Beanie level: Errand boy

I’m back from my trip to the UK!
Thank you again for all your lovely advice, Beanies. I had a fun time and visited London and Cambridge (no Bath after all). I’m definitely going to visit the UK again! 😉

Have a great day everyone! 😃

Was it too cold in London? I’m going there in March. And will visit Cambridge too. And (of course) the Old Trafford as well ☺

It depends on what you define as cold… It was around 6 degrees maybe? In the morning it was raining and it was really cold, we had to go to a café because I was almost frozen. But it was warmer during the day.
I hope March weather is nicer! 😊

Have fun! I’m not big on sports, so I haven’t been to the Old Trafford, but Cambridge was really beautiful.

Oh thank you, i hope March will be nice to me too! 😂😂😂 Last year i spent winter in some parts of Europe (but minus UK) so i have the idea of what kind of frozen ☃️ you’re talking about 😭😭😭

Hi everyone!
My exams are finally over! I haven’t been watching dramas much lately, but I’ve been reading! (I’ve borrowed Anna Karenina from the library, let’s see if I finish it! 🙈)

The real question here: On Tuesday I’m going to the UK for a week-long vacation and I was wondering if you had any tips or ideas about places to visit or things to do.
I’ll be also visiting London for two days. What would you recommend seeing or doing there? I’m a poor student, so I’m on budget, but share anything with me!

Congratulations on finishing exams! I tried to read anna karenina, I couldn’t finish it. I didn’t even make it a third into the story!

What other places are you visiting in the UK?

If you download the app todaytix you can buy cheap theatre tickets for London west end. Try the official london tickets website too. Visit the globe theatre, I think you can buy 5 pound standing tickets for a Shakespeare play.
There are some really cool vintage/records stores in shoreditch/brick lane or Camden.
Piccadilly circus is fun too, you can walk down to Chinatown and explore soho.
If you like shopping you could go Oxford street or Westfields Stratford/white city.
All the Art galleries & museums are free to enter; National portrait gallery, tate modern, the British museum, natural history museum.
I quite like walking along the southbank or in the royal parks.

It might be worth getting an oyster card so you can use the buses &the tube. If you make 2 bus journeys within an hour , you are only charged for the first journey-£1.50.

I’d avoid traveling on the tube during rush hour because it is crowded & more expensive to travel. You can use tfl website to plan what you want to go. Avoid trains from 7am-9:30am, 4pm-7pm..

Hope you have a great trip! 😊

Thank you! I wouldn’t start Anna Karenina on my own, but my sister has read it and said it was really well-written.

I’ll be staying in Corby, my aunt was living there for a time and she has friends there. We might also visit Peak District and possibly Bath, but I’m not really sure yet.

Thank you for all the tips! The tfl website is really helpful. I’ll have to cut my stay in London short to just one day after all, so I won’t get to see or do much, but I’m planning to visit London again and I’m saving this for future reference!

Wow that sounds lovely, I’m hoping to go the peak district one day!
Bath is a beautiful town if you get to visit, lovely architecture.
Honestly I just like walking around London, there is always something to see and do!
        Have a great trip!

          Thank you!
I’m afraid the day travelcard wouldn’t pay off for us as we’ll have just around six hours 🙁 . I think we’ll just walk through the centre.
But thank you for all your advice!

If you are only staying in London for one day , I would just get a day travelcard not an oyster card, it will cover you for buses and trains

Ooh let me know how you like Anna Karenina…I have watched the movie version so I’ll probably never read the book…but I do need to read more Russian literature as I haven’t really read any of their novels other than short stories

And yay UK vacation travel 😀 hope you have a fun time and safe flights! I’m a foodie and I highly recommend Nando’s chicken which seems to only be available in UK/Ireland within Europe. We actually have locations in a couple of US states so I have tried it and it is so good 😀

    1
    1

Sure! When I finish it… I kinda have a thing for Russian literature. At least some of it. (Eugene Onegin has a special place in my heart. I think it’s just Pushkin’s writing.)

