Interrupting everyone’s Kpop and drama talk to confess: with a recent pimple/scar breakout, I suddenly feel nauseous, insecure and UGH. I want to drown in pity and sorrow and then I want it all to disappear.

To be clear, this IS a first world problem, but I had to write it somewhere.

I read through the article! My poor sensitive skin would not be sble to handle it… snifffff

I feel you — my skin decided to hate me this week too. It’s as if it knew I have court appearances to make after weeks in the office. I hate that I already look young and the breakouts don’t help. It’s hard to feel secure when you feel like everyone is staring at you. (Even though the truth is no one really cares, but that doesn’t help one feel better.)

My solution: mask the crap out of them and pray I can cover up come tomorrow.

No one really cares but you care, which is what makes it suck more.

Good luck in court this week!

Sometimes I wear extra bright lipstick and darker eyeshadow in order to draw attention away from my skin. It helps to make me feel like I look more mature (even if I still look like a struggling toddler)…

Lipstick is my secret weapon — only thing I can’t live without. Sadly, I feel like most of my feel good colors aren’t gonna fly with the more conservative courts…and it’s initial appearances, so trying to tone it back until I get a feel for who I’m dealing with. But will probably go for my signature hot pink/fuchsia if I can.

Ahh. Idk in what I feel more self-conscious in… Pimples or makeup? Even if it’s just concealer… I chicken out and take it off. I’ve got a serious self-imagined complex. It helps to know I’m at least not the only one so self-aware about it.

I was the same many (many many) moons ago. I don’t think I wore makeup until I was 21? I understand the feeling. I say do you, but also remember — no one notices the flaws as much as we do. If you have just a few pimples my best rec for a quick solution is Cosrx patches – I can’t live without them. Overnight they shrink my zits.

But also trying to figure out the source helps. I discovered that too much dairy makes me break out, so I cut down. Suspect my current breakout is from overdoing it and stress and probably too little sleep. Gotta work on that this week. Possibly also changing seasons, which means I need to change my skincare routine.

        I do the same!!

In my mind my bright red lipstick makes me look at least like a college graduate (minimum)
Though I probably still look like a high-schooler that’s trying to hard (by everyone’s reactions…cries)

I’ve probably said this 1000 times already – but the best thing I learned in law school was that if you wear red (or bright/rich colored) lipstick, people think you’re totally done up and don’t even notice the rest. I feel like it’s just a bright distraction from the rest. Also, it takes minimal time/effort to put on.

Totally agree! I have only started wearing bright lipstick recently and am never looking back 😀

My lipstick addiction is no joke. But I also think of it as my armor — if I have it on, I can do anything. Literally the only item of makeup that I keep on me all the time.

My skin is also prone to breakouts. While my beauty routine manages to keep it clear-ish for most of the time, my skin flares up when I am especially stressed. Because obviously when life is hard, you need one more problem to deal with.

Makeup is magic! It is amazing what you can do with some foundation, concealer and setting powder. You just need to take extra care with washing it off in the evenings.

I hope your skin settles down soon and you can still do everything confidently. After all, what matters is your skill and your effort, and not how clear your skin is!

Thank you for the encouraging words Daisy. Saldly, I think my issue is with myself. Need to learn to be brave, not so obsessive, and move on.

Being brave is hard. I also wish I was a more confident person, but I am hoping I am at least slowly getting better at pretending I am.

I second or third this!!! I put it on when my face just feels like I’ll get a pimple (it doesn’t even break through the surface) and it’s gone the next day!
