NokDu – lovely ending, nicely done.

In a way, the king’s exile is the best thing that could have happened to the queen. The one unselfish thing he did was let her go, instead of clinging to her. Now she can spend the rest of her life with her son; the two who have suffered most from him finally reunited. And he knows it.

I *think* he knew the game was up from the time he refused to look at the dead body that Yul-moo claimed was NokDu.

Yes, it’s kind of strange, in the ending the king was suggesting that he persecuted Nokdu and tried to have him killed, instead of recognizing YM as the traitor to the throne, so that he wouldn’t have to kill Nokdu, if that makes any sense. I can’t quite get my head around that convoluted reasoning. The only thing that kept Nokdu from getting killed was DJ’s surrender to YM and promise to stay with him. For a man who was genuinely paranoid about being betrayed, to stay true to his character the king should have killed YM as soon as he recognized his greed for the throne. Oh, but that wouldn’t have been consistent with history. Sigh.

          Absolutely true.
