Beanie level: Wrongly accused fugitive

And since I won’t be here… Let me post this.

The lyrics are written in (Twitter) fandom speech (also known as stan Twitter).

Some of the lyrics to appreciate it:

Shout out to my ult that’s The Wife
She’s oomf plus she loves me irl
In real life

You a multifandom go ahead
‘Cause I ain’t insecure

This ain’t a come back
Just a fun rap honestly that only took
A few minutes to do
Mc Jin I’m your spirit animal
That you know you won’t find in a zoo

Back to the facts it get snatched so fast
You won’t even know where’s your wig at

Produced by Zhang Yixing (EXO’s Lay)!

I’m leaving for a week-long working vacation today, so I might be more of a lurker than I usually am. Enjoy your dramas!

I’ll leave you with these three chipmunks imitating birds. (‘Cause why not?)

Feeling like some powerful girl group K-pop tonight.

This is their debut. And the song is self-composed.

The best thing I’ve seen this week.

Pentagon’s debut song in acoustic version. They were only rookies back then! And they all sound great live and Hui plays the piano so well!

I can’t stand the thought of you all missing out on such an amazing thing. @daydee @hades @ohhaeyoung Anyone?

The problem with this group is that there are 10 members and everyone of them is good–well, I’m still on the fence about Yuto maybe because I think E’ Dawn and Wooseok rap better. So there’s only so much time to shine that some end up getting. Why don’t they give Yanan more lines!? I seriously think he’s the most slept on in that group and I honestly think he can give Jinho a run for his money. Are Yanan and Yuto there for the Chinese and Japanese stuff?

    2
    1

Hey, I get your point. They were formed through Pentagon Maker where they had to collect points and if someone didn’t make the cut, he wouldn’t debut. I think Shinwon was eliminated but in the end got to debut. (Haven’t seen it yet, don’t know the details.) Maybe they hoped to cut some members there and speaking objectively, it would have helped. More lines! Speaking subjectively, no way!

If I had doubts about someone, it would be Shinwon (even if he’s my bias). His vocals are good but not very stable. I do not doubt Yuto at all but I might not be the best judge of rap skills. But… He writes his raps himself and his flow is good.
I am not sure this will help – it’s a song composed by the rap line and Yuto raps in Japanese.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aD5U9jcCuEc
I’ve just listened to his rap compilation and he does have slower raps but that isn’t the point, is it? In what way do you feel he’s lacking?

Yanan and Shinwon always get the least lines… I think it might be because their voices aren’t stable? They might be more likely to screw up a live. I guess. But yes, Yanan’s vocals are really good. The one line he had in this video was so perfect.

I am not sure that’s the main reason but one of the reasons definitely. Pentagon is quite popular in Japan (their last EP charted 1st on Japanese Tower Records Weekly chart), so having a Japanese member comes in very handy. They do not have anything in China though.

I hope that when they get more popular, Cube might let them do some solo/sub-unit stuff. That would let them shine.

This group is seriously underestimated though. Thanks for the share!

Pentagon’s Jinho was once an SM trainee (could have been in EXO) and part of SM the Ballad vol. 1 with some of the best SM vocalists – TRAX’s Jay, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun and SHINee’s Jonghyun.

Jinho is the smallest one, sitting on the sofa in the thumbnail.

I LOVE JINHO SO MUCH I remember desperately praying that his teaser for Exo was to come last but it never did ☹️

    1
    1

I didn’t know K-pop at the time, but now that I’ve learned of Jinho being in SM I keep imagining what EXO would have been like with Jinho in it. He wouldn’t be the oldest hyung there, so he would probably be much more playful. I can totally see him fooling around with the Beagle line (Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Chen), lol.

But I am really happy he got to debut in the end. I’ve heard he had almost given up debuting and wanted to become a musical actor? We’re all lucky Cube debuted him. It’s SM’s loss.

      0
      1

I love Jinho too! I read somewhere a long time ago that Jinho might have been replaced by Baekhyun in the lineup closer to EXO’s debut. Whether that’s true or not, SM sure lost an amazing artist but I’m so glad Jinho found a way to bless us with his voice.

        0
        1

I’ve read he was replaced by D.O. And also that he couldn’t debut with EXO because his dancing wasn’t good enough? But who knows, we’ll never know what really happened. It would be really such a loss if his voice stayed hidden. Thanks, Cube.

