i MIGHT fuck around and watch money game, too. if it has the right kind of HOT TAKES. we are living in a post-parasite world people we can go as far as we want now!
ok i am starting and will let u know. now that i know more about it i can see what you mean about it possibly failing at what it sets out to do. i cannot imagine how you could fuck up smoething soooo crucial as a massive economic crash/IMF with regards to capitalism and zero in on chaebols instead of oligarchs but…we shall see…I AM PRAYING
The problem is that entrenched inequality and unrestrained capital power isn’t something new for Korea and it didn’t start with capitalism.
They have a concept that probably has a proper name but that I call the Confucian Contract. It’s the belief that entrenched financial inequality is normal but that there is an implicit social contract that those with power will wield it appropriately. So instead of advocating for strong regulation, a social safety net and powerful anti-corruption laws, they instead write stories about how powerful people are wrong for breaking the implicit social contract to not misuse the power given to them by… God, the universe, karma, however you want to put it.
Until Korea acknowledges the problem is the system and not individuals who choose to do the wrong thing, then they’re going to properly deal with their issues, narratively speaking.

Judging from their adaptation of Leverage, I wouldn’t hold my breath unfortunately. But I’d be interested to hear what you think.

Not bad writers. Just a show about capitalism that Korea wimped out on and made about evil Chaebols instead.
