Kill It Ep 1-2:-

If this show doesn’t get itself together by the end of ep 4, I think I will actually cry . I had been looking forward to this show so much, it was the only one from this roster of kdramas. It has everything it might need to be good (the casting for the leads is especially perfect, given the characters’ background), but the team behind this show needs to be less scared of the lower number of episodes & stop trying to fit in a hundred different things into an hour, compromising on character establishment in the process, which makes it all look contrived. They also need to be less heavy handed with the sound design. Yes, I get it. Cold-blooded killer. You don’t have to shove it down my throat by playing the customary dangerous music every time the ML is onscreen (except, go figure, when he is the FL. At which point, it turns into a romantic piano number *facepalm*), even when he is doing something as non-threatening as opening or closing a damn door. Finally, I appreciate the cinematographic approach which is different from other kdramas. I do. I really do. But my, reign in your ambition a little. The lens, the filters, oh my plant. My eyes are so disoriented. It is just too much.

So…two more eps. I really really REALLY want this show to be good. And who knows, The Light In Your Eyes also got itself together after two episodes, phenomenally so too. So there IS hope (nobody tell me otherwise. Let me live for one more week at least).

P.S. Who else rolled their eyes at the end of Ep 2?

There’s always hope for the first four episodes. That’s why I try reign in judgement till then hehehehe.
I totally rolled my eyes. Like why would he save her? Idk lol. This drama is weird. I’m enjoying it but I agree with all your points and then some.

I wasn’t going to watch this and the general first impression was so negative I was happy with my choice.

But… the way people are talking about this almost makes it sound like a kdrama trope trainwreck. I’m getting really tempted to pick it up, especially since I’m not watching anything at the moment.

Look, let’s put it this way- I was scrolling back through my comments today and realized how much fun I had hating MOA, and so far Kill It already has two minor shitposts written about it on my phone, so there is a high possibility it will turn into a hate-troll watch that I end up enjoying by shitposting … And it’s only 12 episodes long and has hints of good moral conflict underneath the draggable tropes.

I just love the notion kdrama writers have that a “strong” female lead is one who barges into a situation with inadequate knowledge and starts yelling at people. Like aggressive incompetence is a trait women should aspire to.

“She may be a judgmental idiot, but she’s a LOUD one that nobody will mess with”.

*snorts* A loud one that throws pens into people’s mouths…
Oh you’re gonna make me rant now.
            I said I wasn’t gonna.
            TOO BAD.
I’m just gonna go with the feeling you don’t care about spoilers.

So in Episode 2 there’s this situation where Pretentious Cop Chick saves Arrogant Orphan Building Owner Teenagers life but then looks too far into Teenagers personal life and both Hot Hired Killer and Teenager tell Pretentious Cop Chick to Back Off Out Of Their Lives They Didn’t give you Permission to Insert Yourself Into. And then the Cop Chick kinda gets pissy again, being like I was only trying to help, I relate to her situation, I don’t find pleasure in other people’s pain BLAH BLAH BLAH.
And I THINK they intended to have this situation because it was supposed to make the Cop Chick look sympathetic because there’s this whole line about helping strangers and fighting for strangers, and then there’s a flashback showing that Cop Chick is also an Orphan like the Teenager.
And eventually the Teenager is like “she saved my life but we’re just mocking her woops my bad”.
But the way it came across was just— not sympathetic. At all.
I think they were trying to write her as this tortured female cop with a terrible past that makes her want to stand up for people and justice, so she’s kind prickly or whatever because of that, but mostly she’s just kinda a pretentious entitled b*tch… *ahem* or at least that’s currently how I find her. I tolerate her though. Because she amuses me. Or rather Hot Hired Killer’s non reactions to her amuse me. I just don’t get where the show thinks its taking her though. I get she has to be involved in their lives for Plot but it was just so badly done.

See I knew you’d make me want to watch it… even though I know I’d hate it, rant about it, remember it’s my Year Of Dropping, and drop it.

Now I just want to sit back and read the pair of you being snarky about the show.

Didn’t mysterious lady send him the photo of detective with the umbrella? Or did he have this photo because she was his next target? Either way it wouldn’t benefit him to see her get killed by random villain

Yes that’s exactly the conclusion I also came to actually- that he knows she’s related to his past in some way and therefore can’t afford to let her die, I completely agree.
But if they try and explain it with some emotional reasoning, whcih yaknow, this is dramaland, I’ma be like, too soon bro, too soon. Ofc we never really know what SH is thinking… at all… so…

I still have no idea if what we are seeing is supposed to be romantic. Are they siblings? Should I ship them? Should I not? Am I crazy for thinking that hard about this show?

Ship them anyway and then the payoff, either being burnt or satisfied, is more fun and dramatic, right? Right??
Lmao. Idk I kinda lowkey ship them. I don’t really like her but I like moral conflict his real job is gonna throw up hehe. I doubt and hope they’re not siblings though, can’t handle another HMS ye ken.
