I can see now that IU has grown so much as an actress! I remember not really liking how she acted out some of her characters in her previous dramas because they felt so green but after My Ahjusshi, she really found her footing ^^

SideNote: Iโ€™m absolutely in love with this scene. The way she walked in and the way she saunters out is just perfection. That purple dress is my favourite on her so far and Iโ€™m so glad they let her wear that colour because she looks extra beautiful in it (and also โ€™cause IU loves purple)

I still don’t know what Hotel Del Luna is about 😄, but I enjoyed watching IU and YJG.

Love Affairs in the Afternoon. I absolutely loath infidelity but this show is helping me understand why some people do it. Do I still condone cheating? Nope. Were the first two episodes done well? Absolutely.

The writers and actors managed to make me hate a character and feel the loneliness of another in just the premiering week, making me root for the extramarital affair for the FL to feel loved and appreciated. I also think itโ€™s interesting that FLโ€™s husband is obsessed with birds and her future side-dude (I donโ€™t know whatโ€™s a male version of a mistress/side-chick. Sorry^^โ€) is interested in plants/flowers. Her husbandโ€™s birds symbolising her want for freedom but sheโ€™s trapped in this marriage. Yet, future side-dudeโ€™s flower/plant symbolising how her relationship with this man will be slow and deep.

Side Note: I just hate the way her husband keeps calling her โ€œMomโ€. Itโ€™s pretty imminent that heโ€™s a mamaโ€™s boy but my goodness, I really want to slap him every time I hear โ€œOmmaโ€ come out from his mouth. Not only does he not pay attention to his own wife but heโ€™s like a spoiled boy asking favours from his mother.

    Agree with you.
I don’t know if I remember well, but I think I read somewhere that in Korea parents start to call each other “Omma” and “Appa” when they have children. So, the fact that he keeps calling her “Omma” is cruel, too, since he has no intention to have a child.
I’m glad someone else is watching it, I felt lonely ๐Ÿ˜€

I was going to skip this drama, to be honest. This topic isn’t something I’m usually interested in and it shouldn’t be taken lightly but I’m loving this writer and actors so far. ๐Ÿ™‚

The only reason I’m not watching it, is that I absolutely loved the Japanese original and I’m worried that they’re going to change it…

UPDATE on my part time job situation:
I managed to haggle my way into getting my hours back for this week but it\’s a bit hazy about what will happen in the future…
I managed to gather up confidence to ask my manager about this whole situation but she told me itโ€™s out of her hands since she was just following the orders of the higher ups. And sheโ€™s going to be transferred to a different branch next week so Iโ€™m not sure if the new manager will give me less hours. :/

I really want to look for another part time job but Iโ€™m stuck in this current one with odd hours that wonโ€™t allow it (unless I want to skip on sleep). I guess Iโ€™ll have to look for another soon..

Hi Beanies. I usually don\’t like to voice my irl frustrations online because thereโ€™s way too much negativity in online and I like to be more positive but I just needed a place to get this off my chest.

As some of you may remember, I just landed a job recently. To be more specific, it was a part time job for the summer before my classes begin again in September. This job was supposed to be a financial help for my family because my parents have to pay for not only my education but also my brothers.
Now, this job I am at is starting to cut a lot of my hours. So much so that I went from working 5-6 days a week to only 2-3 days which means I will be paid less and I wonโ€™t be able to reach my goal in time. This is quite frustrating to me because this isnโ€™t the first time this has happened at my part time jobs. At first I thought that maybe I was incompetent at my job and that maybe this is their way of forcing me to quit. However, I know for a fact that I am such an indispensable person in their team because Iโ€™m not only hard working but Iโ€™m also adaptable and a quick learner so I can easily be put in to a different position and manage.
Then, I thought that maybe itโ€™s because they had to cut labour costs and that they couldnโ€™t afford paying me. But, if they canโ€™t afford to pay a part timer, why are they hiring?

I am just frustrated.

PS. I already applied for a loan for the upcoming school year but I still have to pay the initial fees first since I donโ€™t know when itโ€™ll get approved.

Sorry to hear this. Are there any other part-time jobs you could look for, to fill up the spare time? ๐Ÿ™

    1
    1

I’m trying to look into finding one but I’m worried that I can’t make the amount I need because people take quite a while to respond back ๐Ÿ™ praying that I do find one that pays well and helps me fill up the remaining days of nothing

Do you feel comfortable enough to be able to outright ask them why your hours have been cut? It’s amazing what asking things outright can do – sometimes it’s literally just because they overlooked something and it’s an accident or a mistake. But only ask if you’re comfortable doing it. Do you think that if you left or got a second part-time job that would cause them to up your hours in order to keep you on? Do any of your coworkers have the same problem, or are you the only part-timer?