Thank you! I’ve enjoyed my time and the flight was really fun (my first time flying). I saw a few Nando’s, but didn’t get around to eating there. But at least I have something to return for. 😀

I started watching Dance Sport Girls yesterday (because procrastination!) and I love it so much.
Thank you to all the Beanies who sang it praises. (Thanks, ChinguMode @leetennant!)

I suddenly want to start dancing too, but I\’m not very good and too lazy to start. Anyways, the cinematography!

I shouldn\’t rewatch my favourite dramas. I don\’t like Doctor Kim or Yoon Seo Jeong in Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim anymore. They both seem too unrealistic, too perfect without a single fault, while Kang Dong Joo is the one who makes all the mistakes.

The whole conflict suddenly seems too two-dimensional: the good perfect humanists of Doldam Hospital versus the bad corrupt individualists of Goedae Hospital.

And I don\’t think it\’s right to leave out something important during an operation just because you\’re operating on a rapist. Plus nobody knew for sure the patient was a rapist. Doctors are not judges.

This used to be my favourite drama. I\’m not sure if I overlooked this all the first time around or if I\’ve changed, but not anymore. I\’ve been enjoying it so much and now I have nothing to watch…

2

I still haven’t decided whether I should drop it or not. I still like Kim Sabu, but the rest ugh…
Agree with the whole conflict seems two dimensional

    1

The romance was nice. (There were some good and funny moments I was looking forward to!) And Kim Sabu was epic. Plus there’s still Kang Dong Joo’s character development (one of the best things about the whole drama).

I really enjoyed the drama the first time around. *sigh*

My favourite Christmas song right now…

Lay has released (another) English song! And it’s soft and laid-back, it doesn’t get on your nerves. 😅
And the lyrics are beautiful.

Merry Christmas! 🎄
I hope everyone is having a great day. Or night. 😅

I\’m done with the first half of exams this semester (I still have some left in January), so I\’ve decided to rewatch Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim (because why should I keep watching Alhambra when I can start something else, right? 😛 ). The first time I watched this was two years ago in January, so I always get reminded of it this time of year. I\’m really enjoying it! (Can\’t wait for that ship to sail!)

I am so out of loop with the recent dramas, so shoot, what\’s good?
(Not that I\’ll have the time to watch it, but anyways… 😅 I\’m just feeling a bit social. 🙈)

Sky Castle may be the best show of 2019.
But it’s dark satire and often extremely intense and a bit brutal.
I recommend but I wouldn’t call it a fun watch.

Just Dance/ Dance Sports Girls is excellent: fun, heartwarming and so cute. It’s an underrated little gem. Also, it’s only 8 episodes so a perfect holiday watch.

LT’s taste is 100% on-point and I agree with everything she said.

These two shows finally got me out of my slump.

Thank you! I’ll put both on my holiday to-watch list.

I started Memories of Alhambra and it is fun! I love the plot twists – I had forgotten the screenwriter was the author of \”W\” – and surprisingly I don\’t dislike Jin Woo as much as I initially did!

I\’ve seen only three episodes so far, so no spoilers please. 🙂

He will appear in the upcoming drama Memories of Alhambra (the first picture).

Oh, I didn’t know he was gonna be in it! Is this his first time acting?

    1
    1

No, he was the main lead in a Chinese movie “So I Married An Anti-fan” and played a smaller role in the K-drama “Missing Nine”. 🙂

I like it as well! Key is a great dancer; I think we tend to forget that because in SHINee he performs with Taemin. I’m glad he’s getting solo opportunities.

    2
    1

Key is the full package – he can sing, rap, dance, he’s witty AND he can speak English.

      1
      1

Yeah! I agree with this 100%. I tend to think he’s one of the smartest active idols. He’s also pretty good at Japanese.

By the way, for some reason this is very familiar to me. The beginning, for instance, reminds me of James TW’s “When You Love Somebody”.

He is good at Japanese! I’ve seen a skit where he was supposed to pretend he was speaking Japanese, but he used actual Japanese.

