I’m kinda excited for the voting this year on DB. In a year where no particular drama stands out in terms of «masterpiece», what will Beanies vote for?

Oh wait. I think my favorite of 2019 is definitely Be Melodramatic. Definitely.

Nokdu Flower is getting almost all my beans. It really is a masterpiece.

Nokdu for sure. Also, I really enjoyed Moment of 18. Such a young but talented cast.

Moment of 18 was of good quality but can it be the best? we’ve seen the same highschool plot several times over. Ong Sung Woo is definitely one to look out for though. Oh and that scene with Oh je <3 Jang Ki Yong always shines.

I’ll be mostly Pegasus Market & My Fellow Citizens.

My vote will go to Perfume 💜. And TLE if it is included in this years voting since it aired until Feb 19.

I don’t think TLE will be included as it was included in last year’s line-up.
Perfume started off so offensive and while it adjusted and progressed and addressed the offensive issues, it was so off-putting. Not to say SSR did an amazing performance!

The Light In Your Eyes wasn’t that popular among Beanies, but to me it was almost as good as My Ahjussi. I loved it from the start to a teary end. I’m really looking forward to see how everyone else will vote!

The Light in Your Eyes was definitely good. But there were a few episodes in the middle that felt off and weird and had you not finished it you’d be at high risk of dropping it. Watching it full circle they then make sense. But there’s that high probability of dropping it which is why it was, for me, one of the best this year, but not THE best.

    Sky Castle.

For me, I put it down as iconic. But I’m not sure if it was my favorite. True to its satire genre, it disgusted me at times with how far people would go to attain something. It’s scary and a little bit too true to myself.

I’m the same, which is why I enjoyed Boksoo more. Still it is objectively the best show this year even though I’m not rushing to rewatch it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sky Castle and I think it deserves a lot of praise for being tightly written from start to finish, which I can’t say is the case for all shows. It was strong from start to finish, and told us a complete, well thought out story. I like that it appears to be a finished product delivered to us telling its story how it was intended.

It did have some plot points I personally wouldve liked to … not have seen (HYENA DESERVED BETTER) but everything this drama did was necessary for its message and I appreciate that a lot. I want to give the writing team a gift. A hundred gifts. A kiss and a hug.

As I reread this i realize i wrote the same thing four times. In my defense its past beddtime also ITS A GOOD THING IM NOT A WRITER.

What I read is that we agree that Sky Castle does stand out as this year’s masterpiece. And also that it is definitely a masterpiece. Hyena’s death gave me actual physical pain, which is another way in which it was a masterpiece.

While I agree with all of the above, I think my vote goes more towards My Fellow Citizens. Like sky castle, it was a complete story from beginning to end and had a message. The characters progress as the story goes along. The humour was well timed, the villain amazing and the plot was FUN.

But Be Melodramatic has my heart. but omg idk. But still, if I were to compare it to last year… My ahjussi is still a bar above the rest.

I never saw Be Melo but I agree that MFC was a great show from beginning to end. I still feel like Sky Castle is that kind of iconic “Best Drama” kind of show. But I agree that watching my Ahjussi was a transcendent experience.

            @leetennant @justme

I agree My Ahjussi would win hands down. I still have no words to explain that show except magic. I guess “transcendent” about sums it up.

@leetennant I don’t think we’ll ever get another drama like My Ahjussi. Even after 30 years from now on I’m sure it’ll touch my soul the same way. I’m tearing up just by listening to MA OST, I’m not prepared to go through the whole drama again.

I’ve not watched tons of kdramas this year but I’ll probably vote for Search WWW and Secret Life of my Secretary

Secret Life of My Secretary hands down best fluffy, campy romcom of the year!

I have a weakness for simple not over the top fluffiness, yes I didn’t like that the female lead lied for so long, but if the lie were revealed so early there wouldn’t have been a plot. I liked the reversal of power and veronica park is a whole mood.

That’s why it’s a Patented Minority Opinion. I hated everything about the OTP and, while I loved most of the rest of the drama, I couldn’t reconcile that. It was a romcom after all; the OTP is kind of important. I liked his character a lot but I hated her and I hated them together. I couldn’t get over that.
            PMO.