          1
          4

To my understanding he was replaced with either Baekhyun or D.O., but we’ll never know for sure. Jinho, Chanyeol, and D.O. are good friends though! (But seriously, they should have replaced Suho instead). Jinho’s dancing is actually really good??? There was this one old video of the Exo trainees practicing and he was quite excellent in it.

            1
            0

@kumoiwa They are? I need proofs! How, when? (Exo and Pentagon are my two main groups, you see…)

Suho… His voice is not as powerful as Jinho’s, I know. But he’s great as a leader. I don’t know if leader positions were already set back then or if his family’s background played some role in it. He’s also been a trainee for a long time (Baekhyun and Chen weren’t, I know). Maybe there wasn’t enough high notes for so many powerful vocals in one group and so they exchanged a main vocal for a main vocal.
But really, I think something else must have happened. And no one will ever really know.

Really? Do you have it bookmarked anywhere? I would love to see it! (If not, then nevermind.)

            1
            0

Yup! Here’s Jinho and Chanyeol going to Japan together, Jinho visiting Chanyeol’s mother’s restaurant with D.O., and Jinho at EXO’s debut showcase. Which is cruel, if you think about it πŸ™

I can’t find the video but I swear it exists somewhere in the depths of the internet!

            2
            0

Oh, my EXO-Pentagon heart! I knew he would have been great friends with beagle line. I just knew it. They’re even the same age. (Why, SM? Why?)

Thanks so much. I think I found the article that you’re citing. In the first picture Jinho looked so much like D.O… But it’s him after all.
Poor boy! Knowing he could have stood there with Chanyeol… Must have been so painful. He is even smiling in the picture.
Jinho apparently used to have his own Instagram account and followed Chanyeol in 2016.
Chanyeol mentions Jinho in his 2015 album message. They must have been quite close then. I wonder if they still keep in touch. Both are so busy (Jinho less, but even so).

I believe you, it’s okay. I am so thankful that you told me about their friendship! My heart has been fully satisfied. Now I am going to watch some videos of EXOxPentagon interactions.

I am creeped out by SM Ent. I\’ve just read a theory connecting EXO and Red Velvet and it all fits too well. It\’s like a drama that\’s happening in real life. What if RV wins? And who\’s the spy in EXO? Will we ever know for sure?

If anyone\’s brave enough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofxZ8VLZ7aI

Oooo…. I’ve just read about this Red Force theory. But not about Red Velvet… The one I’ve read is The Lucky One where 3 members (K, L, T) still trapped while the others currently trying to run away. Lay is being captured, Baek lost his power because Lay is his counterpart…. but they have won the war against RF in Power MV. Baek falls into the water is still mystery??
Anw…. I always thought NCT is being prepared by SM to replace EXO. πŸ€”πŸ€”

    0
    2

Who do you mean by T? I don’t think I’ve read “The Lucky One” theory, but I am familiar with the “Power” theory. I thought that Baekhyun falling might be him getting on the Earth from the EXO planet? But I don’t know why or when, lol.

Replace? I wouldn’t say replace. They are definitely the future of SM, especially when EXO will go to army, but they won’t replace them just as EXO didn’t replace Shinee or Super Junior. Or did you mean replace EXO in the theories? I might have misunderstood your meaning.

If you’re interested in some crazy theories (that girl must be secretly working at SM, really), check out the YT channel DOwithloveEXO (the Red Velvet theory is also hers).
This one was really scary though. RF_05 from the “Power” MV could stand for Red Velvet (they have 5 members!). Most of RV MVs are about catching/capturing someone, while most of EXO MVs are about running away. There’s also a parallel between RV’s “Russian Roulette” and EXO’s “Mama”. You should just watch the full video. And then watch some RV MVs (for example “Peek-a-boo”) and you’ll be scared like I was. There was also a CF with EXO and RV called “Sweet Monster”. If SM’s trying to interest EXO-Ls in RV, they’re doing a good job.