I don’t know that song, but the beat reminds me a lot of “I Want You” or “Good Evening”. And the song does have elements I’ve heard in other songs recently, but it’s still refreshing.

Seeing what happened to \”Where Stars Land\”, I\’m happy I dropped it after two episodes…
I didn\’t like the way Chae Soo Bin portrayed her character.

she actually became much easier to like after those initial episodes. It was honestly a good show… up until the last 2 episodes… *le sigh* whoomp whoomp…

I would say it’s good to know that and that I’ll try to watch it again… But I won’t. *sigh* I’m sorry it turned out like that.

Hi there! ^^

I haven’t been around for a while (and it’s all school’s fault!), so I just wanted to drop in to say: Hi!
(Yes, I’m procrastinating right now. 😂)

It’s funny how I’m so out of loop with K-dramas lately… Before the crazy school set in, I’ve been watching Devilish Joy and Terius behind Me. Hopefully I’ll get back to it soon.

To be absolutely fair, other than studying I’ve been fangirling over the EXO comeback (with my real life friends) and chatting with EXO-L Beanies on our KakaoTalk groupchat (everyone’s welcome to join!) and also scanning Twitter… 😅

Since I haven’t been on the fanwall in a long time, I apologise to all the EXO related posts I failed to like or comment on. Also, if you tagged me and I didn’t respond… Sorry! The notif might have gotten lost on its way to me. 😅

Have fun, everyone!

I am at third episode of Devilish Joy, but I can’t bear to watch Hoya get his heart broken! He’s such a puppy, he doesn’t deserve that! How am I supposed to watch knowing he’s the second lead?!

Don’t worry about it…he gets better and his own love line too…

Really? Good to know! Then I might proceed in casual watching! 🙂 Thank you!

I love his character so much! He might be actually my favourite in this drama. Such a puppy. And Hoya is a great actor.

My tempo is all messed up now. (Sorry. I had to.)

I really really like the song (the chorus and the bridge!). I love the MV. They all look amazing. The album sounds great so far. Lay is in the Korean MV (even if just in two shots). I’m happy and beyond satisfied.

Me too!!! This is exo’s first song that I really like in first time hearing it!! I ended up watching their mubank show more than n times then watching individual fancams… The chinese mv is even better…
Sadly my db fanwall is kinda messy right now, I can’t post any link.. 😢😢😢

I honestly like it much better than I did KoKoBop on first listen. And the MV has no random burgers!

      I had the same issue…

      2

I had a really journey with this song over the course of my first listen and over the course of the day. On first listen, after the first 20 seconds, I thought I would hate it. After finishing the first listen, I was really pleasantly surprised. Over the course of the day, as I’ve listened to it a few times, I think it’s now in a three way tie with “Gravity” and “Oh La La La” for my favourite of this album, and tbh it’s one of their better songs in general (I agree with the “Ko Ko Bop” comments; I’m fine with that song, but it’s not in my playlist and I frankly think there were better songs on that album like “Going Crazy”). Can I also say that “Oh La La La” is a really really really unexpected song in terms of sound? It’s very sexy and languid, like the CBX stuff, but way more R&B infused (I think? I know nothing about music genres.). The vocal line slays on “Oh La La La” (D.O., Chen and Baekhyun sound so good while singing it during the showcase).

    1
    1

I’m glad you do like it after all! “Tempo” might be currently my favourite from the whole album. My other faves are “Oh La La”, “Oasis” and “24/7”. I can’t say I love “Gravity” just yet… Maybe it needs a few more listens. “Going Crazy” might be the best song on The War album in my opinion.

I think “Oh La La” might be a side effect of the Latin vibes SM is currently absorbing (mainly SuJu to be fair). But it’s a great song. My favourite part must be the Chen-Chanyeol, Suho-Sehun rap/singing parts.

The storyline of the MV is so cute! It’s like a mini movie about “nerds” getting back on the “cool kids”.
And there’s Chungha in it! It was released in January 2017, so it was before her solo debut.
