So obviously the viewing audience knows that Ji Ah isnt a robot, and when her eyes well up its because shes in love with Kim Min Kyu and shes hurting for the both of them. What does he think is happening whenever it looks like shes going to cry/is obviously fighting back tears?
Also, they hold hands alot–what does he think is causing her pulse? Is it just….you know…whatever makes robots move around and such? I dont think I thought about this stuff the first time I watched but now—its all the little things that are adding up/breaking down for me. Its like Lois Lane/Clark Kent and the glasses. He saw enough in the beginning to convince himself that she’s a robot that now it doesn’t matter what she does because he has it stuck in his head that shes a robot. But once she pulled “friend mode” out of her butt she doesn’t even try to act like a robot. The careful way the researchers were teaching her how to walk and stand and carry things–all out the window.
And since I’m at the part of the drama where it can’t be said enough: TILDA YOU STUPID expletive expletive expletive

To my mind, motivated reasoning is a big underlying theme of the drama whereby people ignore reality to re-enforce their preexisting positions. Min Kyu believing that Jia is a robot, Baek-kyun refusing to accept Jia’s intelligence and ascribing the outcomes of her actions to the robot, and Min Kyu’s doctor insisting on treating his clearly psychological condition as a physiological one. Motivated reasoning and the way we let our emotions overwhelm our decisions underpinned the behaviour of many of the characters throughout the show’s run; especially around how all the characters reacted to Min Kyu’s illness.

I find it hilarious that in such a nuanced piece of writing, Tilda is the only true villain we can curse at.

Tilda is the actual worst. I’m sure even the villains in The Last Empress watched INAR and thought Tilda was evil.

Well now I need a fanfiction of TLE sitting around the throne room (at the grandmothers insistence–she wanted to believe that there was still some love in that family) and the mother going, “Wow. Tilda, what a bitch” and the royal mistress/ho-bag being, “RIGHT!” and then the DE and the Royal Mistress/hobag hi-five and Sunny is sitting rolling her eyes like, “kettles and pots, people. But, seriously, let me in on that hi-five because Tilda needs to get shot in the face. RH…what are you doing Tuesday?” While grandmother and the little girl are like….this family is too much and SHUT UP already the pretty is on screen.

She’s in the show for approximately 2 seconds so it’s not easy.

You have to watch all of INAR to truly understand and feel the devastation Tilda unleashed.

Surprised she didn’t win villain of the Year at the Baeksangs….