      1

T is Tao… I don’t remember who made the video about this, but after re-watching Lucky One MV, i notice that there are 3 lightstick (he/she said they represent the 3 members who left exo: kris, luhan & tao) while other 9 members tries to escape the maze (Lay, I think is being captured). I have check DowithloveEXO’s video about ElyXion theory… Mindblowing, really….. LOL. I like Pathcode theory as well..
I haven’t check the theory about RV-related. I don’t really like RV concept from the beginning, so I don’t bother to check their MVs. But, if this is about boy-girl group paralel.. Maybe SM did try to put more interest from EXO-L to RV.
However, I don’t think SM manages their girl group very well.. If I remember correctly, TVXQ’s gg counterpart is no longer exist (don’t remember their name), Suju (incomplete members due to army, but still around) while SNSD is disband 😢😢, Shinee still around too despite losing 1 member but f(x) is gone (and I really like f(x) 😭😭). I dunno if RV will experience the same fate as SNSD dan F(x)… Hopefully not..

        0
        1

Ah, it was Kris, Luhan, Tao. I see. I’ll rewatch it. Something similar happened in “Hey Mama” MV – there are twelve boxes and Xiumin takes three out.
I still need to watch Pathcode teasers and read the theory, lol.
I don’t really like RV and never bothered to listen to them, but this theory was mindblowing. (Check it out! Check it out! Just kidding, you don’t need to.)

Which company does manage their artists well? I haven’t found one yet. (Maybe JYP? I can’t remember any dirt on them rn, but I bet they are not that perfect either.)
I don’t know who was TVXQ’s gg counterpart either. SuJu is not full, two members left, I think, and two are not participating in the activities (one of them due to driving under influence). But that’s not really SM’s fault, is it? They are still going strong.
I do not think SNSD disbanded, where did you hear that? They had a comeback last year. I didn’t know three members left SM last year, but even with that they didn’t really leave SNSD. Right? I hope they will somehow continue.
And f(x) is not gone! They are just on a looooong hiatus right now. If there was no official statement, then they still exist. It’s true that they deserve a comeback and here SM really is doing them wrong. (But again, SM is not the only one who puts their artists on a shelf.)
One more thing I wanted to add. Idol group disbandements are unfortunately natural as groups get older, especially the GGs. After some time idols want to focus on their own “normal” life or they need to make money differently and women might want to have children. And start a family.

I sound like such an SM stan right now… But SM did do a lot of things wrong (EXO-M!) and I do not think the company is perfect.

          0
          1

Oww… Thank God.. I always thought SNSD and F(x) are disband already. 😭
I forgot Kang In left because of his DUI and one member had to leave because he wanted to get married (i heard it was the fans who demanded him to leave suju and also bcoz of the fan gifts thing).
I keep reminding myself that no bg and gg can last forever, bcos eventually they will get older, new-younger-freshfaces group will replace them and as they are humans too, they will want to settle down and have a family. But i hope someday they will reunite again, just like Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls (if they want to, oc).

Anw I have to re-watch Hey Mama MV twice to find that 3 boxes scene. But… Why did I see that there are 10 box left on the shelves?? Have to re-check again. I think some clues also hidden in exo-cbx mvs (like the key on xiumin face in Blooming Days – the 3 keys theory) and cbx as the (alleged) traitor.

            0
            0

That thing was a mess! I remember the Korean fans officially said they would stop supporting him. I think he lied about his fiancΓ©e not being pregnant when she was.

Some groups are like that! I think Shinhwa is still active… And g.o.d. too. So it is possible.
I can’t watch the Hey Mama MV right now. Strange, I’ve read about it somewhere.

Oh my, you seem to be ahead of me in the theories. I haven’t read the key theories. And they are supposed to be traitors? I’ve heard before that Xiumin and Chen are suspects. I don’t think Baekhyun is though, he is the one who saved EXO in Monster. Rather like a double agent.
They are definitely connected to the main EXO theory, just as Lay’s MVs are (like the end of Lose Control where his eyes went red – and then he stopped promoting with EXO).

Finished Rich Man today. Yay! Special thanks to @wishfultoki who was my inspiration on this long and difficult journey.

The drama wasn’t all bad and the ending was cute. I even got what I asked for – Kim Bo Ra found work she was passionate about and stopped being Yoo Chan’s puppy. I think it could have been a good rom-com with better writing.
However, I’ve been traumatized by the song “Hard to Me”. It is what “Almost Paradise” was to Boys Over Flowers. I was in pain whenever I heard the first notes of the song. And they had two versions – male and female – so guess how often we’ve heard it?

7
9

Aw, I think the encouragement was mutual… I agree on the OTP ending and I too was happy that Kim Bo Ra found a dream.

