Melo Suits Me Ep 1:-

I don’t normally write reviews for just first the ep of a show, but I just had to this time. I loved it. Yes. This has been the strongest premiere ep in a long while. LONG while. Everything about it was perfect – tight scripting, assured direction, strong performances across the board, quirky three-dimensional characters, etc. I already feel like I know our main characters & connect with them, root for them. All this, in just the first ep. THIS is how you do a setup, instead of just info dumping & making us feel like it’s a necessary evil all of us drama watchers have to go through before we get to the real story. There is also a Wes Anderson influence that I love. If they had gone too heavy handed with it, they would have run the risk of alienating the viewers, especially since it will be stretched out over 16 hours, instead of just two. But the team behind this show knew how to expertly morph his whimsicality with their slice-of-life genre, creating a show that feels very fresh & engaging with the perfect balance of light-heartedness & melodrama. Quite simply, this was a great ep & anyone who hasn’t watched it yet, needs to do so now. But also, this IS only the first ep….what if it crashes from the next one. Imma flip something if that happens. I am almost scared to check out the next ep.