Best of luck, I hope things work out for you.

There’s another part timer who’s been working there for 3 years and she’s also getting her hours cut but not as much as me. I’m planning to try to talk to them about it but if it doesn’t go well, I’ll have to look for a second part time job.

This is also happening to someone I know. Summer is the slow season but they donโ€™t want to let people go because theyโ€™ll need trained people for when business picks back up. So they cut hours to keep them. Itโ€™s a terrible business model, especially for the employees, but also for the employers because now the employees are mad and will go to a new job as soon as the opportunity arises., and the employers are stuck training new people again in the busy season.

Have my tastes changed or has the quality of dramas lowered?
I really REALLY need a show that has an interesting plot AND is done right. I haven’t been super invested in any dramas this year, dropped so many and only barely managed to finish TSLOMS.
Hoping the second half delivers quality, be it in the writing, the production, or both.

Is this you? 😜 How adorable!

Yeah, you’re not alone in this terrifying thought? Like this is the firat year that I have not finished a show I really liked. I’ve never dropped so many and become disinterested to the point of looking more towards chinese dramas. 😱
Even though most of them start off great then lose steam. But I can’t say I have one favorite kdrama for this year and it’s already July?! I usually have at least one!!! But nothing has really stuck out to me. Hopefully it doesn’t stay like this for long.

Not to mention that the actual shows I wanted to watch this year are either not available or not recapped. 😭😡

I was really hoping ALM:L was going to be the one for me but the writer sadly messed with religion in a weird way that I cant get past it…*sigh*

Hi Beanies! I hope June had been kind to you all ^^ I celebrated my birthday 2 days ago with the most gorgeous sky I’ve seen all week, and some chocolate cake (although I prefer mango ^^”) May your July be filled with skies that are beautiful to look at, love all around you and happiness in your hearts <3

Sometimes, I catch myself acting like a Candy and it just catches me off guard a bit. I thought I was a strong and independent woman who takes control of her situation but here I am just letting things come and sway me. At least I donโ€™t have a chaebol mother-in-law trying to destroy a nonexistent relationship?

I think I am way more a candy than all those hauty female leads who know their s***. But candies are all good when they work many jobs and are emotional not when they are carried by a chaebol heir. So being a candy ain’t bad. They all start good and independent, it’s the chaebol that messes things up.

I love it whenever my mom cooks because I can’t ever get this certain taste that comes with all her food that makes it ever so delectable. Turns out it’s not MSG but love. She says it tastes the best with it.

She’s like Robin Hood gone wrong. Her intentions are in the right place but her heart isn’t. She is not only hurting DaeJu but also hurting the other secretaries. Feel like the writer wants us to sympathise with her but she is making it hard for me to even like her.

8

I think the writer is being a bit more nuanced than that. While we may sympathize with her intentions, the execution of her plans has negative impacts. The ends here, do not always justify the means, even if she is trying to bring about justice for those that mistreated by the elite in the company.

I feel for her, I understand her motivations, but things have gotten out of control, and she is teetering on the verge of becoming willing to sacrifice the innocent for her own gain.

I love their relationship so much! And it’s kind of interesting to point out that their relationship can be seen through their body language.

Veronica Park : siting with legs apart (more masculine/ aggressive)
DaeJu : sitting with legs together (more feminine/ submissive)

Their personalities are literal opposites of each other and itโ€™s interesting how they can come together!

I always want to make a witty comment but every time I am about to, my mind turns blank and I stare at the screen wondering what I was doing… Must be those long hours staring at the screen. I can hear my mother now cackling that she told me so -_-\”

Rewatching BIMFL and I see this scene in a much more different light than I did when it first aired. I saw it to be encouraging then but now I realise how naive I was. I felt horrible rewatching this scene and hope that when and if I have children, they are nothing like me. I only hope and pray they are better than the kind of person I am.

Beanies! Remember that interview I did a couple of weeks ago? Well, I didn\’t get that job but I had another interview straight after and got it! ^^ Thanks for the encouraging words! I will be starting tomorrow and Iโ€™ll probably be not as active on here but Iโ€™ll be lurking on the sidelines. ๐Ÿ™‚ (oh, and if I manage to go to the beach anytime soon, Iโ€™ll surely snap a pic for all of you to see)