“It’s hard for me to hate youuuuuuu”. It’s hard to hate a song that acknowledges our struggle in hating it. (?)

    2
    1

I had no trouble hating the song despite its understanding nature. πŸ˜›
What cracked me up was when the song was playing during a scene where Yoo Chan was sad over Tae Joo and someone commented that the song is actually not about OTP but about those two. “It’s hard for me to hate you. It’s hard for me to forget you.”
I was not behind Min Tae Joo’s redemption arc though.

      2
      1

It was funny how in the end it seemed the OTP was Yoo Chan and Tae Joo, a 10 year-old relationship that couldn’t be broken πŸ˜›
I totally think he should have stayed in prison for a while or at the least grovelled his way back to Tae San and start from the bottom cleaning bathrooms. It’s not realistic that the the Next In board of directors would accept him coming back as Vice-President after what he did. Oh well.

        2
        2

I understand why Yoo Chan forgave him so easily though, Yoo Chan was practically a child in heart and his mom left him when he was just a kid. He was somehow very naΓ―ve and vulnerable, so forgiving his easily best friend for betraying him wasn’t difficult. He trusted him again so easily, I thought it could end pretty badly if Tae Joo hadn’t really changed and decided to betray him again.

He did stay in prison for over a year. Not sure that was enough… The problem was with pacing here. They could have cut out some redundant stuff and clichΓ© plot twists and focus on the interesting things. I would have loved to see Yoo Chan’s fall much sooner and then spend more time on getting revenge (which didn’t happen here, ok, small boys don’t do revenge on their big brothers) or rebuilding his company and the change of his character. That seemed kind of sudden to me as well. And if the fall happened earlier, they would have had more time for Tae Joo in and out of prison.

I think this drama could have been almost great with better writing (or I am just in good mood because the finale was satisfying). If they explored Yoo Chan’s abandonment issues a bit more (Yoo Chan’s childish vulnerability was captivating), let Kim Bo Ra grow up earlier, let Yoo Chan dump Tae Ra earlier, it could have been really good. There were moments when I really enjoyed this drama and I am sad it did not use all its potential. (Of course, acting is acting, I know…)

          3
          2

Yes, I think we spent too much time on the Kim Bong Hoon story, which made Kim Bo Ra be a very passive character. Things got better when Yoo Chan left the company in ep. 11-12 (and when Painter Boy was around πŸ˜‰ ) but that left little time for us to see his growth and Tae Joo’s fall+redemption. .

Thanks for watching with me. Discussing with you has helped me remember the enjoyable moments. The rest I can forget. πŸ™‚

Watching ep 11 of Rich Man was quite frustrating (the ending!).
I want to send both Min siblings somewhere far away, preferably to a deserted island, so they can happily manipulate each other.

Ok, episode 11 was a mess. Plot all over the place. Bo Ra literally did nothing all episode, Yoo Chan keeps leading on Tae Ra, who is manipulating him in turn. Ugh ugh. These horrid human beings.

To be fair, Bo Ra did do something – promised to leave the company quietly! And gave Tae Ra a piece of her mind.

Ok, she did say something that seemed to reach Tae Ra’s self-centered mind… I actually wish Bo Ra does leave the company because she is completely useless there. What happened to her memory skills?

I think working in IT on a position of a game developer was not a good idea from the beginning.
I wouldn’t say she’s completely useless there, she seemed to be working as a secretary for Yoo Chan. I wouldn’t mind some more OTP time (especially in such tough times) but leaving the company will be good for her.
I think she might take the offer of the to-be politician lady. I’m hoping she could maybe gain some confidence and find something she’s good at (besides memorizing). And it would be nice if Yoo Chan recognized her and her work at the end (calling her something else than “fool” or “stupid” would suffice).

FINALLY watched this week’s episodes. It was hard to finish through it. You know those dramas where you have a hard time identifying with every characters’ decisions? This is one of them. Honestly if all of them sat in a room and discussed frankly their stupid issues, it wouldve all been fixed. Like geez louise. These siblings are pains.

    1
    1

The lack of communication and misunderstandings must be the most often used plot in not only K-dramas, but also in other stories (books, series etc.). The sad thing is, people rarely say what they really think or speak frankly about their issues… But yes, on screen it can get very frustrating… And the siblings are truly painful to watch.
