In essence of Love February, I thought sharing my love for Perfume aka my favourite 2019 drama which also has my favourite bookworm, Seo Yi Do is a must 💜. Yi Do reads in nearly all his freetime scenes. He even reads in dream sequences. He narrates and talk books.
No drama made me google books/literature pieces as much as Perfume did. Even KBS uploaded a list of books used in Perfume on its official instagram.
Some of the books:
1. Leo Tolstoy: Anna Karerina
2. Leo Tolstoy: Peace and War
3. Gabriel Garcรญa Mรกrquez: Love in the Time of Cholera
4. Michio Kaku: Parallel Worlds
5. Arthur C. Clarke: The Childhood’s End
6. Paulo Coelho:ย By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept
7. Kim Kyung Mi: Order of Soothing Pain
8. Lily of the Valley: Honore De Balzac
9. Gi Hyung Do: Black Leaf in My Mouth
I loved that the books were used to express Yi Do and Jae Hee’s feelings or to explain a situation. The books weren’t just props or said in passing. I can sense the writer did immense research to integrate many books into the script and scenes. It made me appreciate the drama even more 👩🏻🏫.
Lol. I don’t remember the lines YY. I made half the list when the show aired but never posted. I might remember which episode to watch the scenes though. Hahaha
Wow – it’s been years since I read the book – now I may have to find my copy again. Thanks for the link! I may have to go back and watch Perfume again too!

You are a true SSR fan. Salute! I only know the first lines of Love in the Time of Cholera, and that was because of Perfume.

I love it when dramas incorporate books into their stories!

That’s so cool. I never paid attention to the books while it was airing.
