourite birthday cake taro, how and when did that song from 1998 become their couple songs
Indeed, my favourite timeline is the one between 2010-2019.
Regarding Mo Jun Jie – I can only say I loved the three-member squad in 1998 -___- sob. Hopefully that doesn’t change anytime soon.
Ep5-7 felt like another universe. Honestly, I didn’t buy the time-slip thing until ep8. I thought it was just HYX forgetting her past due to what happened and LZW finding ways to make the culprit (Dr Xie, I’m still on the fence of Mo Jun Jie killing Yun-ru). But then ep8 happened and now we are entering a new timeline.
One of my earliest theories is that Yu Xuan travelled back in time to save Quan Sheng in the present therefore messing up the timelines of both. And another one was that Li Zi Wei caught up with the present timeline and he wanted Yu Xuan to travel back in time to save Yun Ru, the one he actually loved.
But nope, the reveal was that Li Zi Wei was the frequent time traveller crossing and swapping bodies in different times…. I was like whoooa. And then that preview in episode of episode 9. Oh dear. He’s stuck in this vicious cycle of time travelling to save his love ones and to meet the love of his life because nothing is changing!! Where is episode 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I forgot to talk about Mo Jun Jie – seeing episode 9, I’m inclined to think he didn’t kill her…. Either she committed suicide and he took the blame for letting it happen before his eyes, or maybe she was already dead when he found her and still took the blame for failing to save her.
My heart would break so much if he actually did…. But that psycho class representative who is Yun Xuan’s shrink in the present def is involved in all this mess.
I’m thinking about what else to say and suddenly I felt sad Famy. These kids, Chen Yun-ru,Wang Quan Sheng (2010 ver), and Mo Jun Jie — the life they had…..

Every time I look at Mo Junjie, I feel his loss. He is the only person in the entire drama who truly misses Chen Yunru and likes her the way she is. He is also the first one to believe HYX that she is not CYR. While others are high-fiving HYX-CYR, he watches her with trouble eyes. 💔
So true. While everyone else was happy about the change, he was the only one longing for the old Chen Yun Ru.
